  1. When did we change from 'Thank you VERY much'

I've noticed its the standard way to say it now....it annoys me!

I'm with you. This does bug me. The even shorter, "Thanks so much," gets on my nerves even more. "Thanks much," makes me want to spit nails.

How about, "yup," or "mm hmm," as a response to a thank you, rather than, "you're welcome."

That bugs me even more than "thank you so much."

I've recently caught myself saying, "you bet," to certain people in response to their thank yous; oddly enough, I find myself saying it to the younger crowd.

I don't know how I feel about that.

  2. This needs to STOP.

Fred Jackson is not one of the top 10 RB's in the league.

I love Fred as much as anyone. I love his sportsmanship, his dedication, his work ethic. I love that he loves Buffalo. I get that. Everyone loves him. And that sways our opinion of him. He is a GOOD RB. Spiller is a GREAT RB.

Spiller last season averaged more per carry than Fred EVER did in his entire career. Spiller had more receiving yards than Fred EVER had in his entire career. Spiller had more TD's last season than Fred ever had in his career.

I love Fred. We all do. But he is not top 10 and he is no where near as good as Spiller.

While I AGREE that Fred is NOT a top 10 RB, I don't think it SUPPORTS your argument to use Spiller's stats from LAST year.

  3. You are what your record says you are. - Bill Parcells, Former NFL Coach, Superbowl Winner and Hall of Famer

#1- Wins & Losses - Nix did NOT improve the Bills in the most important category.

#2- Roster - improved slightly, but so did most of the other 31 NFL teams, some much more than the Bills.

#3- Entertainment - defense was totally dull and predictable. offense had very little long ball threat.

#4- Draft - very average. i'm not particularly impressed considering how high we picked. not much success in 2nd round.

as far as 2013, my reasons for optimism are #1- an ATTACKING style defense and #2- a QB (EJ) who can throw a nice deep ball.

unfortunately, our schedule is so much harder, i'm predicting a 5-11 record. but they will be much more fun to watch.

    I respectfully disagree. My explanation:

#1- Wins & Losses - Nix did NOT improve the Bills in the most important category.

Nix's failure here was hiring Gailey, so I'll agree with this one.

#2- Roster - improved slightly, but so did most of the other 31 NFL teams, some much more than the Bills.

I think it's premature to label Nix's roster-building a failure. Primarily because the coaching was so terrible.

#3- Entertainment - defense was totally dull and predictable. offense had very little long ball threat.

Again - this goes back to the Gailey hire, and subsequently, the Wannestadt hire. The offense, last year, was the most exciting I've seen it since the Kelly era.

#4- Draft - very average. i'm not particularly impressed considering how high we picked. not much success in 2nd round.

Way too early to judge Nix's drafts, but I don't see where he whiffed much/if at all. Beating the same drum ... it's hard to evaluate the talent when the coaching was so putrid.

  4. All this Tuel talk is ridiculous. Before the scrimmage there were posts speculating that he wouldn't even make the team because he looked pretty bad in practice. A few nice bombs and now people expect him to challenge for the 2nd and even 1st string jobs.

They're bold predictions, man!! We're not supposed to predicting that it'll be cold outside for the 2nd game against Miami.

  5. So bc they didn't win the Super Bowl it means that wasn't a good signing and it bit them in the a$$?

My problem with the Levitre signing is we didn't hear anything in previous years about Bills even trying to extend him when it was onvious he was their best lineman. Of course Levitre could hv wanted to hit free agency but to not hear a word about even trying to extend him the year before is what bothers me

They also should hv been more aggressive in finding a replacement

The biggest thing to come out of the Levitre departure, to me, is the flaw in the franchise tag system where an OL = an OL. Guards shouldn't get Tackle money.

  6. My predictions:

    • Tuel secures backup. - Same reasons as Boyst.
    • Kolb is cut. - Same reasons as Boyst.
    • Spiller finishes season in top 5 rushing yards; top 5 all-purpose yards. - He will get more carries; he will be a good check-down target for our rookie QB.
    • Bills win the AFC East. - Brady is getting older. Pats have steadily been declining; no reason to think it won't continue. Welker is gone; Hernandez is gone; Gronk is damaged goods. Miami misspent a lot of money and still have no answer at QB. Tannehill is simply not that good (Moore is better). The Jets are an absolute mess with a lame duck coach; not to mention, we raided their coaching staff.
    • Bills win one playoff game. - We'll get a home game and we will win it.
    • Marrone wins Coach of the Year. - After the decade-plus of futility, he leads this team to a division win and the playoffs in his first year as H.C. - - No brainer.

  7. Ah yes, the supposed "realistic" viewpoint we all know and love. I don't know of anyone walking around with blinders on -- I just see a large group of fans who are starved for a winner and want to feel good about what's happening, and a smaller (but more vocal) group who insist upon tamping down enthusiasm every chance they get.

I know how I want to live my life.

    Well said.

This is the worst I've ever seen the training camp trolling.

They'll get bored soon. They'll get bored sooner if people stop feeding them, though.

  8. This kind of post pumps me up. I agree that the blueprint is being followed, but realistically, part of the Ravens' success was luck ... just like the Kelly-era Bills. Having guys like those Boyst listed is no different than having the 90s Bills roster.

That said ... I think Buffalo is making the right moves. Run the ball and stop the run.

If these guys (namely, Spiller, Jackson, Dareus, Williams, Williams) can be as good as advertised, it's a great start.

The best moves, in my opinion, have been the coaching hires - although, the ST Coach hire still has me scratching my head, but I have faith.

I like the comparison to the Ravens. I think it's accurate and I think it's encouraging. We just need a little luck, like every successful team has.

    Go Bills!

  9. And thank you to everyone for the kind posts about the updates. Glad I could. Wasn't planning on it until I got there.

Much like Astro. Feeling very appreciated.

On another note, Stevie was no where to be found on the field. The coaches had him on the sidelines all practice. They probably realized he's just a good #2 ;-)

    HA!! Well-played!
