Which Failed QB Would Have Been Most Successful
PDaDdy replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember that like it was yesterday. Lost in the passage of time is that shoeless flopping white sock drive Rob Johnson led us on to take back the lead with seconds left on the clock. We were a music city you know what away from victory, moving on in the play offs and potentially giving the team the boost and confidence it needed to continue to develop. -
Which Failed QB Would Have Been Most Successful

Didn't Rob Johnson play under Wade Phillips when we were consistently in the top 3 in defense for a bout 2 or 3 years? Rob Johnson had a good team around him with the exception of the o-line to an extent. This is that yin an thing again. Our line was mediocre at the time but Johnson made it worse holding on to the ball too long. If Johnson had a quick release and made even quicker decisions that line would of course have been higher ranked. -

I really have to disagree with you on this one. You could make a case for Rob Johnson who was the only thing close to JP in terms of athleticism. I think if you actually look at the stats for starts and being the starter, as I always advised in the Losman vs Edwards debate, Losman had pretty decent stats. He put points on the board. What your arguments and ranking fail to take into consideration are the teams that each guy played on and the coaching staff at the time. I think that Losman and Edwards by far played on the worst "TEAMS" AND had the worst "COACHING". Yes I was a Losman supporter. You can't teach 4.5 speed and a cannon arm. You can teach a guy that is too amped up, god I hated that phrase, to take some zip off his short ball. This used to be a common complaint with Brett Farve who didn't have the most consistent or successful career start. He was actually a Falcon and was traded to Green Bay. Edwards has nothing other than height that elite QBs or even very successful QBs have. His accuracy stats were over rated in my opinion because he checks down. You can't teach arm strength or the balls to use it. The guy hasn't beaten a 3 - 4 defense in 2 years and some people are still riding his man parts. Can't figure that one out personally. Maybe time smooths out the peaks and valleys but Tod Collins and Alex Van Pelt were incredibly lack luster QBs in my opinion. They were backups who were given a shot to start after Kelly left. Nothing more. At least they had better talent around them. Hell, Edwards might have been a better prospect than either or both. -
My God, look at the wobble on the deep ball attempts...

I have seen this many times. What makes people think Edwards LOST his confidence? I don't think he has lost any confidence he just plain old isn't getting the job done. In fact I think Edwards is PLENTY confident. I just don't think he is a starting quality QB. For those hanging on I suppose some reason for Trent's lack of success has to be fabricated. -

Well you could look at Trent's rather large body of work the last 3 years. Take a look at some of his deep throws, if you can find any video of an actual attempt, and tell me what you think. -

LOL. Indeed. Perhaps we should include him in the mix for QB too. Can't do any worse. -

No doubt. I have brought this up in threads before. Edwards throws a terrible deep ball. Same old same old. And some wonder why many say that Trent can't/won't throw the deep ball. Certainly no surprise when you see those lame ducks that Trent chucks up there. -
Which Bills QB is most popular amongst fans right now?
PDaDdy replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If only we gave JP the same opportunity. LOL -
If you think a projected 4 TDs is crap on 240 carries what do you think about 2 TDs on 238 which is what Jackson actually got? If you had any integrity you would admit that is crap and is not acceptable either. Talk about the bust not being ready for Canton. *sheesh* Nobody is getting down on their knees for anybody..Lynch OR Jackson. My sample size is 3 seasons thank you very much. I have repeatedly included 2007 & 2008 when the roles were reversed. This is also why the goal line, "opportunity" argument doesn't hold water either. There have been the same roles for the last 3 years. The only difference is that in 2009 they switched spots. Try reading the posts some time. I have readily offered that Jackson is the better WR of the two. No argument there. By the way. When did Thomas Jones play for the Bills? I don't recall. Different guy, different team, etc. Not really a valid comparison no?

If there are no scorers in football who takes that ball into the end zone??? Oh...that's right...the scorer. And.....DEEEEEERRRRRRR! Did you really take a look at the statement you made? In bold. His TDs came when he was the STARTER behind equally as crappy offensive lines. How did Jackson do when he was the STARTER? Keep it real man. You know the starter is the guy that gets the carries to get going. We have seen what each has done when they have had the opportunity to be "the man". Keep hating though..don't let the facts and stats get in the way. I like them both ON THE FIELD. If only you had the objectivity to admit the same.

As I told the Bug: Lynch 120 carries 2 TDs Jackson 238 carries 2 TDs (All in a blow out win against Miami) Uh....you already know the rest about 2007 & 2008

Lynch 120 carries 2 TDs Jackson 238 carries 2 TDs (All in a blow out win against Miami) Uh....you already know the rest about 2007 & 2008 That's how Jackson is not the better scorer

Tell me again how the guy that scored more points is not the better scorer? DEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR! I have no idea what you are talking about with your basketball reference but Lynch is the better guy. Jackson is the better receiver. You also have to understand where the line comes into play. Given our terrible line play that last 3 years there aren't a lot of holes to run through if you haven't noticed while watching every game for 30 years. Fred at 29 IS a better cut back runner and better man in my opinion compared to Lynch at 25. On the occasion when there is good blocking Lynch's talent shines above Fred's in my opinion. Lynch has missed some holes. So has Fred. It is conjecture as to who has missed more. I would give the favorable nod to Jackson though. He is a cut back runner after all. Lynch is the work horse, will not be denied, RB. As stated Fred is a better WR hence my statement of Lynch being the better pure RB and more importantly scorer. So I guess what I am hearing from you is that if the 24 year old Lynch learns to hit the holes better not only will he score more TDs but he will score WAY WAY WAY more TDs than Fred. That is great hope for the future! Here's to Lynch developing the experience and off field maturity of the 29 year old Jackson!!!

Obviously you didn't learn anything about on field play in 30 years. Stop hating. To call a guy with his production a POS makes it SO obvious that dislike him for what he has done off the field.
-
Ah yes. That only counts for people you hate though. LOL. I know it's human nature but some people really don't understand that their personal opinions cloud their factual judgment. I agree though if you want to hold it against one, you have to hold it against all.

I agree with most everything you said INCLUDING your praise of Jackson. Where we differ again is the obvious value of TDs. If we went out and played the game for points for yards/carry, receptions etc then you have a case. Unfortunately in the real world TDs count. On the Hightower flawed comparison. If Hightower put up those numbers for the Bills and WASN'T a goal line vulture I would say yes. Since neither of those criteria have been met to make the comparison at all relevant I can't say quantitatively whether he is or isn't. Beannie Wells does have some promise for the Cardinals. I would have to say though that if Hightower was healthy and more importantly stopped fumbling he would still be the starter to this day. News flash jack ass Wood is an o-lineman. He blocks for the guys that run for TDs. Glad I could clear that up for you. Because individuals score points. Teams win games. Get it now? As already stated if you watched the games Buffalo did not have a work horse/goal line RB situation. Both had opportunities all over the field. Jackson does many things well. Lynch scores more TDs. End of story. My defense of Lynch is based on how many times he scores not how many opportunities. Jackson was the starter. He had more opportunities!!!!! How would you like the stats normalized? TDs per carry? TDs per game? TDs per what? Get back to me when you get those numbers and you will see Lynch is the better scorer. There were no "and goal" stats that I saw. Jackson had plenty of opportunities. Hell...let's entertain your absurd idea. If Jackson is the better back... why take out your best back with "goal to go"? Sounds kind of dumb doesn't it? Good point. I do get frustrated when people argue against the obvious truth. You and your camp should do us all a favor and accept the following: Lynch is the better pure runner and scorer Jackson gets better yards/carry and is a better WR Jackson is the better man OFF the field As soon as people admit the obvious there is no need for discussion at all and I don't have to call people on their BS. There appear to be two camps. Lynch haters who ignore the stats and actually attempt to down play points scored. IDIOTS. Sorry, there is that frustration again. And the other camp that likes all of our RBs and sees that they all have strengths and weaknesses and that they are ALL very valuable assets to the team. That being said if Lynch screws up one more time off the field, "3 strikes" and I am pretty much done with him as a Bill.

LOL. Hurray TD for ME!!! I am NOT the guy that plays the grammar or spelling police but I thought it was funny.

Is that what "The" do? Thanks for your contribution. lol.

The lines were different no doubt. Thrown out the window., uh..hell no. Both were not good although we did have a probowler in Peters for 2007 and 2008. I believe Peters WAS that good though many thought he was a waste of money. If you think Peters was lazy and a waste of money then the 2007 & 2008 line was even worse than the 2009 line. If you think, as I do, that Peters was and is a probowler the line was "slightly" better. Huge difference? No. Any difference imo is offset by the facts below. In 2009 Jackson had TO and Evans at WR so no more 9 in the box. Lynch never played behind the starting O-line for week 1 as he was suspended the first 3 games. By the time Lynch got to play it was a bunch of misfits. To me ....that makes it even and we can focus again on relative performance between Lynch and Jackson. Again, I can say they are both great but I know who I want to have the ball when we need points on the board
-
Absolutely Biscuit! We have a stable full or running backs and if we are lucky we will get a lot of mileage out of ALL of them. At some point Jackson or Lynch may end up going if the trade value is there but they are all Bills right now and their individual success contributes to the teams success. It's never a good idea to give away good players for less than they are worth as some people let Lynch's off field mishaps blind them to his on field performance. I wish them ALL well.

Absolutely 100% correct. A voice of reason who doesn't have his eyes closed when it comes to the RBs performance on field. I LOVE all 3. Haters need to get over it.
