  1. i think what we are looking for here is an upgrade. a big one. no matter what position we draft we need to get a signifigant upgrade over the player we have penciled in right now. and if the difference between the starting tackle and the kid available at number ten is a lot more than the whoever we have at linebacker, d end or corner at the time, that's what you do.
  2. i have no idea who the better prospect is, i just know i want the meaner guy on my team. the guy that loves contact and wants to destroy and demoralize the opposition. a guy that can open nice running lanes for freddy and cj. so whichever of the two better fit that mold, that's the guy i'd take.
  3. i don't care who you are that's funny right there!
  4. it may be absolutely impossible not to love this guy. every time i hear him speak he seems very genuine, honest, and humble. it also seems as though he has embraced the city of buffalo as his home and his teammates as his brothers. THIS is the kind of player we need to keep here, build around, and get more of. love this kid!
  5. i am optimistic that it will be more effective than that. if we can get a strong presence at de and one at olb either through the draft or free agency, we should be in better shape. i'm also banking on the dareus/williams combo being a force. and hoping that the players truly buy into and understand the defensive philosophy.
  6. i was just wondering if by now having 3 linebackers rather than 4. asuming shep takes the next step and barnett hasn't lost one, are we now in much better shape in the linebacking corps than we were a few weeks ago? i loved nick barnett's game last year and i liked sheppard's attitude and enthusiasm. seems like we can be doing alright going forward with this group with the right 3rd. (this is also assuming our d-line will be playing better as a unit with the new scheme and a strong de addition) thoughts?
  7. i am very happy with this, i loved metzalaars when he played for us. hopefully it will work well.
  8. i would not be upset with courtney upshaw in a bills uniform. by most accounts he should be good to very good, with a shot at being great...i'll take that.
  9. i don't really want to hear a wr called at number 10, i was just hoping someone could talk me into a guy if the bills decide to throw a curve ball, and i know there are a couple big boys in this group.
  10. the reason i ask this question is that while i love my qb, i know he has a tendancy to throw up a clunker or two. i don't watch a lot of college football and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on people like jeffrey or floydd as posible #10 overall guys. as we've seen this past season, a talented, tall wide reciever with long arms and good hands can give a lot of leway on bad balls, as well as completely negate excellent coverage. but is there a guy that is worth the 10 spot? thanks for any input.
  11. absolutely, but the point of my post was pretty much if all things are equal, and we could get bpa at 3 positions in the first 3 rounds, which positions would you want to see filled? or which would you feel would have the most potential impact. i would have loved to see j.p. losman coached up. i appreciated that he really wanted to be a part of the community as well as the quarterback, that kind of stuff goes a long way with me. plus, he had a cannon for an arm and a really good relationship with evens, i remember thinking they could be our modern era kelly/reed.
  12. no one component wins anything. what a dominant defense can do is make up for some deficiencies in special teams or offense. there is a very high value to be placed on a stout defense that stops the run, pressures the passer and creates turnovers. but if you have a great defense combined with an offense that cannot generate first downs or score points, then it is completely irrelevant. i believe that some sort of balance must be achieved to win a championship. either that or an enormous horshoe and incriminating photos of officials.
  13. this is right along the lines of what i was thinking with the exception that i would take best availeable ol in general and not limited to ot. the logic behind that being that i would love to put another player in there with wood and levitre and the best of the rest. i mean if bpa is a tackle, then great. but if i can get a guard to throw in there that's strong as an ox and really mean, i'll take that.
  14. if all things are equal when we are selecting players in the upcoming draft, which 3 positions would you like to see adressed and why? you can give specific player names if you want or just go with a generalized hypothetical. in oreder or no specific order. hope this turns out to be fun and pass a little time between now and then. i'd like something close to... 1. most destructive available de to complement the peices we have on the d-line. 2. most explosive and intelligent available olb. 3. nastiest ol available with an addiction to contact.
  15. i don't know, seems like this kid has a good blend of talent, desire and work ethic. if he's got a good head on his shoulders, seems like we could do a lot worse.
  16. sadly no. i kept on seeing the christmas carollers at the chinese restaurant from a christmas story.
  17. this is pretty much where i am right now. i was just curious as to the general thought of putting a stud ot on the line to go with wood, levitre, and the best of the rest of our guys.
  18. isn't that kinda like what jerry sullivan does here? he's always trying to hold someone accountable and trying to get answers to some pretty rough questions. i know a lot of people here really dislike him, and i do not agree with most of what he says, but i am usually interested in his point of view.
  19. my answer to that question is all about if. if ot is the pick i would hope that the guy is a monster of a human being that can pass block effectively but absolutely drive defenders into the ground. this would be great for freddy seeing how he can take a mile if given an inch, and also help the improving cj spiller to finally "turn that corner" and go vertical with a full head of steam. i would in theory prefer a dominant pass rusher, but i could be talked into this hypothetical ot selection. any thoughts?
  20. a new contract would be a beautiful thing, i really want to find a compliment for stevie, not a replacement.
  21. i'm thinking this could be a beautiful thing. putting the big bodies in the middle to try to clog running lanes and collapse the pocket up the middle. and i think kelsay is just fine manning one of the de spots, but also grabbing a true threat to go on the other side would be imperitive. my dream right now would be to get the best availabe de and olb somewhere in 2 of the 1st 3 rounds with a big nasty ol mixed in there somewhere. i know, it lacks imagination, but that's the way i'm looking at it.
  22. i haven't really seen much of any of these guys, it's just that time of year for me when i start to read up as much as posible on all these guys and start my man crushing on about 20 people i think would look good in the red, white and blue. and right now what i am reading about coples is that he could be great, but...
  23. coples biggest problem is going to be himself. he has, by all accounts, all of the tools covetted in a de. he's big, nasty, strong, athletic. but he has work ethic/character concerns. if this guy was 100% motivated and comitted, then this would be the no-brainer number 1 pass rusher in the draft. seems to me that carl malone was unbelievably gifted and worked as hard as anyone in the game, if coples has that light go on...sweet merciful crap!
