Bills - Ravens agree on deal for Gaither?
Smiley Dear replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't the Eagles give us a first and sixth for our "greedy and lazy" pro bowl LT last year? If we get Peter's replacent for a 2nd, then we made out in the deal. Especially if we sign Gaither to a lesser contract than JP got. -
Will Buffalo move up to #2 and take Bradford?

Bills like Troy QB Levi Brown
Smiley Dear replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys are all wrong. Levi Brown is a CPA from Cleveland. We were Zebes at IU in the early 90's. He's no threat to anyone except maybe an egg roll. -
Wood is confident he'll be ready by TC

I heard him too, and he clearly said he is for the rule change for OT in the playoffs but not for the regular season.

Tribe is in the Cactus League for spring training now, so the remark still makes absolutely no sense. -

Why dosen't the NFL have a minor league?
Smiley Dear replied to Smiley Dear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm aware of those failed leagues. What I am proposing would be different in that each NFL team would have it's own farm team that had the same name and uniforms. That would give you an imediate fan base, something these other leagues lacked. I also envision the "NFLDL" taking alot of college underclassmen. Given the option I'm sure alot of kids at the football factories (the ones who aren't intrested in the free education) would turn pro after a year or 2. -
I think an NFL sponsored spring developmental league would be very successful. People love college football and it's a huge moneymaker, so the "inferior product" argument doesn't hold water. The NFLDL would essentially be staffed by practice squad players, UFAs, and kids who decide that they would rather make $50k-150k a year in the NFL minors than play for free in college. It may turn out to be a better way to groom kids for the NFL, especially for QBs. From a marketing standpoint, each NFL team could have a minor league team with the same uniforms and name and superfans could follow their team's stars of the future yearround. Some games could be played in other cities to expand the parent franchise's fan base. I really see no downside for the NFL. The SEC might be pissed though. What do you guys think? I mentioned this in another thread but I think it could be an intresting topic on it's own.

OFFICIAL SUPER BOWL THREAD

How in the world did the BILLS go to 4 strait SB and not win one. That old pain comes back every year when I watch the new champs celebrate....F'n Norewood!! -
The fan excitement in Buffalo was "palpable" when we traded for Bledsoe, and when we signed TO....Fan excitement doesn't win football games. It does however put butts in the seats, temporarily. Maybe Buddy went for the better football coach, because winning is a better way to stoke fan excitement.

Maybe he knows his dad won't consider the job if he's a candidate. By taking himself out of the running, Brian just opened the door for his pa. -
Now that Dallas won big yesterday, look who is suddenly the HOT prospect!!!
-
I had this idea a few dats ago and asked Tim G about it. Here is what he said. BTW I started a thread about Garrett as a possible Bills candidate a week ago and it got 2 replies. Dallas blows up Phila in the wildcard and now he's hot again. QUOTE (EYE OF HORUS @ Jan 5 2010, 05:09 PM) Tim, I'm as excited as anybody at the prospect of Bill Cower coaching the Bills, but if that doesn't happen and we start interviewing coordinators, I've heard Ron Rivera and Russ Grimm and Leslie Frazier mentioned. Why has Jason Garrett fallen off everyones radar? 2 years ago he was such a hot prospect that JJ gave home 3 mil a year to OC. After a down year in 2008, the Cowboys offense looks pretty impressive again this year. If we want an offensive minded coach, shouldn't he be high on our list or did I miss something? Thanks for your input. Garrett hasn't only been ignored by the media for the Bills opening, but for ALL openings. I think that's because he's so beholden to the Cowboys that he's entrenched. I'm not privy to what's in his contract, but considering his salary, I wouldn't be surprised if he gave away some of his freedom to look around for head coaching jobs

We'd be 7-9 again, and Dickie would have been fired yeserday with the rest of the coaching staff. We got rid of DJ no need to "what if". It was a fruitful season. -
