Bradley Chubb makes a lot of sense since JPP. I also think Rosen makes a lot of sense for G-Men. But I also think that Beane may well decide to package an offer Gettleman cannot refuse. And if he does Josh Rosen will be sporting a Bills uni imo (right after Browns pick Sam).

Smokescreen. I would not be surprised if the Bills really like Allen. They were not trying for the #3 spot to draft Lamar. You need to have a view on whether Allen can clean up his mechanical/technical issues (my guess is he can) and whether he has or can develop pocket presence (idk the answer to that question). But if you have reasonable enuf confidence to think that the answers may be positive then you are looking at a guy who belongs at or near the top of the draft.

If indeed they tried to move up to #3, Lamar was never the primary target imo. That would be moving picks for nothing and not something Beane would do.

I would have no problem getting behind Lamar at #12. And I can see how Beane might like him. Although he is not the same player as Cam Newton, they are similar inasmuch as both are capable of making plays with their legs and both enter the league with questions surrounding their ability to execute consistently in the passing game. And I would'nt be surprised either if Lamar developed as a pocket passer in a way similar to what Cam has been able to do - not in the same class as the league's elite passers but good enuf to keep defences honest - so a clear notch above what Tyrod brings to the table. But if the reports of the Bills having made a strong play for the #3 spot are true, and I believe them, it suggests to me that Lamar is not their # 1 QB prospect because they would not have needed to move up that high to pick him. So probably the preferred target was one of the top 4, probably Darnold or Rosen but possibly also Allen or Mayfield (with Allen ahead of Mayfield imo). Question then becomes whether the Bills think whoever is leftover after the QB feeding frenzy is over justifies an early pick (at 12) while still allowing for team building and filling holes in the roster. Of course there remains the possibility of a trade up on draft day because only then do you know how things actually shake out for the Bills and other teams.

When I'm naked anyone can see I have a weapon on me. Regarding Zay I hope he can turn things around. Sounds like about 180 degrees is what is called for. I still think he can be a good receiver. JuJu was the guy I wanted tho. Have to admit I did'nt know Zay at all.

Actually he's 6'2"1/4 and weighs 216. He prolly wont get any taller but he will get bigger and stronger. His technical/mechanical issues are a little overblown imo. If he's the guy he will be ready by mid-season. Mind you dont expect him ever to turn into Drew Brees. His ball placement/accuracy will probably never be that good. But there is every reason to think that he can develop into a competent passer who will be capable of making plays, including big plays, with his arm.

Why wouldnt there be talks? Maybe the Browns would even ask for less than G-Men who knows? Don't think its happening though. Browns already have lots of picks. They are taking Sam IMO. Something tells me that if the Bills ever wound up with the pick they would likely do the same.

This guy is young, has lots of experience and is very talented as far as his measurables are concerned. When it comes to the secondary I have full confidence in McCoach's ability to evaluate players. If he thinks he can help this kid leverage off his physical skills in his scheme I'll be intrigued to see how it works out.

No. One of the positives in his case is that he has relatively little tread on his tires. He's good for sure, but there are a few issues - tends not to gain yards after contact and has work to do in pass blocking. Unless he improves in pass pro he's prolly not a three down back at the next level. I think he maybe lasts until the third round.

To me MR is not a first round talent. Not first tier = not first round. I would probably take White or Lauletta or maybe even Fergusson ahead of him.

I pretty much agree with what DK says about this year's class. I see Rosen as the likely front runner and have always also seen Matt Ryan as a good comparable. But I also agree that there is not much difference on a net basis between the top four (or 5 guys - I'm a bit more postive regarding Allen than he seems to be) when you consider their relative strengths and weaknesses. There is no Andrew Luck in this draft but there are good prospects who qualify as legit top half of the first round talents so I think there's a good chance that the Bills get to draft one of them if they see it the same way. I most like Rosen but I'm not sure that I'd gut this and maybe next year's draft to land him as opposed to staying put and picking Jackson later in the first at either 12 or 22. Could say the same about Darnold and Mayfield.

I think the Bills would really like that # 2 spot, reason being that they are comfortable with either Darnold (on the off chance the Browns don't jump on him) or Rosen. Maybe like the Iggles re Goff or Wentz. And I think its quite possible they value Darnold over Rosen, tho if so it speaks to their risk appetite and projections more than demonstrated ability IMO. I think that if the Giants are not taking a QB, there is a very good chance that a deal gets done with the Bills. I'm inclined to think that they are going QB however and will not be trading down to 12. Depending on just who these teams like at the QB position, there could be the possibility of a three way trade with maybe Indy. I think its unlikely G-Men would accept #12 if they Want a QB.

One of the criticisms I have come across more than once in evaluations of Allen's mechanics is that he does not rotate his hips properly and so actually sacrifices optimal velocity ie its all arm strength. I dont myself see this when he gets to set up and fire from a clean pocket, which is logically where you'd expect to notice it, but it may be true.

Yeah I really don't understand this velocity thing very well. To me Jackson's tape shows plenty enuf arm strength ( and occasionally even some real arm talent). As for Peterman I'm not yet ready to say he has a noodle arm. Need to see more. This year in TC he needs to show that he is starting to acclimate to nfl gamespeed. If that does'nt happen then yeah he's probably just another 5th round QB so no surprise there.

If we are talking about the same plays, where Thompson was the target, one was an overthrow (I dont think it lacked pace) and in the other it was Thompson who "sat" on the route. I could be wrong but for now I can't comfortably conclude that the guy has no place on an nfl roster. I think part of his problem may be overcompensating by putting a little too much mustard on the ball at times, sort of how Fitz did from time to time. Question remains whether he can make the throws if he tones it down a bit. Lack of talent or lack of experience? I dont feel like I can say for sure. Yet.

TBH I didnt know Zay and had never seen him play. I had seen a half dozen of JuJu's games and liked him a lot. Starts to look again like the Steelers knowing how to evaluate WRs and the Bills, well, not so much. I think we need to refrain from judging Zay until we know more about what actually went down but if this is drug/partying related I will be very disappointed. I get the "20 year old millionaire" excuse but after Kujo and MD I'm starting to have my fill of this stuff. And I can see why teams put so much value on character and professionalim. Having guys on your roster who f'up, especially if their talent should put them in a leadership role, is going to seriously and negatively impact your chances for success.

JMO but its too early to throw him on the scrap heap. One game does not a career make or break. To me his arm strength is hardly impressive but is not far off average, if at all. I dont for now see how its worse than AJs. I dont think its necessarily the case that AJ outperforms him in TC either. So yeah I think there may be some amount of overreaction in the general drift of opinion on him. It may be justified, it may not. I think we'll probably find out soon enuf.

Agree. I want to see more of Reilly. Looks to me he may be a good player. Everybody says we need speed. Reilly runs a 4.37, has good hands, wins contested chances and tracks the ball extremely well.
