The timing is a douche move by Leslie, if the move was not forced by Bills.

We have Super Bowl aspirations, now we are scrambling.   It’s BS- he quits on team after the rest of NFL secures their coaching staffs, and it’s combine week.

They aren’t scrambling.   They have 3 men on staff with D-Coordinator experience outside of McDermott who can choose to act as the DC.

And all the fantasizing about hiring a new DC from outside the organization who will run a different defense was never happening anyway. They’re going to run the same defense because that’s the scheme McD believes in.

The lack of urgency on the part of Beane and McD going all the way back to the Chiefs game last year and through this year's playoff to get rid of Frazier and bring someone in who can elevate this defense is inexcusable. They have a huge blind spot when it comes to Frazier and I just don't get it. Is it because McD wants a symbolic DC he can tell what to do? Available DCs might be attracted to an opportunity in Buffalo but don't want to be a DC in name only.

It’s not a blind spot.  The defense has been good more often than not.    Obviously, 13 seconds and the Bengals game were bad looks. McD and Beane aren’t as reactionary as the fans.    I don’t take issue with people wanting Frazier out.  I take issue with people acting like the defense was terrible in general.

What I don’t get is this business about available Defensive Coordinators.  What is it about McD’s hirings on the defensive side that leads anyone to believe he’s looking for a DC to run a different system than he’s always run?    Whomever the next DC is will run a similar if not same version of what they’ve been running.  Because that’s what McD believes in.  And they might be better than Frazier in some way.  They could also be worse.   We’re about to find out.

Gosh sue me. Not at will but hung 24 of their 31 points on us on offense with a rookie last string QB.

After our offense kept giving the ball away and putting the D on short fields.  That part.

Agree.  I have no problem generally trying to rush with only 4, but blitzes can be very effective scattered in here and there.  Not saying I want to see the team blitz all the time.  Just saying let's mix things up a bit at times and situations.

They do blitz.  Milano, Edmunds and Johnson.   Poyer sometimes.  Doesn’t always work but that doesn’t mean they don’t do it.

Let’s also not forget the wide open bomb that Waddle dropped on their opening series, which would’ve changed the complexion of the game.

Is the Frazier’s fault or the DB ‘s who dropped coverage? 🤔

I'm fine with no dome but it still should be more state of the art. Instead what we got screams small market. I guess all that matters is that they are staying in Buffalo

What exactly do you want and what exactly can you tell from 4 of 5 pictures?

So I’ve tried to remain positive this entire time with the stadium design. I keep telling myself that at least we have a stadium coming and we didn’t move, etc… However, this is a lower tier college stadium design. I like college football and this design is eerily similar to McClane stadium in Waco Texas (for Baylor). If this was for the university of Buffalo, I would understand the design

Many college stadiums are pieced together section add-ons or older stadiums.  You are really on here trying to equate this stadium design with that?

    Nah.

Do the Bills? No. Do Bills fans? Yes, some. He is a lower end #2 receiver but there are folks on here saying he is a #3 or a #4 and that is plain wrong. Spotrac's projections are not always my cup of tea but Michael Gallop as a comparator for Gabe makes a ton of sense. Similar level of player. A lower end #2 who makes big plays but has a low catch rate.

Give me a higher, more consistent catch rate across from Diggs and Diggs will give us even more big plays.

  6. I chose Robinson.  He’s an elite talent and a 3 down back.  He and Cook would be a sick combo.  Defenses wouldn’t be able to key run or pass.  I only went Robinson because I think the Bills will get a WR in free agency or trade.   And O- line can be gotten in 2nd and/or 3rd.

In reality, I think the Bills wind up trading out of round one and picking up a 3rd.  Two seconds and two thirds would be exactly what they need.

When Milano is out, the defense looks putrid, Edmunds does not impact the defense in the same way. Aside from the tall guy not standing in the middle of the field flat footed, I hardly noticed he was out when he got hurt last year. Klein is better in the run game, that was noticeable.

Go back and watch those games he missed.  You don’t have to like his play style but they did not look good when he was out.

I'm relieved.  I think the Bills would LOVE to re-sign him and probably had it as a top priority, but if Edmunds is going to chase the money, there is no way we can stay in the bidding.

    THANK GOD.

Frees things up fore more important positions.

Not necessarily; he's far from irreplaceable and he's not hate only fast LB out there.

A lot of Edmunds supporters are going to get an education when he is replaced with someone else, and the D marches on more or less the same.

When Edmunds was out this season the D looked bad.  It’s not as cut and dry as you make it out to be.   If he walks they’ll have to make it work, but there’s no guarantee they find a better player right away.

    Good to hear.

Really good player.  And in another time, he’d make all the sense in the world to prioritize and bring back, but with heavy defensive dollars tied up in Von Miller, Tre White, Matt Milano and Micah Hyde (essentially one potential star player at each level of the defense), it’s time to move on.

I’d still be shocked if we didn’t do something stupid like match what will inevitably be a big contract offer from someone else, but this is promising for those of us that want offensive investment this off-season.

Don’t assume letting Edmunds walk  means that money will go to offensive acquisitions; depends on where Beane sees the value: Draft v. FA.  He might see the available free agents having more impactful players on the defensive side and more Offensive Line/WR impact in the draft. And they would need to replace Edmunds.

If he wants to risk playing again, that his prerogative, just not with the Bills. We sacrificed our season this year due to an injury that lead to a cancelled game, no need to potentially do it AGAIN next year.  It’s time to move

    Your logic is flawed.

The Bills didn’t sacrifice anything.  They didn’t even make it to the championship game, so the 1 seed was moot.

What happened to Hamlin was what appears to be a freak occurrence that could conceivably happen to any player on the field; this Sunday or as long as football is played going forward.   Get a grip.

What the Bills do in the regular season means nothing.  It's all about postseason wins.

What they do in the regular season determines if they make it to the postseason to win anything.

You should be very concerned about the regular season.

That said.  My prediction is 12-5.   Depending on moves made in FA and the draft (specifically,

offensive line/ WR) they could surpass that prediction.

When the defense was looking phenomenal in the regular season, McD gave all credit to Frazier and said it's Frazier's defense. I don't think Frazier can take credit when things are going great and not take blame when things go badly.

Frazier is in charge, yes.  It’s also true that he and McD believe in the same defensive principles which is part of the reason Frazier is the DC; that and his HC experience, which was valuable for McD.  Firing Frazier would be like firing himself.   That’s why it’s not a real conversation for fans to engage in.  It’s just a fever dream.

A real convo to have is how can they adjust their principles with the talent on hand or who can they add, and how, to help the defense?   A wholesale change of defensive scheme would probably necessitate  changes in personnel and that ain’t happening in one off-season.  On a whole that  could seriously set the team back even further.

I get why people are pissed; I am too.  But if you’re on watch for a coordinator firing you most likely will be watching for at least another year.

I dunno, it's more about sports karma than the dollars and cents of it all. I'm not talking about his material well being. Anyway, he has been terrible wherever he's played.

And yet he sucks. Don't get me wrong, though -- I'm genuinely impressed by how he's managed to keep hanging around.

Terrible players don’t get paychecks in professional leagues.  He’s not as good as the best QBs, no.  But he’s good enough physically and mentally to keep getting opportunities and earning a better living than most people.   I love it.  Good for him.

  14. If Frazier goes the defense won’t.   This is like the dome/no dome conversation.  McDermott hired a like minded coach to run the scheme.  Would McDermott change his defensive principles and change to a different scheme?    If so,  are the players in place to run that scheme?  Change might make people feel better but doing it could set the team back too.

Hard to imagine that both Bills-KC and Bills-Bengals wouldn't be prime time - I'd expect at least one of those two.

Bills/Chiefs has been on prime time often.  Is it still a pull?  Especially seeing as how the Bengals are their main rival now.

Bills/Bengals I don’t know if networks or league want to run back a prime time game in Cincinnati.  Fresh, bad memories for everyone.
