BIgger Disappointment: Defense or Fitz
Rob's House replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McKelvin's inability to turn his head is baffling. It's not that hard. When the other guy puts his hands up, look up. It's a shame for a guy with that much talent be so useless. -
Don't know about you, but I had a great afternoon

Are you sure it was a sell out? I had the game blacked out. -

Convenient how you bolded the part of my sentence you wanted to argue with & ignored the part that basically stated your point. If I were TN I'd want a big bodied back to split the load with Chris Johnson (who's done nothing since his 2k season). RB is a punishing position, period. It's not a knock on CJ to prefer a two back system. There are plays that FJ is better suited for and others CJ is better suited for. Each does certain things as well as anyone in the league. I'm not interested in determining who is better. I'd rather have both. And the fact that CJ has played so well that we're even having this discussion is a positive as far as I'm concerned. I don't see it as an either/or proposition. And having 2 top RBs means both stay fresh and strong throughout the season & prolongs their careers. Do you have a problem with that? That pick's starting to look real nice. I can't think of anyone in the league with better break-away speed. -
BIgger Disappointment: Defense or Fitz

Both were huge disappointments, but the defense was !@#$ing gash. As much as Fitz sucked, if the D could have held anything we might have had a game. Fitz was garbage today, but lots of QBs have bad games & no one came into today thinking he was the second coming of Brett Favre, but our vaunted defense bent over for a mediocre offense and took it like the prom queen of cell block 4. -

I'd like to use them similar to the way Dallas used to platoon Felix Jones and Marion Barber when they were both solid contributors. -

So you're saying teachers in the Chicago public school system need tenure so they can be free of the political pressures and school board power structure that would otherwise prevent them from doing their jobs properly? Seriously? [thick sarcasm] No, you're clearly not reaching here [/thick sarcasm] Dude, if the parents of the kids in the failing schools gave half a **** about their kids' educations in the first place the schools wouldn't be turning out illiterate graduates who get a C for coming to class on occasion without throwing a chair at the teacher. -

Fair enough. I having nothing bad to say about Spiller. Based on his size alone I'd like to have someone split the load with him to minimize the punishment, but so far he looks great and has held up well. IIRC he played through that. -

Twice. He had a minor leg fracture which he recovered from, and today he was sidelined with a hit that would have injured anyone. Recurring injuries of a particular nature, like Miles Austin's hamstring, or Shawn Merriman's achilles, are the kind of injuries that indicate someone is injury prone. Two unrelated injuries...not so much. You know, if you fill a bucket with ping pong balls, shuffle it, and pull out a ball, mark it, put it back in, and do this repeatedly, you won't end up with a mark on every ball. Some balls will end up with five or six marks while others will have none. The balls with marks aren't particularly mark prone; it's just the luck of the draw. That's not to say some guys aren't built stronger than others and are better able to sustain the beating of a season, but I've seen little to suggest Jackson is particularly fragile. -

This is why I avoid the main board. So many statements like these that are devoid of thought or logic; and football isn't something that's worth me getting irritated.. I suppose most backs wouldn't have been phased by that hit? Some things are just bad luck. Some people have the capacity to spot the distinction. Others, well... -

^ This right here. Spiller looks like he's turning out to be a superstar, but Fred's a different type of player with a different skill set. They complement each other well. To say we no longer need Fred b/c CJ is breaking out is just silly. Having 2 of the best RBs in the league is not a bad thing. -
Are you suggesting if he was under 30 his knee would have somehow responded positively to that hit?

I'm optimistic that I'm going to save $250 after I cancel Sunday Ticket tonight.

Way off the mark on that one, but I'm used to you guys not knowing your adversary so no surprise there. You guys have a greater tendency to argue with the voices in your head, so ask him how the crow tasted, I wouldn't know. And what part of that means they should be insulated from evaluation and have their employment guaranteed regardless of performance? -

I'm trying not to be nasty because I know I'm in a foul mood today of my own doing (staying up drinking while I should have been sleeping) but I'm getting highly annoyed at the inability of libs to have a rational discussion. EVERY !@#$ING TIME someone challenges a left-wing premise these hypothetical extremes, false choices, and straw men are thrown out as some kind of argument. So please, if you can do so, explain to me why should a teacher be given tenure for working in Chicago or DC? -

Stop painting with you big broad bull **** brush. Conservatives are all for teachers doing well and being well compensated. We just have a problem with teachers being insulated and unaccountable. To follow liberal doctrine to its logical conclusion teachers would be paid exorbitant wages regardless of performance, and the students (who are supposed to be the focus here) would be left to suffer the consequences of the feel good liberal tampon policy. -

First off, I don't live in Chicago so I don't really give a ****. Secondly, I have plenty of teachers in my family, so I'm well aware of what they do and don't earn. I'm all for teachers earning a decent wage and having reasonable job security. I'm just irritated by douche bags who want to paint teachers as this poor downtrodden group who have been nailed to the proverbial cross. And while some teachers are great and make a big difference in the lives of students, most are just regular people working a job, so let's stay in reality. And fwiw, your "shame on you" line makes you come off like a big pusssy. -

From what I gather teachers are exempt from rationality. For some unexplained reason they're all entitled to executive pay. The fact that the average per hr. wage of teachers is above the median for their level of education, the almost unparalleled job security, and long stretches of time off are not to be considered when pontificating over the plight of the American teacher. -

Why can't you lefties ever give a rational and coherent argument without resorting to some retarded strawman argument? Jesus Christ, there is room beneath yall's ridiculous, baseless assertion that teachers are the patron saints and martyrs of our time and them being absolutely worthless. Tenure is a bull **** proposal. You're telling someone because they didn't !@#$ up too bad for 3 years they're now insulated? WTF? Why are teachers put up on this pedestal? Why are they exempt from the realities everyone else faces? -
Please explain how this works?

It is telling that NO ONE has even attempted to offer up an explanation here.
