  1. I understand your conclusion, but they have other chances to meet players as well. That doesn’t mean you’re wrong, but I would hope that they would look at CBs even if they planned to sign a veteran.
  2. Just about every team drafts for need to some level. The Bills are tight on cap space and they have leveraged a number of contracts to create current cap space. Almost any team who has a top CB is going to have to count on cheap rookie contracts for some positions. I’m sure Beane doesn’t like being in position to be forced to fill holes - he has said as much on many occasions.
  3. At this point they should be looking for someone who can be a decent starter or good rotational player. Should not reach too far for a run stopping DT - what’s left looks like marginal value at DT unless they would consider a smaller penetrating guy like Norman-Lott. Don’t love the DEs left either, but Tuimoloau and Burch have solid floors at least. Open to most any position if there is a good prospect there.
  4. I think this is fairly likely, too. I think they can get about the same level prospect 10 spots later as they can get at 30.
  5. I agree that it depends on what the concerns are, but if the issues are motivation and effort I think that’s a big deal. If the issues are that the guy is a jerk, then that’s less concerning but still a concern.
  6. I think in this weak WR class we are so desperate to find a WR that we are seeing these guys as better than they are.
  7. I’m not disagreeing with the strategy, but the CB class this year is not as good as last year’s and DeJean was pick 40 - far earlier than 56. Also, Philly already had their DL in place.
  8. Underrated: Rousseau- I think he is a very good all around DE. Spencer Brown, too. Just a year or so ago the TBD pitchforks were out for him. overrated: I don’t have vote here - we are pretty tough fans to please. Honorable mention to the annual pre-season WR hero.
  9. With you on most of this, but the whispers of character issues with Nolan may be real (we won’t know what the team does). I agree Nolan is more talented than Amos (imho).
  10. Maybe, but I’d feel a lot better getting one by 62. It’s a loooong way from 62 to 109.
  11. I think Burch is more athletic than given credit for and he appears to have dropped considerable weight this offseason, I think he’s under 270 now. Most of the DEs who are big enough to play the run in base defense aren’t going to be great speed pass rushers. I actually think if they want a DE in round 2 they could pick from Burch, Tuimoloau and Sawyer - all kind of good run defenders with a bit of pass rush (power) - none will be confused Von Miller in his prime.
  12. Except that it’s not a particularly strong CB class - and as we are seeing in the TSW mock, no guarantee that even an overage under-experienced prospect like Porter is available in round 2.
  13. I voted for Watts - I don’t think the need at S is as grave as others do, but Watts is a very good prospect at this point. I would rather have gotten a DT and I think Farmer can be a good player, but Watts is the better more proven prospect. I might be inclined to stretch a bit and take Farmer at 62
  14. That is not an inspiring list. Of the list, I think Watts is the best player. I like Tuimoloau better than some do. Still, if this is what will be left to pick from, ugh. Given this list as the only options, I think they would take Farmer. I don’t really want to vote.
  15. I think you are right- I hope that their pick won’t be a major reach. I think a lot of the favorites that have been talked about here will be gone before 30 anyway. Some of the luster seems to be wearing off of the Grant evaluations. He might make it to 30 and they still might take Amos, Revel or even Thomas.
  16. Harmon is taller than 6’1”. I believe he was 6’4 1/2 at the Combine.
  17. I do like what I’ve seen of Caldwell.
  18. Agree that leaving a major need for a starter is not optimal for the draft, but there is only so much cap room and they just invested in Christian Benford. I would love to have a viable starter option in a vet on the roster so that they don’t have to force a CB, but who is available that they can fit under the cap? It definitely makes me uncomfortable thinking that they HAVE to find a rookie to start at CB or else looking at Dane Jackson starting/playing more than is optimal.
  19. I fit part of this description. If they draft Amos I’ll think they made a slight reach but addressed a need. I think I’d rather have Nolan from that list but the rumors of character issues scare me.
  20. I’m not conceding that they HAVE to take a CB at 30, but rather it’s a big problem if they don’t - unless they have a credible if aging vet lined up to sign if they don’t take a CB at 30. I’ll admit that part of my hang up is that I would not want to part with pick 62 to move up far enough to take a CB by mid-2nd. If they go DT first the candidates that seem to have any potential to start this year will likely be gone by 56. If they go CB first, I am pretty confident that there will still be a decent 1T prospect at 56 or 62.
  21. I know that you understand that just because they were lucky enough to find Benford in round 6 doesn’t mean that their odds of finding another starting caliber CB aren’t better earlier in the draft. To your point, the Bills found Kyle Williams in the 5th - should they wait until then for another DT? Of course, we all wish that CB wasn’t such a dire need - that would allow them to take (insert your favorite prospect/position). it is going to be very interesting to see how they balance value vs needs and how they maneuver around the board.
  22. That’s taking some big risk waiting for CB unless they have a vet free agent fallback lined up (like re-signing Douglas or Stephon Gilmore). My guess is that if there is a plausible CB like Amos or possibly even Thomas that will be the pick at 30. The drop off at DT in back of round 2 looks less steep than does the CB drop off there. Just my guess, though. They would likely be very tempted if Grant or Harmon were still available at 30.
  23. How much is your Agent’s fee?😀
  24. Those late 5ths and the 6th are unlikely to get much in trade and they are pretty late to hope for much more than getting lucky and finding 1 decent player out of those 4 picks. My $.02 worth is use a couple of those 5ths to improve the spot of one of the 4ths. Alternatively, you could package 2 of the 5ths and get about to the middle of round 4 - thereby having 3 4th round picks.
  25. You think more highly of Dane Jackson than I do. I’m happy he is back as a reserve, but I hope he isn’t starting.
