Yeah, the Bengals execution and coaching were much better today.

Historically, light snow has never been an issue. Wind or heavy precip would've been an actual issue for both teams today, but this was not such a day.

Have to get better up front.  Have to.  Beane should focus on the O-line first.  So many resources already spent on the D-line.

Diggs left before the coaches even got to the tunnel, was talked into coming back by Duke Johnson but then left again after a few minutes.

Not a great look for a team captain.

He was in the locker room when McDermott addressed the team, per McDermott.

I’m more concerned how both lines looked during the actual game.    And the lack of a consistent second WR.
As long as Diggs doesn’t let his frustration cause him to get arrested for something he’ll be fine.

What advantages did the Bengals have that they wouldn't have had in a dome?

This is gonna be a fun narrative to hear all offseason 🙄

Bengals have a better team wherever the game would be played.  Both lines getting beaten up had nothing to do with weather.  But folks gotta search for reasons, especially when the loss is still fresh.

Couldn't agree more.  Very nice write-up.

My only caveat would be that this seemed to be "one of those days" in terms of it being a total team breakdown.  And the Bengals are a very good team.  Let's hold off drawing sweeping conclusions from this one game in particular.  But man, we've had issues with both lines all season . . .

The offensive line needs to be revamped with major resources and possibly position switches.  They also badly need another playmaker on the outside to get the double-teams off Diggs.   I think doing that will see Beane have to let a few significant guys walk because Allen’s new cap hit starts next season.

Yeah, he showed up for work.

He pouted when he came here.

So what?  He’s not from Buffalo.  He’s born, raised, went to college and played professionally in Pennsylvania. Of course he didn’t want to go anywhere.

Showing up to work is exactly all he needed to do.   He played hard, played hurt and produced over time.  He was a professional.  What you’re talking about doesn’t matter at all.

Eric Moulds was one of my favorite Bills during that era.

I’m sure when he watches JA play at the stadium on Sunday, he’ll be wishing he had him at QB when he played instead of the likes of Todd Collins, Rob Johnson, Doug Flutie, Alex Van Pelt, Drew Bledsoe, J.P. Losman and Kelly Holcomb.

Where do you think Moulds would rank in Bills and in NFL history if he had JA as his QB?

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/eric-moulds-named-legend-game-104520649.html

Moulds would be at the top if he had Josh Allen.  Lord have mercy, they would dominate even more than Allen and Diggs.  Moulds should have been a nationally known name based on his talent.   I think he will be on the wall eventually.  Not bad but he could’ve been HOF with consistent QB play.

I'll read it soon, but again Shakir catches a perfect pass and Brown doesn't break off route (and probably just an incompletion) what happened afterwards doesn't happen and they are lauding perfect deep throws by Allen.

Smoke was still in position to make a catch.  The DB just made a good play. Smoke needs to attack the ball and break that interception up.  That was the biggest issue.

What about all of the things though that don't potentially tie up in a clean way like that? I've known people who died who loved life and their dreams were coming true and their loved ones struggled immensely after they passed.

It seems like it aligns much more with just the randomness of life and our existences. I grew up in a Christian setting and was in the military where I probably did the. most praying I ever did in my life...and I had the opposite experience, that it wasn't powerful at all and really horrific things still happened.

It's fine if you believe in God...but you're trying to say your own individual experience means it's true. I'm not saying God doesn't exist because of my own individual experience. But I'm willing to see the full scope beyond just my personal experience or the one of any single individual. If God stepped in for Damar but not for the thousands of people who suffer tragedies every day...I'm glad he did for Damar but I've got some questions about everyone else.

I understand where you’re coming from.  I’ve known people who passed away who were having a good life.  I’ve prayed for people and situations  and  didn’t get the results I was praying for.  For whatever reason it wasn’t in His will.  And I get upset like anyone else would.  I get upset watching the news, etc.  Then I pray for wisdom.

My personal experience is all I can give you.  Can’t speak for others.  I can’t believe for others either and I’m really not trying to.  Just giving a different perspective.

    Respect to you.

So when someone has a cardiac arrest and doesn’t make it, is it in part because there wasn’t enough prayer?

Not necessarily.  It means it wasn’t in God’s plan for that person to continue on in this realm.  The Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust.   Prayer is powerful ( I’ve seen that evidence in my own life.)  That doesn’t mean we will always get the result we want.

We see things through a limited prism.  We see the surface of things.  We don’t know about the intricacies of every person or every situation we encounter.     For example, I had a friend who collapsed one day and passed away unexpectedly; had been taking weight loss supplements.     I also know he was seriously struggling with his station in life.   Dreams that didn’t come true, things he wanted to do for his family that he couldn’t do.   He was very unhappy.  And he carried that with him daily.  For us left behind his passing was tragic.  For him?  Maybe the Lord was merciful and brought him home so he could have peace.    Like I said we can only see through our limited prism.

Lamar has teammates and writers calling him out for exaggerating his injury and not playing due to the contract. If true, who would want a player like that? Who would want a player that would skip a PLAYOFF game just to prove a point?

Because some may think that doesn’t make it true.    And any team without a QB will gladly take him.

Getting deals for Oliver, Poyer, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but ... Edmunds are a must.

I'd like to keep Singletary, but I think we can get him resigned for a team friendly short 1 year deal ... the RB FA market is STACKED, so Motor might not get a big payday.

WR, I think we need to go draft route. WR FA crop is very thin ... maybe a vet to round out the WR room.

He won’t be expensive but it won’t be one year.  He’d probably get 3, in part to spread out cap.

I think it's a little too reckless, personally.

Diggs was seen as a good receiver, a potential #1, before he got here. He hadn't made a pro bowl. Now he is seen as a truly elite #1 receiver.

Find someone like the pre-Bills Diggs. Someone who clearly has potential, but hasn't realized it fully yet.

He was seen in league circles as a guy who was a #1.  The draft capital the Bills spent on Diggs is not given up for a potential #1.   Diggs was stuck in a run first offense and getting him in a passing offense would allow him to be himself.

If we lose our DC and can finally move on from the Tampa-2, you'd want to replace him with the only other dinosaur that still runs a Tampa-2?

McDermott hired a DC who believes in the same defensive principles he believes in.   As most head coaches with a defensive background do.   At some point you will have to accept it.  If you want a different defense then you want a different head coach.

But McDermott became a head coach because his defenses were successful.  The Bills defense has had a lot success.  And like every other defense they get their azz whupped sometimes.

Lovie Smith was just a one year placeholder. His job was to right the locker room, endure this horrific season and then step aside. He is being paid very well for it. By all accounts he’s very well respected in NFL circles and is considered to be an outstanding human being so I’m happy to see him go out with a W.

They did that last season with Culley.  It’s not good business practice regardless of the money they pay him.  An established coach with options  probably isn’t taking that job.  A hot, assistant coach with a budding reputation might choose to wait another year rather than take that job.

They have talent on D, but they DO NOT have a lot of talent on offense.

Their only WR that scares anyone is a rookie, the only RB that scares anyone has been injured since October, they have no QB and their OL stinks.

They are still light years away from challenging the Bills in any capacity.

Nah. If they get a legit QB they will be a bigger issue than they already are.  There’s the coming draft and Free agency too; the Bills might lose Poyer and Edmunds and others.    Don’t play the Jets cheap.  Decent QB play can get them in the mix.

Personally I’m shocked that he isn’t dominating in his first couple of weeks back from an ACL. Nah not really. This should provide Tre some excellent motivation. That’s good for the Bills.

No surprise at all.  That’s why I told people to calm down when they were upset he wasn’t playing yet.  It’s gonna be a minute before he’s back to himself, probably next season.  But he still manages to be in position and make a couple plays here and there along the way.

Disagree. The Bills are winless on the road in the playoffs with McDermott, but they are undefeated at home.

There a first time for everything.  At some point through the years McDermott will get his road playoff win.   Home is obviously preferable but if they have to play on the road they won’t be overmatched.

If it did occur in the first half and he played the second half, shame on Miami and McDaniel. McDaniel is proving he is in over his head.

It’s the spotters who are supposed to see these things and pull players out not the coach.  The spotters were supposed to be an independent eye to get around coaches and players not responding to potential concussions.

A lot of people associated with football teams make money post football via appearance fees, photo charges, signed merchandise, etc.  They probably can claim in small claims court (Maryland since that is where team is based) they ($nyder and company) have hurt their livelihood.

They will probably win coupons from WTF and laywers will make a bundle.  The would probably not have sued if they called it the "Redhogs".

I think James would be just fine as the feature back, may even see it next year if Singletary doesn't return. He's got really good speed and quickness.

Singletary is a nice steady back and I mean that as a compliment. But he's been the starter for most of his time here and today was his 3rd 100 yard day in 60 games. That's not NFL starter material, his true position is a #2 RB. We've just never had anyone better or even as good. I think Cook is that guy and the more he's seen the field the more he's shown it. He's averaging nearly 6.0 yards an attempt this year.

They don’t give him many carries.  Motor and Cook had 11-12 carries and got yards.  6-7 carries won’t get a RB anywhere.  When Singletary gets carries he usually produces.   It’s an OC issue not a Motor issue.  His rookie year he was averaging 6 yards a carry but rarely could get more than 10-12 carries.   I like 17 too but we don’t need to throw as much as we do.

Depends if he wants to be on a contender. Not all but some players will take a pay cut to be on a contender just because they want to win. Jacobs knows he ain’t winning ***** in LV

He’s too young to be taking pay cuts .  He won’t get a (relatively) big contract as it is  compared to his peers at other positions.   He needs to maximize while he can.  This next contract is that chance.

productivity is measured over a season.  In  4 years Jacobs has has one season under 1000.  Singletary, even with 2 17  game seasons is unlucky to get his first  over 1000

He doesn’t get the same volume of carries game in and game out like Jacobs.  Neither does Cook.

He looks/sounds fed up with the raiders. Some might call it a stretch but after watching this I think he can’t wait to get out. Also I don’t think we’re resigning Singletary

Singletary can play.  Cook can play.  Gotta give them the ball though.  6-7 carries ain’t gonna get the best out any RB.   Don’t be shocked if Motor is back. Won’t cost a lot.   I like Jacobs.  I think he’ll cost a bit more than Moror will.

Just draft one in the late 2nd or 3rd like we always do 🤷🏾‍♂️ can’t afford to pay another one after we spent on Hines. Too many other more important players to take care of right now.

Hines might get flipped before/during the draft as part of a trade.   It doesn’t appear Dorsey will use him as a RB much.   Question is if they wanted to wait until next season to fully integrate him.   But I can’t see how that makes sense.
