  1. that has nothing to do w/ it. appearance? really? how about our concern is having a product on the field that can finally win.
  2. We still would need to replace ML and for what you're going to get for him, you'd be lucky to replace him. While I agree we have starting positions to fill, you still need a decent #2 running back. For what you'd get in retrun you likely wouldn't get much of a quality starter for another position, plus would still need to replace him. What did StL just get for Incognito, nothing and I think he has more upside than ML does. Don't think it would that hard to replace Lynch -- I really don't. With Jackson in the backfield, you really only need a guy who will see the ball six to eight times, if that. Plenty of veterans will be out there for us to pick up. And this whole notion of the league turning into a two-back league is odd -- yes, it's the trend and is happening, but has only worked in a few places: Miami, Carolina and Dallas. Secondly, there are plenty of options in the 4th round that can help the Bills, especially in fringe positions like FB. All good running teams have great FBs that can create holes. We haven't had a good FB in Buffalo in quite some time. Sam Gash made everyone look good.
  3. Manning and Rodgers are not of the same caliber. When Rodgers starts to audible like Manning and sees what defenses present on every down w/out question, then we can talk. Best QBs in the league (for stats and intangibles): Manning, Brees, Warner, Rivers and Favre. Take Brady off that list for the time being... w/ Welker out, we saw what he was made of. All of the names I've listed have either had serious injuries to WRs, O-line, etc., or played w/ rookies... and still made it work.
  4. that's actually not a bad idea at all. don't know if you're joking, but having cable as our o-line coach would be huge and pay dividends right away.
  5. a 3rd or 4th round draft pick is not an elite pick. it's realistic. the point is we wouldn't have a hole at RB if lynch was gone. jackson has proved that he's an every down back. i see no contradiction at all.
  6. I have to also state that the reason why I started this thread is not b/c I hate ML or want to run him out of town. Basically, I know he has value in the league, and I believe Jackson can handle the workload as a premier RB for the Bills. With that said, we need to fill legitimate holes, and RB is not one of them. Even if we can get a 4th for him, I say we take it and snag a FB (of a Sam Gash nature) that can block make Jackson's life easier, or some other need...
  7. we don't know for certain what the bill's offered... it's all just speculation.
  8. right... like getting a draft pick to help the oline/defense.
  9. Absolutely. Even though the guy has had his share of problems (like 30 other guys in the league), teams know Lynch can play -- and he's young What? You think fans/brass would rather have Kevin Smith over Lynch in Detroit? That's nonsense... The other teams on the list (w/ the exception of STL) are teams with real teammates and would give ML a whopping if he acted up. GMs and coaches know pretty darn well if a player will be toxic in a locker room or if the players will be able to handle him. Imagine ML pulling this stuff w/ Trotter on his team.
  10. a winner doesn't mean a superbowl winner. he had playoff runs with: bubby brister, neil o'donnell and slash. these were not good quarterbacks, but fit a scheme the coaches designed on the strengths of other players around the team... where the qb could succeed. that's a mark of a great coach.
  11. You build winners by solidifying your interior lines on both sides of the ball. That's where our top draft picks should go because that's where game are won. Look at: NO, Indy, Dallas, Arizona, Chargers, Jets, Baltimore, etc. Those teams have either one or both sides of the line excelling, especially Dallas.
  12. Wouldn't want that b/c we'd get nothing in return. Best case scenario is that we get a 3rd for him and LT hits the open market to be the Marcus Allen kind of guy for us -- by watching him this year, he still has plenty in the tank... much more than TT had in this stage of his career. Plus, Buddy Nix would love LT being here.
  13. 100% accurate -- we all new Shanny wasn't coming to Buffalo... he just used us as leverage. Evidence: just look at his contract w/ the Redskins. Sad, but true.
  14. I really don't think we can get anything higher than a 3rd rounder for Lynch, but there will be a couple teams looking: 1) San Diego: LT is going to be out, and Sproles is not an every down back. If LT does hit the market, he still sniffs the endzone like no other, and would be a great edition to the Bills/Jackson. He had 12 TDs this year with limited playing time (he missed several games and was pulled when they were ahead in the 3rd quarter). He's be like a Marcus Allen player for us. Plus, his leadership skills are second to none. 2) St. Louis: They cannot let Steven Jackson get pounded like he does every game. Lynch would be a perfect second option for them, considering the league is moving towards that direction. 3) Detroit: I don't think they have that much faith in Kevin Smith after this year. Lynch would be a terror given that all of the home games would be domed. 4) NE: They're always looking and say what you will put Malroney is too hot/cold for the NE brass, and Sammy Morris/Faulk are too old. 5) Philly: Westbrook may not be back and McCoy has some fundamental issues. Lynch would the hard-nosed RB they've been lacking for years. They need to run the ball better, and if they do, DeSean/Maclin/Avant/Celek will be one of the best tandems in the league for many years. There are a few more, but I think these are real possibilities.
  15. This billboard makes Bills fans look pathetic. It's like having a song written when Bledsoe came to town or those damn cereals, even though I must admit I still have an opened box of Flutie Flakes in my closet.
  16. Oakland has some talent, and I think getting rid of Cable is a huge mistake by them. Cable is the kind of guy Oakland needs -- he has a warrior mentality and takes no BS. Cable was spot on when he said that they would have been a better team had Russell not started. He told the brass excatly what they didn't want to hear, b/c it makes AD look even worse publicly than he already did. We need a guy like that in Buffalo -- not saying him per say, but someone who has some spark, grit and fire.
  17. He would be the only coordinator I'd be looking at b/c no matter what you say about JJ, he does not want to lose him b/c of how integral he is to the Cowboys. JJ knows when Wade finally retires or is fired, Garrett will be the guy for many years to come. That offense went from nothing to very good within 5 years, and Garrett, not Wade, is responsible with that. Trent Edwards would succeed if he had those weapons, especially that healthy O-line.
  18. No way... he has more leverage than any coach has ever had with any team. Owners view him as a commodity because not only will he sell tickets for years to come, but, he's a proven winner and can guide a team into thinking they're a winner. If Cowher would have coach the 2009 edition of the Bills, they would have been over .500 and probably would have finally beaten the Pats. That's a big season for us Bill fans.
  19. As much I do not like Schefter, and wholly believe his ego gets in the way of many accurate predictions, I think he is on the money when it comes to Cowher. The only question remains is why Cowher has not publicly declined the Bills offer quite yet, and I think it's a simple reason: 1) he wants to know his worth in the market; and 2) if a different team is interested this year or next, they'll need to match or raise the offer what a smaller market team offered. To me, it just smells of standard business practice his agent told him to follow.
