  1. lindell will and should stay. he's a top 10 kicker in the league. EVERY kicker has a bad game, so throw away your cleveland game scenario. if lindell were let go, there would be at least 8 teams waiting to sign him, including playoff caliber teams like NO and Dallas. If you're so confident that he loses us games b/c he's not a "money kicker," give me 5 games where we solely lost because of his foot that where not of extraordinary conditions. I'm interested to know...
  2. Sorry to add to my own response, but don't be surprised if Buddy doesn't bring in Marty for consulting aide. Their relationship is much stronger than has been reported. In my view, that's the best way Marty can be utilized to help the Bills.
  3. We will only be able to see if Maybin is/is not a bust if the Bills go into a 3-4 scheme with him as a OLB. He cannot operate, in my opinion, on a consistent player without this. If the Bills dropped him, he would be snatched in a heatbeat by a team currently running a 3-4.
  4. Chan Gailey is a better choice than an unproven Frazier, B. Schott, Harbaugh or some dude from the CFL. If Cowher recommends and JJ regrets letting him go, then you cannot discredit him just on that fact he's not Cowher, Shanny, etc. Be realistic. This guy was one of the most coveted OC's/HC's and chose college instead. This choice is better than any coach we've had in the past decade, and if this were 5 years ago we'd all be praising this selection. And as for not picking Marty or Billick. Good call on that b/c that had disappointment written all over it. I like the the decision, and just waiting for the final assessment on his coaching staff, the draft and FA pick-ups. Plus, you know he's going to have a fire under his butt to prove everyone wrong. I like a guy who needs to prove himself -- not like Mularkey, Williams or Jauron.
  5. remember that feeling we had in 1995 after losing to jacksonville? that's the same feeling pats fans are having right now.
  6. waiting a month is not the greatest of things. i think the earlier the better, so a philosophical, draft and free agent plans/decisions are made. not to say, we hire the first one who says yes (god i hope it doesn't come down to that), but, i think time is of the essence w/ this.
  7. but can't a letter of intent bind the agreement if and when ralph dies?
  8. those 200+ yds is due, in part, to studs like rice and their o-line. that's the type of o-line i'd love to have in buffalo. why we didn't select oher still drives me insane. he has started all of their games this year. and look what happened to their rushing game... one of the best in the league. even mcgahee had like 14tds this year. when's the last time anyone from buffalo had 14 tds.?
  9. that has also to do w/ their defense. their d was pretty good this year. i like schott, but, the jets d won them several games this year.
  10. i'm just saying if i had to pick one of the two it would be mcnabb. actually, don't want either. you're right on johnson, but jax played their cards right w/ him and made him seem like he was the next brunnell, nevermind they had a a great o-line, running back and receiving tandem at the time. and, it also goes to show, how a qb can do well when there's no real tape of them playing yet. i think that had to do a lot w/ the success kolb had w/ his two games this year.
  11. That's actually a very good point. And perhaps there's a little bit of that wanting to work w/ your offspring, like Ripken/Ripken, Griffey/Griffey and Alou/Alou thing. I know it's baseball and probably won't happen, but, nonetheless, I'm sure the two have talked about it at least once in their lives.
  12. there's a big difference here in buffalo that you have to keep in mind. 1) the jets have a pretty good offensive line, and 2) i'd take the jones/greene combo over fjax/lynch combo. that's the reason why they can do play action and bootlegs.
  13. Like there is a difference between one or three games or even a six for that matter. If he started a full year, then there is a debate. Not when your only playing time consists of two games against suspect passing defenses.
  14. He has started one game -- that's pretty much all Kolb has sniffed too, or do you want to count his 40.0 passer rating from the year before? I'm not saying that he might not be a good QB one day, but to suggest that he isn't really risky or is worth a first round pick is nuts. Two games doesn't prove anything in the NFL. Look what Derek Anderson did for like 10 games in Cleveland a couple years ago -- the second coming of Kosar they all were saying. Teams where all after him -- offering Cleveland all sorts of draft picks. Now look at him -- you couldn't even get a bag of footballs for him.
  15. Kolb, a second-rounder, has just as much playing experience as Brohm, also a second rounder. And Brohm was more highly regarded. Brohm not a risk? It's risky no matter how you cut it with both of them. And, once again, this is all moot. KOLB IS NOT LEAVING PHILLY. And, if you'd give up a first or second for Kolb, you're just talking stupidity -- his ONLY solid game ever was against KC at home. There are more AJ Feely, Rob Johnson, Scott Mitchell stories than there are Young/Favre stories. There is proof in history, and the ones who don't avoid it make the same mistakes over and over again.
  16. I moved away from Buffalo a few years ago, and I always hated this guy. Is he still on the air in Buffalo, or did did they give this idiot the boot? Fill me in on what happened...
  17. you're missing my point. firstly, neither is coming to buffalo. secondly, the kolb thing is risky for any team. aj feely looked like a stud when mcnabb went down, and look what happened. if philly dangles a qb for trade bait, it will be vick b/c of his contract. and i don't think buffalo wants that experiment. i'm not opposed to drafting a qb at all, but (and that's a HUGE BUT) clausen and bradford look like they will be off the board come pick #9, and that pick is too high for tebow or price. so, our only hope for drafting a potential quality qb is that they fall into the mid-second round.
  18. Supposedly, he's not the brightest of guys -- that's his biggest downfall from what I've heard from Vikings fans/press. If that is the case, I wouldn't even write his name a potential list. Your QB needs smarts. Period.
  19. I just think it's risky -- that's all I'm saying. Maybe AJ Feely is a better comparison than RJ. I don't think either will be here regardless, but, the future QB situation needs to be a very solid decision or else we're going to be in the same consistent 3-year pattern we've been doing since 1999. With that said, many fans and analysts thought RJ would be the next Brunnell. Obviously, that didn't happen.
