  1. Astro's TC Disappointments By Position

RB---Drew Smith: One good burst of acceleration on one swing pass. <Gaskins, Brown, FJ and CJ.

WR--Brad Smith: More drops than catches and the new guys deserve his spot. Pass.

TE---Mike Caussin: Three training camps, three injuries, strike three.

OL---Hutch Eckerson: Should have been cut 5 days ago. What? He was? Chiefs signed him, though.

DB--Mana Silva: Wrong time to make it known you're leaving, no matter what the reason.

LB--Brian Smith: I didn't write this ND LB down once, but at least you didn't bring an inflatable to camp.

DL--Izaan Cross: It was a tie between Cross and Tipoti for least mentions. Ehhhh, waive 'em both.

OP--Your spelling of the word "dis-appoint-ment". Prefix, root, ending.

Is a dissappointment when you blow off a meeting?

  2. No offense Astro, but you have to question the validity of a ranking system that puts guys like Golden Tate, Lance Moore, Malcolm Floyd, and Mike Williams ahead of Wes Welker, along with the obvious flaw of having anyone other than Megatron at #1.

I think Astro's point about 3 TCs/3 injuries is more a valid reason for criticism than the list ... however ... Welker has been able to make a career out of catching ridiculously accurate passes, then diving to the ground before taking any hits. I think his placement is correct.

That said .. Stevie was able to get back to back 1K yard seasons catching passes thrown from Ryan Fitzpatrick ... so he should be closer to the middle of that list than the end, IMO.

  3. I was unhappy when we signed Kolb, but then warmed up to it, not knowing how the draft would go.

Once we drafted Manuel, I've been in the "cut Kolb" camp - but only for the purpose of removing any kind of potential for locker room division.

I think, if he could handle the position (being a backup) in a professional manner (the exact opposite way Flutie handled it), Kolb would be a very servicable backup ... if he can stay healthy.

His lack of durability is what troubles me the most. However, this team WILL need a veteran backup. If Kolb can do it without pulling a Flutie, I'd be glad to have him in that capacity.

I don't see how Kolb can be considered a preseason disappointment, though. Bleacher Report is only 2nd in sucktitude to Pat Moran.

If I had to name one preseason disappointment, I'd have to go with Brad Smith. I'm glad the young guys are doing well, but I think his veteran leadership, along with his readiness and durability, would be valuable assets as the season progresses.

Looks like he's on the bubble, though.

    Go Bills.

  4. Glad to see Jackson is performing well after being held hostage in Buffalo for a year. Got that good prison workout like Vick did. Same treatment basically. You can work out all you would like, but no playbooks and no practicing with 1st or 2nd team.

So Jackson was paid close to $2 million dollars for .. oh .. nothing. And you compare that to being in a federal prison.

  5. You don't and that is why most first year coaches don't do well . Injuries plus no depth at most positions .

I don't understand the correlation between a first year coach and player depth. Not trying to be difficult, but how are the two related? Where do the Bills have depth issues, and why is that due to Marrone being a new coach?

    Apparently he wrote a book

"How I saved Someones Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communications." The comments...oh my.

  7. This is why first responders are people who need to be thanked. I can't imagine what some must see and work through.

Was just talking, last night, to my wife about what it must be like to be a full-time fireman. The majority of our fire departments in surrounding areas are volunteer. However, there are some city fire departments.

Every time these people are called to duty, they are going to a place where someone has lost something - from a loved one, to personal possessions. That has got to be heavy. I would imagine it would wear on a person after a while. If they become desensitized, are they really? Or is everything suppressed?

Firemen, police, first responders ... all underpaid, if you ask me.

  8. Sacks in general are completely overrated. Here are the top 10 sacked QB's in the league last season:

Aaron Rodgers - Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Winner

    Philip Rivers - Pro Bowler

    Andy Dalton - Pro Bowler

    Andrew Luck - Pro Bowler

    Jay Cutler - Pro Bowler

    Cam Newton - Pro Bowler

    Tony Romo - Pro Bowler

    Sam Bradford - Pro Bowler

Joe Flacco - Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Winner

    Ryan Tannehil

    Enough said.

Unfortunately, throwing the ball quickly at the feet of receivers isn't an accomplishment.

Is anything more overrated than being named a Pro Bowler?

What is your point, anyway? The fact that they are the top 10 most-sacked QBs could mean a few things.

They hang on to the ball too long. - Newton

Their teams passes more than other teams. - Rodgers

Their O line is terrible. - Romo

They're not that good. - Bradford

What, exactly, are you trying to illustrate?

  9. No.

The pass protection, as well as the rushing yards/carry were consistently above average for the past two complete years.

Either Fitz is a master at sack avoidance AND Spiller is awesome AND Fred Jackson is awesome ... or ... the O-line has done a really good job at a) protecting the QB and b) making holes for our running game.

After 32 weeks of overall consistency, I'm going with the latter.
