Color me confused. I'd understand if it was a discount, but that's top dollar.
No it’s not. Like 4 DT’s just signed extensions this off-season at 21+ million per year. That’s top dollar. Oliver is getting middling money.

Speaking of which, from the Card perspective what are they stuck with this year, and how does it affect future years? Does he have offsets with the Cards allowing them to reduce their expense? Can he further screw them by taking a little less? I know he wants hi$, but this is a guy burning bridges as only a guy at the end of his career can. He will retire with a mountain of money. A guy can dream…. 🤷♂️
I’m not saying we NEED him, but if it worked out financially we’d still have competent WR’s even when someone gets a high ankle sprain or another guy pulls a hammy. I feel good about the young guys but they are a gamble, so it will be interesting. Beane isn’t perfect, but he’s got my trust.
.
The Cards have a 22 million dead cap hit this year. I don’t think there’s any way to lessen that because he’s not a post June 1st cut. If he were it would be 11 million this year and next. They chose to get it over with.
I want DHop because teams can’t double him and Diggs. If they did Knox, Kincaid and Cook would go berserk.

not to mention Kincaid will be open all the timeThe cap is going to keep going up.
We can find a way to make this work without “having a tear down”
Knox and Cook too.

when your owner is willing to pay cash$$$, it’s a lot easier to find a way to make it work by both manipulating the cap and the player getting $$$Whatever it takes. Can’t double Diggs and DHop. I’m willing to pay the price with Terry’s money.

A business where you get fired if you don’t win the Super Bowl. Especially when you have Allen as QB.Do it. It’s good for business
I’m all for it. My point was DHop ain’t coming for dirt cheap. It’s a business for him too.

I always thought instead of naming themselves the commanders they should have named themselves the commandos.

Lynn Swann
He was a part of a Pittsburg team that won championships, but he never even had a single 1000 yard season and he isn't even in the top 250 players in all-time receiving yards.
For comparison, Ted Ginn Jr (who was considered a bust at wr) has more receiving yards than him.
Different era. You can’t make a comparison that’s relevant.

Speaking of that, I saw a guy at my gym today wearing a genuine NFL Henry Ruggs III jersey. Why would he do that, especially after having just plead guilty? Like, would you even be allowed in Highmark wearing a Simpson jersey?
Also, for the heck of it, I googled Ruggs and Simpson jerseys, and they are still for sale. Some even for $70-$90. WTF?
I’ve seen OJ Bills and USC jerseys at home and away games.

OBJ and DHop were prohibitively expensive. Maybe Von came to Beane about Ray, and Beane thought - what the heck, we're not strong at DE, Ray is cheap, maybe he's worth a look. In the end, Beane's doing what's best for the team but given Ray's recent history, he might not have been on Beane's radar. Maybe Von put him there?
If Von put him on Beane’s radar then Beane needs to clean out his operation. He has a pro scouting department whose job is to tell him about players who can help at positions of need that are on other teams or other pro leagues.

I thought he looked a little slow - he did mention that he was rusty
What impressed me is how smooth he seemed, like @Buffalo_Stampede said no wasted movement. And the hands looke nice.
He can move. I hope teams put a LB on him.

Favor for Von.
I doubt it. OBJ is in Baltimore and DHop is still in Arizona. They didn’t do him those favors.
Ray probably showed good athleticism, they could use another pass rusher and they bring 90 to camp. Why not sign him?

I’m big on Josh Allen, love his competitive nature, amazed by his abilities but it seems like since the Britney split he’s going pretty deep on posing and modeling. I’ll admit that he looked great at the Kentucky Derby but his poses are a little too much for my liking and now I just a post on IG for caps and it was like this guy thinks he’s a model now. Sorry, don’t like it, flame me all you want but I just want him to concrete on being a rough and tough QB who plows through defenders, not a guy sitting in a armchair posing waiting on GQ to give him a call. The clothes and such are nice but truth be told the only thing that I want to see him modeling is a Super Bowl ring.

If Beane says their league forced it I will believe Beane. But until that is said it was the Bills final decision.
It was the decision they needed to make.
1. We don’t know what the Bills investigation turned up but it’s always possible other information could arise that they couldn’t foresee.
2. It would be a distraction that was bad for the team as a whole. Players would be asked about it constantly and the players would have no information one way or the other. An organization is not potentially derailing their season to keep a rookie punter they can’t definitively say is innocent (even if they think he might be).
3. There most definitely should be legal consequences for any woman who lies about sex crimes. But I don’t fault the Bills for making the decision they did.

Hurts is a more athletic Tua but on a better team
Hurts is a more athletic Tua, with a stronger arm, more durable and available to play. That kid is legit. I think he’s better than Tua.

You'd think they'd be signing a RT and ILB. They've done absolutely nothing about either of our 2 biggest needs yet. Is there a plan?
Beane McDermott might not see either of those positions as a need. He seems to like who they have in the building already. We’ll see how that works out.

The best analogy I can come up with is Wembley is the national stadium, sort of like the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Neither is a home stadium for a specific team. Tottenham is the actual home stadium to for the Hotspurs, sort of like SoFi stadium would be for the Rams/Chargers. Just like in Los Angeles the two stadiums are only a few miles apart from each other. Hope that helps.
Rose Bowl is home for UCLA.

That is a worst case scenario. Like a Tommy Doyle playing on a blown ACL, team getting cooked alive, worst case scenario.
Brown’s play last season had me thinking worst scenario. I hope it was the result of his back keeping him from training like Beane said. Way too many jail breaks on his watch.

I hear you, but if Brown has issues again they will need to try something else.

I'm interested to see if they would consider Edwards a RT option. He played there in college and a bit in LA his rookie year.
Bates can play OT.

We needed him so much we barely utilize him as a pass catcher and then drafted someone who catches passes better from the same position.
should have been Washington imo. But I’m ok with Dalton.
They don’t really play the same way. Kincaid is a jumbo receiver. They can use him like a WR in alignment. Knox is a traditional TE.

I get those wants and needs absolutely. One of things you need to realize at mlb though is: they haven’t given up on Bernard, even if a lot of us have forgotten about him since he didn’t play. They have their bets on him hedged with bringing back dodson and klein but I think they think Bernard has a real chance to develop into something. They will absolutely give him a chance and I wouldn’t expect an early rd (day 2) pick for LB.
More offensive line help? Absolutely throw it on me. They can take 3 OLs in a row if the value’s there go ahead.
I’d bet DT next but I’m good with Oline too. Give us all the big uglies.

Unless there's a change in philosophy on offense, I don't get it.
He's going to get less playing time and targets than Knox. This helps us how, exactly?
They are different styles of player. Kincaid is a jumbo WR. Very athletic, smooth, good hands. He’s a matchup problem. There’s nothing to complain about with him. It helps us because he’s a legit weapon in a passing offense.

I’d argue it makes them worse. That’s a lot of money going to a single player who’s not gonna be an all pro. He’s got a slightly higher cap hit than Diggs and he’s not currently in the same league as Diggs as a WR.
The opportunity cost of OBJ is significant, and Beane probably took one look at that market and said hell no.
I think you undersell a healthy OBJ. And like I said, some teams are willing to take chances to win. They needed WR help badly. And they needed to show Lamar they were willing to help him. We’ll see how it works out.
Ed Oliver big extension

No, it would be more. That’s why teams do deals early. It’s a risk but it could be a great deal for the Bills.
It’s almost like some posters on this board don’t know that several DT’s this off-season signed extensions at 21-24 million per year. And Chris Jones and Quinnen Williams haven’t even gotten theirs yet. Chris Jones signed an extension 4 years ago that is similar to what Oliver just agreed to. It’s not that much in the grand scheme; especially if he gets more consistent
