  1. to me, fitzpatrick's best qualities are the one's you cannot measure. he seems like a very humble, honest, hard working, family oriented guy. to me that's important because i can show my kids an example of how hard work and doing things the right way can pay off. as far as football goes. i've said it before and i'll say it again, this guy plays the qb position the way i want my qb to play it. as far as "franchise" qb...i believe that he could be the guy that is the quarterback of this team as they go forth and compete for a superbowl. and i believe that they have won and will win some games directly because of his leadership and intelligence. he does not work for the physical model of the prototypical "franchise qb", but i feel a very strong connection to him and right now i don't want anyone else to be the qb of this team. can't help it, i am a billiever.
  2. it's a good feeling being outright enthusiastic rather than catiously optimistic. i agree that the people they have in place right now-whaley, nix, gailey, wannstedt, maybe even modrak-seem to be making good descisions and moving this team in the right direction. i also appreciate that they seem to get rid of malcontents and divas quickly and replace themn with hard working guys that would seemingly have strong character. now bring on the patriots!
  3. remember terrence cody...i still have trouble sleeping at night. seriously though, if this guy can be good enough to get into the rotation, he will be one of everyone's all time favorite bills.
  4. i love the premise of drafting instinctive football players that like to hit over incredible atheletes that tear up the combine. combine that with the description of last years draft class (a bunch of self-motivated players that have had to work their butts off to get where they are) and i love the overall philosophy. i'll take a guy that is a half step slow that is always in position and ready to blow someone up rather than a guy that is fast as hell that doesn't know where he's going any day. my optimism this year also has a lot of excitement to go with it too!
  5. sorry 'bout that, chasing kids around and just got done reading 4-5 negative, whiney posts and was in smartass mode on that one. my bad, upon further review...op makes much sense and i agree.
  6. if we took one at #3 this year would you have been happy?
  7. not only am i thrilled at the picks we made, i love the picks we didn't make. this shows that we are going to give some players a chance to develop and show what they can do. and it shows that our coaching staff has faith in some players that the national media love to bash. so yeah, i'm all in.
  8. i agree, i love this draft even with all the db's and an rb. but you know what? we needed them. sure we need our olbs to step up as well as finding someone to man the rt position full time. but if we can get a bit of relief from the injury bug and some of these guys develop and get healthy this could look like a very different team. and as far as fitzpatrick goes. i love the guy. he plays the position as i like to see it played and he has incredible heart and leadership. he has the respect of his coaches and teammates, and he is a great, not good, but great human being. now i have but three words left to utter... LET'S GO BUFFALO!
  9. give some guys a chance to develope, others a chance to come back from injury, and others a chance to continue what they started last year. fill in with a couple fa's and let chan coach 'em up. we had moments on offense last year, if we could have consistancy, that's half the battle.
  10. williams-troup-jasper-dareus. go ahead and run it up the middle!
  11. every time i see or hear anything about him i like him more and more. i am so amazingly happy that the panthers picked newton. newton wants to be a rockstar, dareus wants to be embraced by the fans...well big d, you got it!
  12. i was in the "wtf just happened?" crowd for most of the picks after dareus, but in the end i am good with all of them because of what our current roster looks like. keep in perspective that we are in year 2 of the rebuild and this draft seemed to focus heavily on db depth. we have quite a few fa's or potential fa's back there along with injuries and inconsistancies. if all goes well, these draft picks can help solidify the back end and provide special teams players as well. but i love dareus, williams seems like a good pick as does sheppard.the rest are 4th-7th rounders. let them show us what they have before we hit the panick button.
  13. special teamer who can hit sounds good. if he works out to be quality depth at ilb, that's even better. anyone complaining that they don't like him because he's not projected as a top 15 talent...come on...6th round here.
  14. i will definately sign up for mallett in the 3rd. low risk with a rocket launcher for an arm and a chip on his shoulder. let him sit for a year and draft o line next year...sounds good. and if he busts, at least it wasn't a 1st or 2nd round pick. go for it!
  15. maybe teams are trying to get ne's pick in anticipation of the Bills picking a qb. because according to the national media and all the experts...we really need one.
  16. for me, the dareus pick would be all about versatility. this is, by all acounts, a guy who could play any position on a 34 front and either tackle in a 43. this is a big guy that moves extremely well for his size and plays with power and leverage. to be able to get a guy this big and skilled to move all over multiple formations...i'd sign up for that. and furthermore, if we get this beast at #3, then bring on the best lb on the board @34 and our defense just got a huge infusion of hope/hype.
  17. the thing i like about this guy is that he seems to be a lot like ryan fitzpatrick. and i love ryan fitzpatrick. if we draft a QB at #3, i want this guy. that makes almost no sense at all to me, but that's the way i'm looking at it.
  18. i like everything i have heard about this kid and would really like him at 34. i like him there a lot better than anyone else at #3 and i would love the situation he would be coming into. there seems to be much less pressure on him as a second round pick than someone at the #3 overall. and i think maybe it would be a better overall situation for ryan fitzpatrick as well as the team as a whole. if we draft a QB in the first round, how much time do we have before fans and media start demanding we get the kid in there? also, along with many on this board, i like the combination of CK's physical abilities, attitute, and Chan Gailey's coaching style.
  19. i remember hearing about how dominant this guy was and the nasty disposition and mean streak that he posesses. he was surely the no. 1 overall pick. a game changer, impact player and the guy that dominated the national championship game. this was the "i'd love to have him but there is no way we can get him" guy. so my question goes out to those of you that watch a lot more college ball than i do, and that is why is this guy not in the discussion for no. 3? was he overhyped or did we talk ourselves out of it because we didn't think he would be available? just curious, thanks.
  20. based on that article, i could get excited about this guy being our pick. however...i think i've said that about quite a few guys this year. hopefully that's a good thing.
  21. in my opinion what we need on this team is not as simple as "we need this guy or that guy". what we need at #3 is exactly what buddy nix said, someone who will make an impact. we need a player that the opposition will have to account for on every snap. whether it's offense or defense, line or backfield or somewhere in between, we need a guy that is driven, self-motivated, explosive, exciting and most important just downright effective. who this mystery man is i have no idea...i can talk myself into anyone. but i just have to billieve in the staff to get this one right. so the question is...who can provide the biggest impact for this team at #3?
  22. i've been reading as much as possible about all these draft eligable players and without knowing a hell of a lot about them, i am thinking that quinn in the first and phil taylor in the second could be a real nice top of the draft for us. both guys are really big, strong, and athletic. but both have charater issues/question marks. i was just wondering if anyone could fill me in a bit more on these two.
  23. time for them to play with reckless abandon, a huge sense of desperation, nothing to lose, leave it all on the field...all that good stuff. seriously, for mccargo this is the equivalent of a last chance to the 5th power, and for maybin, give us a sign that there is a fire burning. wish them both the best and hope that the team's overall energy is high for 60 minutes today. let's go bills!
  24. this is quite intriguing, i like the premise of a big te/extra lineman for blocking purposes. let's open some holes, boys!
  25. does anyone know who the inactives for today are?
