  1. I am inclined to be positive about him, on gthe assumption that he can overcome his tendency to get injured. I suppose he has earned this season as the man. Get him the line he needs and push the run game and make a run for the playoffs
  2. Given our won/loss record and playoff record over the last decade, I wouldn't be overy impressed by pretty much anything a Bills scout might say.
  3. We need another OT more than anything. If we do that we can be in the running for a playoff spot. In fact, if we don't come close (very close) to playoff spot I think Marrone will be on te hot seat. Playoffs are doable.
  4. right tackle left tackle is more or less a non-issue. Many "left tackle" (which I always thought was considered a skill position) prospects start as right tackles and move on to left as they get experience. Further people run to the right, and rush over the right tackle. Right tackle is a pretty important position. Any of the three "blue chip" left tackle candidates in this draft could play right tackle and probably slip into left tackle if Cordy Glenn got hurt. OT is the best option for number 9
  5. tough one...I wonder how Otto Graham and Sammy Baugh did? I thought John Elway and Bradshaw would have made at least the final four. Greatest qb of ALL time is tough as there were some great pre-tv qbs.
  6. no....he isn't all that good, we have a backup, and I think we should be looking for free agents where we actually have gaping holes such as OT, TE, and CB. We don't have the luxury of taking fliers on people in positions where we don't need them, like drafting CJ Spiller when we already have Marshawn Lynch.
  7. Actually I recommend trading down only for a really good trade opportunity. The ninth pick has X value in the abstract. If Johnny Football or someone's dream player makes it past 8 the price of the ninth spot goes up. If not Take Lewan with 9 the best TE in round two and the best WR in round 3.
  8. go for Lewan if available at 9. If not trade down and get one of the next tier OT's and hopefully a second second round choice to fill two other areas of weakness. I'd pick up another offensive lineman in the lower rounds.
  9. The difference betweenThe difference between right tackle and left tackle is overstated, and many a left tackle has apprenticed in the right tackle role. Offensive linemen get hurt and if there is an area that needs a depth of quality players, its the o-line. In this year's drafts there are three blue chippers available in the top ten and one should fall to us. In fact however there are a few pretty good tackles in round 2. If I were Marrone and I wanted to coach in buffalo beyond next year I'd get the best player available in the area that needs the player the most......that is OT in pretty much any analysis. We have gotten a linebacker and a WR. Then again, I might be all wet because we have not yet, as far as Iknow, interviewed OT candidates which makes me wonder which way the wind is blowing on that first pick.
  10. Actually Galway is to the north. If you go there be sure to visit the Aran Islands and Sligo (Yeats country) From Shannon you can easily get to the Cliffs of Moher (a kind of must see). I disagree on Dublin...great city for pub crawling (temple bar) wonderful people. The If Shannon, I'd go south to Kilkenny and the ring of Dingle, work my way east to Glendaloch (my spelling is probably off) to Dublin-then to Belfast, Antrim, Sligo Galway, Aran Islands.
  11. I think a poll of which offensive tackle would be more appropriate.
  12. NO 1. Williams isn' t that good. 2. Stevie isn't that bad. 3. When we lineup we generally want two or three good receivers on the field.
  13. Chris isn't all that much a spring chicken either. I think we have other places to invest in such as OT, WR and TE
  14. uhhhh....yes...let me see....with crying needs for OT WR and TE we go out of our way to find another running in the last years of his career to complement our two very good running backs.
  15. Picking ninth the interesting thing is that you aren't sure who is going to fall to you. so...if Watkins is available I'd go with him, go with either OT Cyrus Kouandijo, Alabama.or Morgan Moses OT Virginia in the second round (BUT..the bills haven't invited either of them for a visit, which makes the selection unlikely) and go with Troy Niklas TE Notre Dame in round 3. Niklas may be a bit of stretch to make it to round 3 If Watkins isn't available...Lewan OT in round 1 Jayce Amaro TE in round 2 and the best available wr in round 3.
  16. I wish it were true that pickpockets were in third world countries, but London, Dublin and other European cities are hotbeds for pickpockets. I have a comfortable holder that goes around my neck for passport, cards and cash. I actually caught a pickpocket in the act on the Metro in London. Eastern European guy. Keep a copy of your passports in your luggage as it will make life easier if yours is stolen. Check phone coverage options carefully. If in Dublin go to the Duke pub and sign up for the literary pub crawl...I agree that a day or two driving through the country will be a wonderful experience. Have fun!!
  17. I suspect it will be eiher Evans or Lewan in round one, given the fact that neither WR nor OT have been addressed in free agency. I'm partial to the OT choice, but the thought may be that if we can get Evans we might get a good OT in round two. I think the choice on round one will be based on our assessment of what will be available in round two for these positions. Round 3?....tight end.
  18. my pipe dream would be a trade down in round one, getting an OT and getting Niklas and a WR in round 2. I see Niklas lasting until the latter part of the second round and thought he would be a real bargain. I'd love to see him as a Bill.
  19. 134 combat missions and lucky enough not to have experienced capture. Rip buddy
  20. What he said!! My meat and potatos draft: would be Lewan (or whichever other of the top three OT's are available) in round one, Jayce Amaro (TE) in round two and best WR available in round three. I kind of like Notre Dames TE Nikolay in round three if we go WR in round two.
  21. The Bills moving is, I suppose, a very real possibility, but hasn't Toronto pretty much put itself out of the running given its lack of support for its Argonauts and its tepid at best support of the Bills games played there? Buffalo fans are not going to flock across the border to see games. There would have to be a better market than western New York out there to go to and I'm not sure there is one. It will be interesting to watch the various potential buyers machinations over time...but ...call me a homer....I still think Buffalo is a great place to have a team.
  22. Very impressive guy, but not going to last until nine. Even if he did last until nine Marrone would be signing his coaching death warrant to diddle around with a new qb. He's committed to EJ and he needs to give EJ the support (OT, TE, WR) in this draft. I'll admit I'll regret seeing us pass on JM but I can be happy that the chance of him being there for us to pass on is extremely remote. The opportunity would be there for one hell of a lucrative trade down with someone if they could get him. We might end up with a mid round first and an extra second.
