  1. I don’t even think I’d be willing to trade up for Addison. If he is available at 27, then OK, but trading extra assts to get a 170lb WR would not be smart, in my view.
  2. This thread is very long, so don’t know if this was posted, but I heard on SeriusXM NFL radio that Jordan Addison was even lighter at his pro day than the 173 he weighed at the combine. Supposedly weighed an even 170 at his pro day. I love Addison’s route running, but 170 is super small for an NFL WR. As much as I want them to get help at WR, I’m not sure if I’d have the nerve to draft Addison or Flowers in round 1 and I just don’t like Quentin Johnston. I think Campbell’s intangibles are top notch and he is experienced. I understand that at 27 in this draft they will be doing well to find a decent to above average eventual starter, but Campbell just feels like a consolation prize. Problem is, I’m not crazy about Simpson or Sanders, either.
  3. Hopkins will be 31 before training camp, has bee recently injured, recently suspended for steroids, and carries a big cap value. If it was just a late 2nd in this weaker draft, fine, but the cap $ would have a ripple effect. For those reasons, I am not interested unless he comes very cheaply (pay cut - not interested in extending a 31 year old WR beyond the 2 years already on his contract).
  4. Apparently he couldn’t beat out Brenton Strange. Strange is a decent prospect in his own right. Sometimes a change of scenery opens up opportunities, but you have to look with some skepticism at guys who transfer to lower levels of competition.
  5. Would be nice, but I don’t think there is any chance that Bergeron makes it to the Bills’ 2nd pick, let alone pick 91. I like Kincaid and think he might be the best receiver in this draft - including the WRs. If Hyatt were there at Bills’ 2nd pick, I would consider him, but he would not be a certainty in my mind. I’m in awe of Washington’s size, power and speed for his size, but I have real doubts that he can be more than an extra OL who can make some possession catches. His routes look pretty clunky when I watch him. Now, maybe I’m wrong about him, certainly his physical skill set is enticing.
  6. Every player available at 27 will have a second round grade.
  7. I chose Mingo, but Wypler or Benton would be solid choices in need area too. The draft is weak in areas the Bills need help. No way around that. After round 2 start leaning into the stronger positions in this draft and find some that can contribute instead of reaching for need and striking out.
  8. I wonder if they are looking at him as a LB - what little I found says he is 6’1” 228.
  9. It is a passing league and if you are going to face stacked WR groups like Miami’s and Cinci’s, then having outstanding CBs seems a reasonable plan.
  10. I like him, but as Gunner pointed out - is he any better or different than Khalil Shakir?
  11. I agree that Singletary was under-appreciated by many fans, but Cook and Harris are a fine combination. If they have problems running the ball with those two, I think it will be on the OL or the scheme. I liked that McKenzie appreciated the fans, but he is not a loss that I lose sleep over. Remember, they released him because they think the guys they signed are better - it wasn’t like they couldn’t have afforded to keep him.
  12. I still have hope for Brrown with a healthy offseason, but I would still take Darnell Wright. If Brown is healthy and playing well, then you’d put Wright in at a G spot.
  13. Of course, but how are you going to "rework" his contract? The only option is to extend it for more years and pay him up front. For example, he is due $19.5M next year and 14.5M the next - $35M over next two years. If you pay him that $35M today, you can amortize the that $35M over two year ==> $17.5M cap hit in 2023 and also in 2024. If you want to extend his contract and pay him another, say, $14M for 2025 and pay all of it upfront ($49M), then you can amortize that whole amount across 3 years ==> $16.3M cap hit per year. Let's use the second example and recognize that he will be 31 years old this June, so by June 2025 he will be 33. Let's do that deal for $16.3M/year cap hit ($49M upfront). Now, he decides to retire after 2023 and now you're stuck for the balance of that cap hit next year. I don't see a prudent way to rework the contract and not have $15+M cap hit per year.
  14. The question (as it has always been): how would they fit $35M over next 2 years under cap for an aging, recently injured, recently suspended for ‘roids superstar. Diggs’ cap hit next year is (I think) $28M which is untenable. They will either have to extend him or cut him. Neither good options and trade for Hopkins just compounds the cap issue.
  15. I don’t think so. Murphy is a better athlete, in my opinion, but I’m not a legitimate scout.
  16. I like Murphy - I think he will be quite good in the league. Simpson is SO athletic with great movement skills and really nice size. The hope with him has to be that they pick a single position to let him learn. I think his “instinct” issue might improve with experience at one position, but there is risk it won’t.
  17. I don’t know if I agree completely with the bolded part. I think they would have paid him, if they could have fit it under the cap without having to shed a lot of salary elsewhere. You may be right that MLB isn’t the position to spend that high of draft picks on, but the MLB is part of the mid-field pass defense. I strongly believe that Edmunds’ positive impact wasn’t really understood by many fans. I believe that in addition to the plays he made, he also deterred teams from even trying to pass over the middle.
  18. Last year, 29 teams passed more than they ran. 10 teams passed >60% of the time and several more were very close to passing 60% of the time. I hate watching bad run defense, but the league is now more of a passing league and if you have to prioritize how you pick defenders, it seems smart to prioritize pass defense skills over run defense.
  19. I don’t see a need for another RB with Harris and Cook on board and Hines available. Maybe late as a special teamer.
  20. You dropped the “t”, he drops passes. I meant that to be funny, but go watch a few games of his and see if you can find many passes that he catches with his hands. He body-catches way too much and I have bad visions of Josh Allen fastballs ricocheting off his chest with regularity. If he learns to catch with his hands, he might be good.
  21. Boy, Sanders is raw at LB having played 1 season there. I think those that like him are emphasizing his pass rush skills which are probably not going to be used much if the Bills play D as they have been recently. Now, if they want him and will use him to blitz, then I defer to their expertise. If they want an Edmunds replacement mostly for pass defense and sideline to sideline run D, I think I prefer Trenton Simpson. In the games I watched, he looks like a super-fluid and fast athlete with really good size, but while he has physical skills to be great in coverage, he is not there right now. I think Campbell is most ready to play immediately in Bills’ D, but Simpson has more upside and Sanders brings good pass rush skills. Cedric Tillman at end of round 2 - position of need, good size and hands, good competitiveness. I would not hate it. Schoonmaker at end of round 3 would be nice.
  22. Round 1: JSN or Addison. I’d consider Flowers, but wouldn’t love it. Round 2: Josh Downs, unlikely to be available. Mingo, Tillman, maybe Michael Wilson, consider Dell, I’m not crazy about Rice, but maybe in late 2nd Round 3: Reed, Mims - any of the guys above that might be left. Maybe add AT Perry.
  23. The days of the dominant “bell cow” RB are mostly gone. Titans tried that approach with Derek Henry - they were hard to deal with, but ultimately could not compete with the high octane passing teams. Of course, having a great RB would help any offense, but less so if that team has poor run blocking. I don’t think anyone is arguing that having a top RB would not be awesome. The argument is more about how much you should spend (draft picks, $) on a RB.
  24. I like everything I’ve seen of JSN, yet his one big year came when he had BOTH Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson drawing the defense’s attention. He was injured this year, so he didn’t have the opportunity to show what he could do with defenses paying more attention to him. Of course, that doesn’t make him a bad prospect, but it is something I wonder about. Still, I’d be happy to take him if he were available.
  25. I’m concerned about how thin Addison is, but I think his smooth route running and good hands outweigh his metrics. He just moves loose and smooth. I’m not pounding the table for him, but of the WRs, he is one I could live with in round 1 (assuming JSN is gone).
