  1. When off shoring started in the 1970s the reason given was we can't compete if we do not off-shore, of course who were they competing against? other economically developed countries or other American businesses- who they were not competing against were indigenous companies using their own cheap labor, off-shoring wasn't popular here but when the people protested the answer was we have to compete against the Europeans, off-shoring was also unpopular in western Europe but when the people protested the answer was we have to compete against the Americans- and the net effect only marginally lowered prices on products but mainly caused stagnation and now decline in the working mans wages, unemployment, and increased wealth disparity.
  2. BTW how much of that cost is because it's biofuel and how much is it because it's the military- The price of a gallon of Biodiesel in this ad is 4 dollars this is the military that spends $400 on hammers and $4000 on toilet seats- this is the military that just oops don't know what happened to at least eight billion dollars in Iraq- so you expect thrift for their biofuels lol.
  3. I'd like to know how Mitt got a $100 million into an IRA, that must be some pretty fancy financial maneuvering to pull that off.
  4. As a progressive I think the government should buy everyone bullet proof amour and helmets that every man women and child must wear when they leave the comfort of their homes- in case of a bullet strike the amour would automatically call 911 with GPS coordinates- OK problem solved next.
  5. Bring back leather helmets- seriously I remember reading articles that said the NFL pretends that football helmets, shoulder pads, etc are defensive in nature but they are really offensive in nature- they know that soft pads would limit some injuries but they don't make that satisfying thud sound on impact and you'd end up with ratings like rugby.
  6. What you no likey Koch propaganda served up with a heaping serving of Ayn Rand I love the absurdity of a rag that rabidly declares the market as sole arbitrator of what is good, effective and worthy of existence can't exist without it's donations.
  7. That kid is not an ordinary kid he probably has had violence done to him or at least sees violence fairly regularly (and I'm not talking about TV violence) he may have brain abnormalities either congenitally or more likely injury through violence. I suppose private daycare has no rules about how children are grouped by age (the school where I worked it was a two year age spread 0-1,2-3, 4-5,6-7) exceptions were sometimes made for children who were outliers in size. While not a cure all for violence age groupings ameliorates the damage somewhat- back to the kid he has probably exhibited pretty extreme aggression since he was 4-6 but it was shrugged off as a boys will be boys kinda thing and judging how he hid his behavior (abet not that anyone was paying too much attention) he's been doing this type of stuff for awhile.
  8. Don't worry when the Republicans take over in Mississippi they will put an end to stuff like this.
  9. Yeah why not judging by her husband she doesn't have a lot of wear and tear down there.
  10. no one is going to give you money for pushing a pickup truck as fast as you can for 30 secs for intervals no one is going to give you money for working out with homemade sandbags no one is going to give you money for sprinting up hills with a weighted vest on if you want money you have to pump up and sell the dream
  11. It's a terrible thing that has happened but I hope I don't have to be padded down or walk through a metal detector to watch a movie and while I'm a progressive and not a huge gun advocate I realize more and more that our government is corrupt from the top all the way down and that maybe an armed population is the only thing that keeps them in check even a little bit so I can't get behind this terrible tragedy as a cause for gun control- Our absolute safety is something that has never existed and never will exist, at least not in a society that has a modicum of freedom- what we have to do in my opinion is stop looking for quick solutions and start doing the hard slow work of changing our culture of violence - first we have to realize what is violence - war yes, terrorist acts yes, torture yes, but also fraud, exploitation, verbal abuse, deprivation, sanctions, spanking- in fact any time we violate the most basic rule of civilized behavior "do on to others as you'd have others do on to you" the golden rule, which almost all civilizations have a version of- we are doing violence and in that violation we are inviting violence back to us.
  12. Ha that's funny because I immediately thought you were Magox then I thought can't be where are the long a$$ diatribes- so where are you? London getting ready for the Olympics and explaining why LIBOR rigging is just market making to the yokels. Hey and another vid in your honor
  13. Here's one for the dear departed Magox out traveling the world no doubt he always loved Youtube vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ7RrjJx1ZU
  14. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that alone. Others helped make that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. Rob you seem to be a little more shrill and emotional than usual.
  15. This is what Politifact has rated a pants on fire
  16. I find this the most telling/disturbing thing in the article. 1. If I'm an Israeli I'm not happy about my military being used this way. 2. As an American I'm not happy with a guy so cozy with Israel being so influential in American politics.
  17. LOL any progressive who posts on this board is going to be sorely disappointed if they do so seeking validation.
  18. We supported Mubarak until it was clear he was done now will we support the Egyptian military rule unless it looks like they're done.
  19. The most important thing is Mitt ain't Walter.
  20. Obama wins because he's the real Gus Fring- nice guy on the outside stone killer on the inside.
  21. This should not be unexpected, Hilary is trying to give a blanket of legitimacy to what amounts to the old regime minus Mubarak, high levels of poverty and very high levels of youth unemployment combined with systemic government corruption leads to a lot of unhappy campers who unlike Washington don't want business as usual.
  22. For the most part if the Bills put a quality product out I don't think this will be an issue one way or another- it would be nice if Ralph occasionally used the option under hardship conditions (combination of brutal weather and losing)
  23. I'd never hate on Maybin - I hate on the people who picked him- remember he was suppose to be a DE, so a personnel guy thinks to himself "hey you know what would be a good idea lets pick a guy who's bulked up 25lbs, killed his speed, and is still 25lbs lighter than idea." oh and lets pass on a guy (Brian Orakpo) who'd be a perfect fit while we do it to show what geniuses we are.
  24. This, and I'd add Kelsay, Merriman, and McGee (McGee and Kelsay I think have restructured so they are likely safe but you never know) to the list as possible cuts. I think we will enter the season being about 12 millions under and that money will be spent on Byrd, Levitre and Urbik.
  25. Generally in the past I've been the wet blanket on irrational Bills exuberance predicting mediocre win/loss performance and usually pretty accurate in doing so. It's early (official predictions made after the last preseason game) but I predict the Bills going 11-5 and beating out the Pats in a tie breaker. I think most of the reasons are well known 1. A much better pass rush 2. A secondary with very good ball skills- in combination with the pass rush I expect interceptions galore 3. Threat of the deep ball keeping defenses honest- last year when teams moved their defenses up to make it hard for our great grinders (Johnson, Jackson, Chandler) we didn't have the speed to make them pay a price- This year with Jones, Easley, Graham, Dickerson and Onobun the speed is back and defenses will have to think twice about crowding the line. 4. Overall depth -best depth I've seen on a Bills team since the glory days 5. Still better than average special teams Well that's my take and if you know me you know I'm not the Senator predicting "19-0 baby" every year.
