Pouncey out 8 weeks - still take Bell #1 overall??
CountryCletus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in Fantasy Football
Don't worry- they use him everywhere and the kid runs hard... My buddies are all steelers fans so when the bills are away I am forced to watch them- I can't tell you how many times he looked bottled up for no gain or maybe 3 yards and turned in into 8-10... -
PPR or non PPR? I think Bell could fit a 1st pick grade in either, I was elated to draft him at the 7 spot in the tbd league!!! PPR- Bell Non- AP is intriguing, Bell, Lynch...
-
Pick him up if he's dropped in any leagues- hopefully people act quickly without thinking... This man is going to sign somewhere with a RB need and could be surprising this year!!!
-
Dinner is on me, the first 10 who sign get to pick the place

Spoke with my rep- he said that you San still get them if you don't do this by September 6, just won't be at the discounted rate... Probably discounted like 50 cents... -

I've been wrong before.... My opinion is that there is NO way we cut Hogan to keep Davis... My WRs are Sammy Woods Harvin Easley Hogan Thompson I could see them IR'ing Goodwin if the injury justifies.... If he would be ready for week 1, it's a coon toss between him and Thompson... With the speed and talent all over the field, needing Goodwins speed to hide glaring holes on offense isn't a necessity anymore... If he could catch the football reliably, it would be a different story... -
Same concept- huge difference in play style...

Where are you located now?? I can be pretty handy around the house.... (That wasn't my attempt at distasteful humor)

My favorite term of the week "ABC" -
I've liked the addition if Easley since we drafted him- with tempered expectations... When you follow someone like that, you tend to remember a lot about them- and as I recall, when he's been forced into action (I say forced bc they always likes to put others in before him as the OC stated) he hasn't had the most reliable hands... Much like Hogan... I do think he's turning the corner with that, and his route running is looking much better.

How Does Indy Game Plan for Taylor?
CountryCletus replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is the best answer so far... Even with a spy or maintaining lanes, it actually requires the player to do the right thing, and while these are professional athletes, instinct and misreads tend to draw them out of the position that they have game planned for, which leads to failed execution- fortunately for us, their DC isn't someone like Rex who creates pre-snap confusion.... -
After reading a few if these comments, I will release my 2015 draft strategy.... Due to the small number of stud RB's available, I'm getting one of them if I can in round one... Then I will target a few second tier guys and let the draft dictate to me when I select them. If I'm in a PPR league, adjust ranking accordingly for WR/RB... There are 5 QB's that I would love to have on my team starting.... So much like the RB2, I will be happy letting the draft dictate when I take one. Sprinkle in the WR's most likely in rounds 2 and 4.... My drafts have gone usually like this (but it varies every time based on players sliding) RB WR RB WR QB RB/WR TE By this time, ou should have a serious starting lineup without huge needs at certain positions... The rest of the draft is strictly BPA... Now certainly you would stick right to this (or any other) strategy if players slide, like why take Abdulah as a #2 when you have a #1 WR on the board, or maybe a Gronk or Graham, but a majority of the time, you have to expect those players to be gone.. Also- make sure the day of your draft, you run through the injury report and know who's out for a while, done for the year, etc... WR's and RB's with leg or shoulder issues, QB's with rib or shoulder issues may want to shy away from...

I think this would be more effective from a strategic standpoint if Cassel were to get the nod and they coach TT up and end up putting him out there intermittently thought the game. There is much more difference in those two than there is between TT and EJ. Non body has the legs like TT, but EJ is no statue

I don't think one spy would work on TT, unless you leave one like the Mike- then have the the ends not crash on every play- just focus on contain... That puts a lot of stress on your secondary and tends to open up runs that can average another yard or two longer than they would typically be, but if you are Indy and fear that TT will be dangerous and needs contained- that's how I would do it... -
Death, Taxes and Fred Jackson in the backfield
CountryCletus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes!!! I know this thread is focusing on Fred, and yes I'm super excited at what he's done and continues to do in Buffalo.... I really want to mention how excited I am that this team didn't give up on Easley! It wasn't an easy start to a career that he had, and with all the trash picks we were making in that era (and coaching turnover), he could have easily (no pun intended) been sent home prematurely... While he hasn't ever shown to be the stud WR for this team- he's been a great teammate, blocker, and special teamer!!!
