  1. You got that right. The green alien babe was hot back in the day!
  2. From his ESPN bio (link==> http://www.espnmediazone3.com/us/2009/11/mcshay_todd/) Prior to joining ESPN, McShay worked full-time for “The War Room,” (1999-2006) a start-up scouting publication created by former NFL scout Gary Horton. It soon became a go-to source of information for 16 NFL scouting departments and became a crosscheck for CBS and The Sporting News. ESPN purchased the business in 2006 and changed the name to Scouts Inc. McShay interned for Horton in the summer of 1998, after getting his first taste of college scouting and recruitment when he “cut film” for the University of Richmond coaching staff. Before becoming one of the nation’s top NFL Draft analysts, McShay was the quarterback for the Swampscott (Mass.) High School football team (1991-94), and he was a backup quarterback for the University of Richmond (1995-97) before sustaining a back injury that ended his college career. So essentially anyone that has spent 30 years sitting at a barstool every Saturday watching college football has comparable or better credentials. Speaking of barstool...
  3. The Fish were a lot more fun to hate back in the day of "The Jaw" and Marino. But I don't ever remember those rat b*sterds, despised as they were, ever complaining about the heat. I think the Fish are becoming a bunch of kitties under the Tuna.
  4. You don't have to worry about Ralphie on this one. Buddy will wake him from his nap and tell him JC is from Notre Dame. Ralph will think about it a minute, and in one of his final lucid moments will say "the last four 1st round picks we took from Notre Dame were Walt Patulski, Greg (Tinker) Bell, Tony Hunter and Jeff Burris".....and then the ghost of Bill Polian will possess him and he will yell to Buddy.......GET OUTTA TOWN!!!!! And then he will go back to sleep.
  5. I can hear the Clausen man-crush crowd now... Bulaga Clausen
  6. Does anyone know what they did with the TVs? They were probably pretty nice, maybe could get a deal on one used!
  7. Ralph Wilson is on the phone. He's been reading this thread and wants to hire you all for his scouting staff. Reminds me of Yogi Berra who said - "when you come to a fork in the road - take it!"
  8. In addition to giving up picks they can't afford to give up, the contract needed to sign No 4 will be a lot higher than No 9. I agree that they are more likely to trade down than trade up.
  9. I keep telling my boss I prefer..... $200 K per year An office overlooking the lake and a blonde bombshell secretary He prefers $7.50 an hour A view of the dumpster behind Monro Muffler and his Aunt Gertrude as our office assistant Guess which one I get!
  10. Jimbo could definitely be an arrogant jerk in his early days. I saw it firsthand at a few Buffalo nightclubs in the day. But that said, there was never any doubt, even during the Bickering Bills days that he was the leader in the locker room. Thurman and Bruce might have popped off every now and then, but everyone on the team, and every fan in the stands knew he was "DA MAN". Clausen didn't show that at ND, and the PFW write up pretty much confirms my own thoughts and observations.
  11. Then the good people of Billsville speak! Tipster - you are a Bills fan of the highest order! I had a saying about my kid brother growing up. He was a snotty nose punk who would rile up the neighborhood and then come running home to me to protect him. He was my brother, so I couldn't let anyone else beat him up. So I used to tell them..... Hey, he's my brother. If he needs a beating, I'll give it to him, BUT YOU DONT TOUCH HIM! Being a Bills fan is the same way. They rile Bills Nation up, the rest of the country ridicules them. But like Tipster, I have defended them along the way as I moved around the country. But when they need a verbal beating, we'll give them the beating they deserve because they are just like family. So if you read my posts, you now understand my frequent sign-off line.... "Da Bills......they're an ugly mutt, but they're MY MUTT!!" BTW - My kid brother is now a snotty nose adult, but he is still a BILLS FAN too!
  12. Promo - C'mon, these are some classic "I love you man" moments brought to you by Bud Light. You need to "feel the love/share the pain" that makes us die-hard Bills fans! The only people that can really relate to us are Chicago Cubs fans. Cheer up! I'm still sad that Dave Thomas retired last year too! What ever happened to Biff Beeper? Here's to you and all the gang at Rocketship 7!!!
  13. Tipster - I'm with you..... Cost of blue #32 sweatshirt Dad bought me in 1973 - $3 Cost of pizza and wings every Sunday to watch Bills with Dad for 35 years - who knows Cost of Zubaz pants and Bills gear Dad bought all the grandkids over the years- $hundreds Cost of Bills tickets to the one game in 1996 Dad actually wanted to go and watch at Rich - $25 each Cost of 4 beers at the Ralph in 2007 so my sons and I could toast Dad's memory and love of the Bills - PRICELESS Thanks Dad! "Da Bills - they are an ugly mutt, but they will always be MY MUTT"
  14. http://scottpitoniak.blogspot.com/ It must be a Donovan McNabb holiday today. I just heard Byron Scott is giving McNabb the keys to the City at 5pm today! Sincerely, Cliff Clavin
  15. I didn't realize Lefevour was Canadian. That seals the deal for me! I developed a life long love of all things Canadian the first time I travelled to Fort Erie to watch The Canadian Ballet!
  16. A third won't cut it. Eagles are in the driver's seat. They don't have to do anything with McNabb if they don't get the value they want. I don't see them letting him go for less than a 2nd. If they take a 3rd, I would guess they will want another pick this year or next, or a player thrown in as well. There are at least a few teams besides the Bills who have to (or at least should) be interested (Rams, Panthers, Vikings, Cardinals) in McNabb, so it's not like the Bills are the only team talking to Philly. I think the Eagles braintrust (especially Andy Reid) would be more likely to just dump Vick (and his salary) if they don't get anything for him before the draft than to let McNabb go for less than what they want.
  17. I agree with you that Bills need to build through draft for the long run. However, trading for McNabb is worth serious consideration. I agree the Bills are going to be in rebuild mode for at least another couple of years. However, they also need to develop a winning mentality while they rebuild, and a proven vet like McNabb could help instill some of that attitude while hopefully winning some games for the Bills in the process. If the Bills gave up a 2nd or 3rd rounder for McNabb, I would be ok with that. The Bills 2nd and 3rd rounders the the past few years have been Jarius Byrd, Andy Levitre, James Hardy, Chris Ellis, Paul Pozluzny, Trent Edwards, Roscoe Parrish and Ashton Youboty. So if I were doing a straight up player trade, I would happily and readily give up Hardy, Ellis, Edwards, Parrish or Youboty for McNabb and figure I wasn't doing anything to hurt the long-term rebuilding process. (I'd even throw in former 1st rounder John McCargo for that matter). Using a 2nd or 3rd rounder for McNabb is less of a risk than picking a player out of college in the 2nd or 3rd round. My big picture plan would be to bring McNabb in this year, hoping to get 2-3 solid years from him. Give Gailey a chance to really evaluate whether Edwards, Brohm or Fitz worth keeping. Pick up a mid to late round QB in the draft this year or in Rounds 1 or 2 next year to groom for a year or two for life after McNabb.
  18. Good point. Unfortunately, my 1991 Frank Reich trading card would draw more trade interest than any of them would.
  19. Sad story, and too bad that the Bills let him go. Even though he didn't play with the Bills long, I remember he was a ferocius hitter with the kind of football mentality the Bills could use a lot more of today. Here's wishing him and his family the best.
  20. I'd would defintely give the Bills No two (No 41 overall) for McNabb (or Kolb for that matter).
  21. Rob Johnson looked awesome the one game he played for Jax the year before the Bills gave up a 1st rounder for him. If the Bills are going to give up a 1st round pick, especially a Top 10 pick, it had better be for a proven veteran with at least 5 productive years left that can be an immediate positive difference maker. Besides, if the Eagles would be willing to deal Kolb for a first rounder, doesn't that imply that they would rather take a chance on an unproven player instead of the guy they have been grooming the past three years to replace McNabb? Teams don't trade their QB of the future if they really believe he is their QB of the future (unless said QBoF is a head case like Jay Cutler).
  22. OK. I will say it (well paraphrase it). I watched Clausen play and he was ok but definitely not great. Therefore I wouldn't spend the No 9 pick on him. If he's there at 41, then go ahead and take a shot. I've seen him on TV, and I watched him live against Pitt this year. Now as a Bills fan, don't you think I had in the back of my mind that I thought maybe he would be on the Bills radar. I left the game unimpressed. Tate was the story of the game, and the reason the Irish had a shot at the end. Not Clausen. The Pro-Clausen movement on this Board has a "Clausen or bust" mentality. Well too many 1st round qbs end up being busts. That sets the franchise back another 5 years. Bills have too many needs to take a shot on anyone at any position with question marks, but especially at QB. I've been in the "OT/LT at No 9" camp from day 1, and that's where I'm staying.
  23. Define disinformation. Facts stated (or inferred) in my argument: 1. QB is team leader (synonymous with "field general" from Synonym.com) 2. Claussen was ND QB for three years (ND Football website) 3. Clausen won 16 out of 35 (or 45% win pct) games ND played in last three years (source CBS Sportsline) 4. ND lost this year to UConn at home, Navy at home, had to come from behind at home to beat a 5-7 UWash team (source ESPN) 5. Loser - a person who failed at a particular activity (Dictionary.com) 6. Clausen 45% wins, 55% losses - mathematically qualifies as a negative/loss (trust me on this one or use your calculator) Therefore, based on facts 1 through 6, Clausen is by definition a loser. So please explain where the disinformation is?
  24. Nice rebuttal. Solid points to back up your argument. That said. I still don't think he's the answer. He might end up being a good to great quarterback. And if the Bills take him, I'll drink the Clausen Kool-Aid and hope like hell I'm wrong. But until they do, I'm not going to be convinced he's the guy they should use their 1st round pick on. And I did see him play in person against Pitt (as well as a number of TV games). I thought he made some nice throws, but his long throws were wounded ducks. He was fortunate Golden Tate had the speed to outrun Pitts banged up secondary and run under them (as well as run a kickoff back for a TD). But it was Tate that got ND back in the game, not Clausen. I'm all for them taking him with their 2nd round pick
