  1. The only place for Tebow in my opinion is Miami. Jacksonville already took their shot on Gabbert who many Bills fans wanted us to get over Newton at #3. Gabbert has shown poise and grace under fire in Jacksonville and is the obvious starter.. BwHAhahaAHhaHAhaahAH. If I am not mistaken Tebow doesn't have to go anywhere. I think he is under contract for a bit and will likely hold Manning's clip board. Tebow fans wouldn't know WHAT to do! Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning and barring some huge surprise and fall from grace he won't get the Kyle Orton treatment and lose his job to an inferior QB in the pocket.
  2. I have been one to bash Kelsay in the past before and I think he IS making too much money. That being said never replace a guy unless you have somebody better. Is Coples that guy? Who knows? He is a rookie that has never played in the NFL. I'm not down on him like everyone else, nor do I think he is garbage but he doesn't seem to be "elite" so to speak. If he was, he wouldn't be there at #10 for certain. Is he good enough and an upgrade? Quite possibly. If Merriman was a sure thing to return to some sort of form Kelsay could be expendable if we drafted Coples, Ingram or Mercilus. For better or worse Buddy always tries to do what he says he wants to and he doesn't like the DE talent at the top of the draft or what he thinks will be there at #10 when we pick. Regardless of what we want, Buddy likely won't take Coples if he is there at #10. All the smart money is on LT right now at #10 over all. If for some reason we don't go LT I would expect that we might go OLB. Courtney Upshaw was who everyone threw in my face when I brought up Coples but nobody is talking about him now because of his combine work out and looking very stiff. That being said don't be surprised if we make a little bit of a head scratcher and take a shot at an OLB like Upshaw or someone we think could fill that role. Upshaw might only be a 2 down player though. I don't know if Wansted will be asking his LBs to drop into coverage but it seems to be a weakness of Upshaw. If he is only on the field during running downs and gets removed during obvious passing situations when we run nickel and dime he might be more of a fit. Unfortunately this plays right into the hands of "hurry up" teams like the Pats that will keep you in bad personnel situations when they have the advantage. As for Stephen Hill, I would LOVE to take a shot on that guy in the 2nd round. Unfortunately his combine work out and pro day all of which he was said to have killed will make him a 1st round pick. Some team will get a guy that could be a really nice WR. Unfortunately it won't be us unless we move around in the draft somehow.
  3. In for a penny in for a pound. I was originally going to say that I wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets cut but then I started to think about it more. We have already used a bunch of money on him because various bonuses were based on being ON the team not PLAYING for the team. Compared to the money we have already invested/wasted $1 million is a significant number but shouldn't make the difference on whether we keep him or not. If we were going to cut him I think the time to do that would have been after he went on IR again last year. We may as well bet into it and spend the additional million to see if Shawn "Good Gamble" Merriman ever pays off.
  4. Other than a tweet I just saw today that is the first news I have heard at ALL about Merriman and his recovery from surgery. Thanks for the info. I still have a LOT of doubt but every fan hopes he does get healthy enough to contribute.
  5. We need more than depth at LT. We need a guy that can start, play on an island and stay healthy. For our needs I think he is a fit. He's a LB it's not like we won't ever send 5 pass rushers. His ability to cover is a bonus not what he would do full time. It just gives us options out of what would be our base defense is all I'm saying. We still have cap space even considering signing rookies and re-uping guys. We could cut at least $11 million in salaries with the guys we need to get rid of already. We've got 3-4 DEs and 3-4 LBs that will be out of place in the 4-3. I think we could easily make room and keep the promising young talent we are developing.
  6. Judging by his last 2 years of performance, I mean non performance, I would disagree.
  7. Nix says he likes our WRs despite trying to get Meachem. LT seems to make a lot of sense but let's not rule out OLB.
  8. Actually that is a good point! We DO play nickel a lot but perhaps we might not need to play as much with a healthy front line bolstered by Mario. Wimbley can drop back and cover well I have heard. That could allow us to stay in our base defense more, support the run which is our biggest problem on defense second only to our inability to rush the passer which he also does well.
  9. I don't know that anyone can put a "lid" on anything but he is a player. We are looking for good talent on this team. We need an OLB. If he can provide his "one move" as a pass rusher in the 4-3 and get us 5 sacks. I'll take it! I haven't followed the guys career what so ever and I'm playing a little fantasy football here but it seems like the guy would be a welcome addition. Partially because it would make my prediction come true that we get Mario Williams and Kamerion Wimbley. LOL. I started a thread regarding whether we had the cap space to get both. We got Mario! If we get Wimbley I'm 2 for 2. As for being a team cancer? I haven't heard that but if he is that makes him less attractive. Was it him or was it the team environment? I'm sure he will command some money but we generally don't over pay. Personally I don't think we over paid for Mario Williams but many national pundits think we did. We aren't known for over paying and if he is looking to get over paid it won't happen here that is for sure. What I AM thinking is that we have a little bit of a buzz literally and figuratively. We could sell the guy on what we are building here and maybe get him at fair market value. I think we have the cap space given the real numbers I have heard regarding Mario Williams' hit against this year's cap and we have at least $10 million bare minimum we could cut from this roster to get a difference maker. Dream big!
  10. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Don't just think of the sacks, pressures and run stops Mario will bring. Think of how it impacts KW and Dareus who also merit double teams. Think opposing QBs getting rid of the ball quickly instead of eating lunch back there waiting for a WR to get open because no secondary in the NFL can cover for 8 seconds. Be positive man. Ride the wave. Enjoy it!
  11. NEXT!!! Come on Buddy lets spend big and get this defense fixed and make it a STRENGTH....."Git er done!!!" I can't believe I just said that. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/16/raiders-tell-wimbley-hes-being-released/
  12. There is only 1 if and it is the same IF he has had the last 5 years. Health. If you don't have health it doesn't matter how much talent you have. We all hope he gets well but I think his body is just broken beyond repair.
  13. You're "The Doc" but I don't know that I buy that 100%. Even if true how did that work out for him ya know.
  14. Not sure who started the thread but there is easily around $15 Million per year that can be cut from this roster.
  15. If you mean he will quite his doubters by retiring you might be right. There would be nothing to discuss afterwards. If all he needed was a surgery or 2 why didn't he get them 4 years ago? Obviously we are all hoping against hope but I don't like the chances of him returning to form. 75% of his previous form is still better than Kelsay though I guess if he can at least play in most of the games.
  16. Everything must GO!!! We need Kamerion Wimbley!!!! LOL
  17. Same thing today. Skip Bayless and Mangenius said it was pretty much a PR move and that we over paid. What BS. Same old same old from the national media.
  18. Although I have wanted a true play on an island LT since Peters left I agree with building the defense. As hyped as I am about Mario he is one pass rusher. We need another like a killer outside LB. I still want us to somehow get Kamerion Wimbley. Do a sign and trade with the Raiders before they have to release him and give up a 3rd pick. In the draft though I think our pick will be a LT. We could always wait for Bell to realize he isn't worth much given his injury healthy and keep rotating him and Hairiston whichever is healthy on any given week.
  19. Exactly! There was huge contingent of forum members that wanted us to make him our pick. How would that have worked out? Without Dareus we might literally have had the worst defense EVER! If a a LT is there that is plug and play for 5 years I say we get him. Resigning Bell if he doesn't get any decent offers is an option too. We could potentially move down and get an extra pick in the 2nd from somebody like Cleveland that has 2 firsts. If that happens the Bills might roll the dice again and they could trade down and target Mercilus later in the first and or come up with the WR Floyd.
  20. YAAAAA....let's get a back up QB who might not be any better than what we have when you put him in OUR system with OUR WR core. Flynn was damn good for one game but had the entire Packers team and their AWESOME WR core around him!!!! Anyhow, Manningham could be had. The bucket is a little empty at WR but Manningham would be an upgrade no doubt. Unfortunately a bunch of WRs have already been locked up. The real answer at WR may already be on the roster if Easley can stay healthy. I know this is going to sound wacky but if all we need is speed Lee Evans would probably play for some loose change and pocket lint. That being said if we want to go big and build on this we should look into Kamerion Wimbley. The Raiders supposedly will have to get rid of him due to salary cap issues. Why not offer the Raiders one of our extra draft picks and have them do a sign and trade. Defense fixed!!!!!
  21. Sorry if it was already posted but different link http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/mario-williams-to-visit-the-buffalo-bills-on-tuesday-night/ HOT DAMN!!!! I LOVE that we are giving it a shot even if we don't get him. Way to go Buddy!
  22. Eh..people usually like to get a pay raise when they get a promotion like from RT to perennial probowler LT say. I can't blame the guy for wanting a pay raise. I would have done the same. But then again I have balls and expect to be paid what I am worth at my job. Some people are afraid of doing so and get stuck in positions like "acting" manager for 2 years while waiting for their employer to make it official and give them a salary commensurate with the position.
