The reason is obvious. He wants to see what the 3 guys he has can do with better coaching and a better scheme. It's their choice obviously. I would just like to see another competitive horse in the race because the we know what Fitz and Trent can do. The only hope I have is that Brohm looks like the 2nd round candidate he was not the guy that went to 3rd string in GB and was put on the practice squad. Hey ...at least Troy Smith wasn't on the practice squad. lol
-
Lol. I will bet you any amount of money at any odds he can't. Thanks for your valuable input. I guess we shouldn't draft a QB or get a free agent QB next year either if all 3 fail. There is no guarantee they will be any better. Is that really the stance you are taking? Don't do ANYTHING because there are no guarantees in life? How is life in your mothers basement?

ANNNNNNHHHHH. Try again. The link doesn't work.
-
That is news to me. Can you provide a link to those comments? Nice try...thanks for your input.
-
Assuming that you know that this change would not be for the better without giving it a try is dumb AND arrogant.
-
FIXED! LOL
-
Don't remember stating he was a savior. Just that he could easily end up being better than what we have.
-
Eh the haters will hate I guess. As already stated it is 99% unlikely that Troy Smith will end up in Buffalo I know. The point is Ed Reed believes that he is more than a back up and is capable of leading a team to a champion ship. So to sum up. Ed Reed, probowl professional football player who has seen Troy Smith every day for all team activities for the past 3+ years says that he is capable. Buffalo Bills forum members, he sucks he will never be anything and isn't as good as what we have. Some may call me arrogant but you chose who's opinion you would listen to. Like Leonidas likes to point out about considering the source. Are you going to listen to some nameless, faceless schmuck with his hat on backwards typing away on an internet forum or a professional football player of the highest caliber has worked side by side with and seen the Troy Smith's game from the Safety position for 3+ years? You decide. *sheesh*
-
Cynical, you may not have read the whole article. His teammates have said EXACTLY that he is more than a backup. "Speaking on 105.7 The Fan, Reed said that Troy Smith would be more than equipped to lead the team to a championship if asked. " Again read the article. To say a guy can win a championship goes WAY beyond thinking he is a backup. Wanting Bradford means nothing as their was no way he was falling to 9. What is news to me though is what veteran QB did we go after. I missed that news.
-
It does indeed and yes I include myself in that group. Arrogant I may be but honest I also am. That sounded like Yoda. LOL. So yes the reasons to revisit the Troy Smith thing which is 99% unlikely to happen is that since Bulger has been signed it is actually a possibility that the Ravens could let him go. Ed Reed a tough as nails veteran who has been around Smith for 3 years feels that Troy is more than a back up and was actually bold enough to say that he could lead a team to a championship. I don't know if I agree with that but it is certainly high praise from a guy that knows Smith and football a HELL of a lot better than we do. I guess many on here are arrogant enough to disagree with him from their desk at work. You may think my opinion is meaningless, which it pretty much is, but this guys carries some weight with me.
-
Why would a team show interest in a QB that wasn't available when their are other options that are? I'm not saying that Troy Smith is Steve Young sitting behind Joe Montana hear. LOL. And yes I did mistype the original post which you pounced on immediately, soo..."You're back...Super". I have corrected it for clarity. Troy Smith wasn't a real possibility until the Ravens recently signed Marc Bulger. Ah...that sounds like the admission of defeat without admitting defeat. If I don't agree with your point I don't understand basic logic right? I borrowed that one from your personal arsenal. I tell people they get it if they agree with me. Right? That's how you basically introduced yourself to this thread right? After unsuccessfully trying to put words in my mouth or imply something other than what I actually said and unsuccessfully pulling it off you resort to the usual personal insults which I am obviously not above either. I have never claimed to not be arrogant on here which isn't a lovable trait. I have only claimed to be correct. Hopefully you won't need counseling or lose sleep due to my arrogance. Arrogant or not ...you have said nothing what so ever to prove me wrong.
-
You do realize that these are two way conversations with the "dozen times to what someone else says"???? Apaprently you don't have much of a life as you aren't even a valuable participant you just watch what others type. LOL. Unlike you I don't judge though. People can spend their free time as they like. America and all you know? Good arguments. You are correct though. I am grasping at straws which is better than the **** we have currently. That is kind of my point. We could bring in competition and quite possibly upgrade the QB position with very little effort. A team committed to winning often tries to upgrade whenever possible.
-
I put no holes in anything. It was you and Bills freak who are lacking in reading comprehension and TRIED TO READ TO MUCH INTO IT. Please don't try to twist what I clearly stated so that you have something to rail against. Nice try again buddy but your wrong. People that passed the 8th grade know what I wrote and don't make assumptions to give them something to argue against.
-
Please don't lump me in. There is NO guarantee that Troy Smith would be our starter but he could potentially VERY easily beat out Trent Edwards who is potentially our starter.
-
Perhaps again I wasn't clear. Teams in need of a QB as of July 21st? That is the question I posed relevant to what WE can do now. Troy Smith wasn't a "real" possibility as a trade candidate until Marc Bulger was just signed a couple weeks ago. I discussed looking at him a few weeks ago but Baltimore wasn't in the position at that time to really trade him. Bulger makes considerably more possible now if not likely. Who knows if the rumors are true and Trent doesn't win the starting job and is released we may acquire Troy Smith now that Baltimore has another viable option for a backup.
-
Sure I do. Why would he pose an IF/THEN regarding something that in know way relates to what I was saying. In no way did I express or insinuate that OTAs, film study, years in the league, acclimation to the size and speed of the game were all that was necessary to be an "all pro". I can play this game too. "Why am I even explaining this?"
-
As stated before. What other team has a QB need like the Bills. I can't think of one. Every other team that comes to mind is considerably better off than the Bills and it is certainly more realistic that they can work with what they have. You could be right though. What team is in as dire a need as the Bills? I'm certainly open to suggestion.
-
OK clown boy this is what bills freak said: "None of that relates to NFL experience and success. If just being in NFL Camps and OTAs was all you needed, Gibran Hamden would be an All Pro by your standards." Doesn't it seem like he is insinuating the logic conclusion to my statement is that OTAs makes you an all pro? It is you who should really stop embarrassing yourself. P.S. I have provide a link to the definition of insinuate in case your brain is still in neutral. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/insinuate
-
Again lazy people that pay more attention to the source of the information than the information itself. Use your brain. See the validity of my statement. A good idea is a good idea whether it comes from a janitor or the CEO of the company. FORTUNATELY I am not interviewing with you so your opinion of my name amounts to absolute jack squat! Keep that brain on cruise control buddy. Why waste time thinking when you can just dismiss things so easily based on capitalization? Like I told the other poster. Engage that brain. Pull it out of neutral. There was no guarantee of success for this experience either expressed or implied. BUT...he does have it. It is valid and it is miles and miles beyond NOT HAVING IT! Another way to look at it is he is not a rookie. Does that make it easier for you to get the concept? You know. They always talk about rookies getting used to the speed of the game. The size of the players. The complexity of the schemes, etc. Do you get it now what that experience means. Sorry I really am being a jerk but I thought that it was obvious what benefit this experience was. It;s my fault perhaps for not being clear about what that experience meant.
-
That is just dumb. Being in the NFL taking part in all those NFL activities doesn't give you NFL experience? Please just stop talking. On top of that you make ridiculous wild speculation that Hamden would be an all pro. Just give it up buddy. Experience is no guarantee. Just like your ability to type is no guarantee of intelligence.
-
Nobody said Troy would be a star. Let's clear that up. I only think he would be great to add to come in to compete and would quite possibly be the best QB on the roster. Let's be honest Trent hasn't had a serious competitor in the going on 4 years he has been here. Despite that fact HE STILL GOT BENCHED!!!
-
Nice shot in the dark but no dice buddy. I could care less about college ball. The only reason I know ANYTHING about it is NFL talent generally comes from the college ranks. I am admittedly NO expert about the college game nor do I have ANY team affiliation what so ever.
-
Sadly at this late stage of the game I don't know one to exist. That would have been a great question to ask me before the draft and all of the quality free agents dried up though I'm not sure what you are referring to with consistency. Campbell consistently threw more TDs. Campbell consistently stayed healthier. Campbell consistently threw with more velocity. Campbell consistently had more mobility. Campbell consistently showed willingness to play to win as opposed to playing it save and checking down to bolster useless completion stats. ETc...etc...etc. What other QB needy teams are there that are anywhere near as bad off as Buffalo. This is a solution for Buffalo not for other teams. The Raiders are the only other team I could think of and they did the smart thing and got Campbell. Also this speaks to the point I made to Leonidas. How long did Al Davis try to prove himself right giving Russell every opportunity to succeed and losing a head coach in the process? The owners are arrogant successful bastards. They think they are always right until it becomes incredibly painfully obvious that they are wrong.
-
Ah yes, rotating caps automatically invalidate my opinion. OR...you could use your brain and see the merit of my statement. Lazy small minded people focus on insignificant things like that instead of engaging their brains and actually thinking. Any-who...You are correct. Troy Smith was a 5th round pick so in theory WE WOULD HAVE TO GIVE UP EVEN LESS!!!! Thanks for strengthening my point If you have been living under a rock Troy Smith has been in the league going on his 4th year. NFL team. NFL training camp. NFL OTAs. NFL locker room. NFL film room and experience in the offense. NFL starts in preseason and regular season. So...ya...NFL experience. Start using that big brain of your Leonidas, look outside the box and see the big picture. P.S. Also you apparently have very little insight to the level of arrogance that people at this level posses. It would never be like any of us to never admit they are wrong To be so arrogant as to think that they are always right and it is just a matter of finding the right system and coach to prove that they were right all along and Edwards is a star. You keep thinking that buddy. LOL
-
Exactly! You get it. I'm not saying this guy is the next Steve Young but he would provide great competition and potentially show up the bums we currently have at the position. To be clear it is obvious I am not and have never swung from Trent's family jewels. The guy has had 3 years to show exactly what he can't do! I would love to see Troy and Brohm duke it out for the starting job. Unfortunately this would mean that Ralph and the front office would actually have to admit that Trent was a mistake. Instead they keep giving him opportunity after opportunity to fail.
