lightning spiller couldn't do jack against south carolina this yr except on a kick return. The guy looks to bounce it at every opportunity and is not a good b/t the tackles runner (r. bush). just like bush, that approach won't translate immediately. we are better off with Clausen.

Obviously, I'm not ready to call maybin a bust, and hold out hope that the 3-4 is a better fit for him, with that said, despite Orakpo's look, I don't think he necessarily would've seen the field too much more than Maybin with Jauron calling the shots, I really think that aside from being drafted waaay out of position, Maybins lack of PT is a function of Jaurons philosophy on rookies, and life in general. He didnt want to throw the kid into the fire unless completely necessary, see byrd for another example of that philosophy. I think jauron babies his players, and in terms of rookies, he wants them to sit and learn unless he HAS to play them. this yr is a big yr for this team and especially for Mr. Maybin, and I for 1, am excited to see what happens

its a team game, and I'm a team first guy, so of course, I will root for the team no matter who plays QB, will I be skeptical of our chances to win with certain players at QB, yes, will I order the NFL Sunday ticket to see every game if we dont upgrade the QB position, NO, nor will I spend the 20-50 bucks to go out the the bar and watch the game. But I will still support the team, always have, always will
-
just a reminder, Orakpo also had albert haynesworth, and andre carter taking the heat off him, Maybin nor anyone else we would've drafted in that spot, would not have had that luxury last yr. Just saying, its not all about the single player, its a TEAM game.

That was such a load of ****, old school BS like that should not be tolerated, he could've ruined JP's career before he ever got a chance. I dont care what his excuse is, you dont intentionally hurt guys on your own team, its counterproductive to the team goals. F*ck troy vincent

cutler is sloppy with the ball and over relies on his huge arm, why do you think he threw 20 picks last yr. thats not clausen at all. you want the cutler clone of this yrs draft, its jevan snead. pros is pros, college is college, but clausens production and numbers were just as good as the 3 guys that won in college, only difference was the defense, clausen had no help on D cause Weis didnt recruit good Defensive players, Brown, stoops and meyer are all much better recruiters and it showed. Clausen made the choice to go to the guy that would best prep him for the pros. I'll take the guy thats polished and hard working over the gimmick boys that won.

ok, first off, ALL THE QBS at the top of this draft have injury histories, In fact Clausen is the one who played thru them, Tebow, concussion out of game, Mccoy, in the big game takes a baby hit, pinches a nerve, he's gone, and bradford, 2 of the only sacks he ever took at oklahoma resulted in injuries. So what are the options????? I still dont get how you can say he can be blamed for not winning, the guy played great and the D, which didnt have anywhere near the talent of a texas or florida, was simply pitiful. I dont care how inspirational a guy is, if he's preachin to a bunch of talentless bums, it wont matter at all. Bottom line is that despite all the critics, and idiots like todd mcshay, Clausen is the best in this draft, hopefully we will get him, and all you skeptics will be shut up for a while. Its unbelievable that we very well could get our franchise QB and some ppl want to make up every possible excuse not to take him

you put his production on a team with a defense and he doesnt lose. That is why he will buck that trend, I CANNOT emphasize how awful that defense was, especially against the run, it was embarassing. Like I said, If clausen had the defense that TT had at FLA, during his career at ND it would be a completely different story. And as others have pointed out, JC did what he did this yr with torn ligaments in his foot and a broken toe virtually all yr. Some team even stomped on his foot during the games, But that didnt stop him. He's tough, accurate, he's a leader, a film junkie and a gym rat, he wants to win and is dedicated to doing everything he can to win. I don't understand why everyone is so down on this guy he made some dumb decisions as a 17-18 yr old HS student big deal, He's a MAN now, and he should be our 9th pick.

yeah I know, but it seems like some ppl want to discount byrds picks and said most of them came off deflections, which is simply not true, the majority of them came clean, and even the deflections, many of them, were difficult grabs. Jarius deserves all the credit for being such a huge impact in his rookie yr, there wasn't much luck about it IMO. -
its quite clear to me that the Qb also has control over the defense, not in the sense that he actually plays defense, but that if the defense is good and full of top recruits, then he will reap the benefits, such as defense creating turnovers, keeping the opposing teams score lower, and giving the offense a short field. thats how you "will" a team to win, somebody else builds and coaches a top tier defense, and the QB capitalizes on what that defense gives him. this is some excellent analysis, I can't believe I never put 2 and 2 together like this before.

fyi i counted 5 clean picks vs 4 tipped picks, and one of those, the braylon edwards one where byrd was goin the opposite direction was a tough one, so I'd really say it was 6-3, all in all a great pick so far. -
i know right, why would the bills want a guy that is a first in last out type and holds his teammates accountable, plays thru pain, and is a film junkie. they should def pass on clausen and take a qb later that doesnt have nearly the work ethic, they would be much better off with a guy that "willed his team to win" all by himself, cause football is an individual sport of course.

"He expects you to put in the same work that he’s been putting in and to work as hard as him. He tries to make guys better." man we sure don't want a guy like that, what a loser, sounds like a real dick, no wonder everyone hates him seriously though, i'd rather have a guy like that than a trent or fitz any day
-
how many has he had so far? answer: 0 how many concussions has tebow had? answer: 1 at least so we shouldnt take clausen cause he may get concussions and we shouldnt take tebow because he has a history of concussions so who's next?

so is the recent track record of Iowa lineman being touted as top 10 picks, and so is our choice of taking an OT in the top of the first rd. also, those ND guys were taken a loooooooong time ago anyway, you can skew things either way if you try hard enough, how bout this one, whats the success rate of Florida QB's in the NFL (wuerfell, Matthews, grossman, leak, etc) can you name the last great NFL player to come out of Clemson University (for the "lets take spiller" crowd) see how easy it is?

RB Maurice Clarett might get out of the clink soon
CarolinaBill replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sold him out? How? he was the one who took the $$, he was the one who reported 20k worth of stuff stolen from the car he had no way to afford, and he's the one who tried to challenge the NFL rules. The guy is a grade A scumbag/moron, and he ruined his own life ("hold on coach, gotta get my goose on be fo practice") Sold him out, gimme a freakin break -
that about covers it, unless you go the OT route @9

well considering ga tech is an ACC school, im sure chan realizes that, and certain elements of the spread may indeed be incorporated into the offense, just like in Indy, NO, NE.

From what I've seen he talks crap when guys get in his face or when he makes big plays, he's. An excitable guy on the field My avatar is deadpool, and he is awesome
-
that fan was heckling him and screaming obscenities at him, clausen blew off the fan (like any good player should in that situation), and the fan attacked him. you've already admitted you know NOTHING about QB's, well take it from a guy that has a good eye for QB's, Clausen is a good one, football is his life, he wants to be a winner. thats why other players hate him, cause he doesnt think twice about letting the other team know about it when he scores (phillip rivers), does that make him a dick, maybe? but that does NOT mean he's a bad player.
-
don't get me wrong, I love cutler's physical traits, but what has he ever done to be considered a top tier QB? playoffs, back to back winning seasons, really what has cutler done? shannahan was handed elway, he didnt draft him. Shannahan and allen want to win NOW, and history dictates that a mcnabb gives them a better chance at that than a rookie.

as an incoming freshman, and has since acknowledged that it probably was a bit over the top, he's not the same player now.
