  1. So it's inappropriate to speak negatively about someone's job performance, even if your job is to evaluate and report on said person's job performance, unless you can beat that person up in a fist fight? Is that what you're saying?
  2. I think it's the latter. A local radio guy talked about doing an event with Lynch. He said Lynch was great with the kids and other people, but he was really uncomfortable with him (the reporter). He said they spent most of the day together and after a few hours Lynch opened up, but he got the feeling talking to the press was outside his comfort zone. I can't say I blame him. I'm comfortable speaking in front of a crowd but I don't even like leaving messages on answering machines. I don't know how I'd feel knowing my every word was going to be memorized in print for all time.
  3. I bet they could get Alan Thicke Jr. to sing his song at halftime.
  4. Twice in school, once in HS and once since, I've seen a person who was made to speak before a group lose it mid-sentence and walk out the door - and those were in front of classes of apx. 20 and 150 respectively, not a national Super Bowl audience. It wasn't because they just didn't feel like it, they just aren't wired that way. Some people can play football, but aren't comfortable speaking in front of a crowd. I think it's a scumbag move for the NFL to refuse to make an exception for someone who clearly has a serious problem with it.
  5. I can't believe this guy slipped past me in my own back yard. I haven't paid attention to UVA b/c they suck, but I watched this guy against OR & VT and I must say I was impressed. I'd feel really good about him holding down the RT position for the next 10 years.
  6. You may be right, but I tend to think if I made a list I think it would be difficult to say whoever landed at #20 is clearly better than Decker.
  7. In fairness to Decker, he played well when Tebow was there too. The stats weren't gaudy, but he was solid. It wasn't surprising when he lit it up the past two years. I would expect his stats to drop a little w/o Manning, but I suspect he'd still be a top 20 WR +/-.
  8. Do you honestly think if the Bills had not drafted Spiller & not traded Lynch he'd play for the Bills right now? Can you walk me through that one, because I'm not seeing it.
  9. They could do what the Pats did & trade off players as they get older & more expensive for picks they can use on fresh affordable talent.
  10. Moncrief's one that could be a steal. He doesn't have spectacular short area burst, and the ball occasionally bounces off his hands, but he's still a big guy with good deep speed who can win a contest for a jump ball, break a tackle, and he's still shifty enough to use his moves & agility to get open. He's also a halfway decent run blocker. If we took him in the 3rd I'd be ecstatic.
  11. I can't see anyone parting with a high pick for Cousins. He's shown some potential, but he's also shown his limitations. I can't imagine any point in the first 2-3 rounds where there won't a QB available that I personally would prefer to him.
  12. I wasn't that happy when I first heard about the Schwartz hire, but after seeing his presser & assistant coach hires I'm starting to get pretty fired up about these guys.
  13. Yeah, I've been talking about my "sources" for a while now. You are correct, it was a joke and not intended to be a shot at anyone. Just between us, I don't actually have inside sources, but don't tell the others, I have a reputation to uphold. I, and I'll venture most of the board as well, tend to appreciate those who do have connections that take the time to share what they hear. I think it's a bit silly for someone to call you out for passing on a rumor that you heard. Just because the team ultimately went in a different direction doesn't mean it wasn't an option they contemplated.
  14. I haven't been losing sleep over it, but I was disappointed when we cut him. He ran really well in pre-season here, and it wasn't just a stat sheet performance. You could tell the guy knew how to follow his blockers and hit the hole.
  15. Or maybe the racial epitaphs were just two guys !@#$ing around. Must everything that touches the issue of race be disgusting and outrageous? Maybe we should all chill the !@#$ out.
  16. What evidence supports your theory? And if you're using that voicemail you've already lost. But I'll wait. That pretty well sums it up.
  17. It's interesting to me how many people bend over backwards to defend this guy. Your use of the racial angle speaks poorly for your credibility, but hey, if the race card's there might as well play it, right?
  18. Quite the opposite, actually. It was the failure to do so that is the issue. It's a tough sport for tough people.
  19. +1 The guy's obviously got some behavioral issues, but he's a hell of a player on the field & might bring some much needed fire to the culture. He'd likely be on his best behavior, probably won't be expensive, & if he causes problems you can cut him.
  20. I've heard of him.
  21. I've heard of both of them.
  22. I see. Do as you say, not as you do?
  23. I'm coming around. I have said this is a far better hire than what could have otherwise happened. I've not been impressed with much of what he's done in Detroit, defense included, but he's here so rather than continue to be negative about it I'll just be glad we got a guy with experience instead of some newb whose primary qualification is already being on the payroll. I just hope he leaves that Wide 9 garbage in his rear-view.
  24. A few thoughts: With Moeaki and Chandler we potentially have 2 very strong, though not elite, TEs in the mix. I don't believe an elite TE is harder to find in the mid rounds than most other positions. A significant upgrade at LG would make Urbik look much better at RG, and Legursky would make for nice depth. Significant upgrades at LG and RT would give us one of the best offensive lines in football. If Hairston's out of the picture it might be a good idea to draft a RT and keep Pears around for 1 more year to ease the new guy in and maintain depth. Our center's name is Eric Wood. I'd like to see TJ Graham play one more season before giving up on him. He's not there yet but he's shown significant progress. If there isn't a blue chip WR this year (it's debatable), specifically one available when we pick, it might be wise to take BPA at a position of some need and look at WR next year or in FA. We've got young talented guys who very well may break out this year.
  25. But when he emerged from Ryan's shadow last year he produced. Granted it was only 1 season, but it's hard to discount the stark contrast from the previous year and the careers he resurrected.
