all I'm sayin is that for all this pistol this mobile qb that talk, some of gaileys best work came with a traditional style QB, therefore its not a foregone conclusion that we will def. require a spread option QB to run the "pistol" offense, because we don't know if he will run that or not.

dude thigpin was a 3rd string last ditch effort if you remember, croyle and huard were the top 2 guys and both got hurt, so gailey changed the Offense on the fly, before thigpin, they ran a traditional style offense, the spread simplified things for him, made it easier to manage, yet still, they didnt win with that system. Kordell stewart had the tools, and gailey figured out how to use him effectively, that doesnt show a preference. Gailey also coached TROY AIKMAN in Dallas, so he does have experience with a traditional drop back QB, and if you recall, his greatest success (2 playoff berths in 2 seasons) came with that style of QB, so MAYBE it isnt that far fetched to think that he wants a traditional QB, and the best traditional QB available is Jimmy Clausen.

now that is something I've thought for a while now, whats up with that, is it the routes they have him run or what. I know the only time I've seen him catch the underneath stuff is in the ATL game when brohm hit him 3-4 times on short/intermediate routes, I almost shat myself, couldn't believe it, lee caught the short stuff. Absolutely he should be doing more for 9 mil a yr. Maybe Chan and his new offense will find more clever ways to utilize Lee, and all our wr's for that matter.

my guess would be a good one, which eliminate trent and fitz. History has shown us that Chan has utilized mobile qbs before, but that doesn't mean he wants a run first guy or option/spread guy. Maybe he wants a guy that has enough mobility to roll out and sells play-action well, a guy that runs bootlegs and naked bootlegs, but isnt necessarily a dynamic threat with his feet. Maybe he wants a guy that has improved every year in a prostyle offense, a guy that plays hurt, a real actual QB, who moves around in the pocket keeping his eyes downfield to throw the strike to the open WR, maybe he wants a QB that can handle a high pressure situation, maybe he wants..... yes he does exist, available, well he was, mcnabb has been a consistent winner, so has manning, brady, rivers (so far), favre, all consistent winners, yr in and yr out. At the very least they have been able to posts back to back winning seasons, hell even eli, flacco, ryan, culpepper, hasselback, rapelisburger, palmer, pennington have been able to do that much, yet the human highlight reel known as Mike Vick was NEVER able to do it. point is vick is now on the typical downside of his career, and has never had the sustained success of any of the players listed above, so why bring him in? My position is that we should DRAFT a franchise QB, this yr, that guy is clausen.
