In theory yes I agree with you. However the value needs to be there for the trade to work out. To trade down in the top 10 I would want the value to work out in my favor. In the original scenario the Eagles would come out at +35. Getting the numbers to equal out between these two teams would require maybe the eagles 5th rounder as an add on.

looking at the numbers the trade does not favor the Bills. 10 - 1300 71 - 235 15 - 1050 46 - 440 also I will go on record as saying I dont think reiff will be any good in the nfl. Seems every couple of years an iowa lineman is rated highly and they don't pan out.

That is why Easley was a 4th round pick though. There is no comparison between the 2. If Hill were to go in the 4th I don't think anyone would care about the number of catches and be more wowed with his measurables. I don't think Hill will go in the top 20 and would be surprised if anyone took a flyer on him in the 1st at all.

Skinny build and suspect arm strength yes but your links do not help your argument. Kellen Moore completed more passes in each of his years than Pat White attempted. Think about that for a second. Moore had 142 tds to 28 ints. White threw for 56 tds to 23 ints. As players I don't see it and that is what matters to me. One of the concerning things about this injury (and the same for Kyle WIlliams and Merriman) is that an Achilles injury is usually followed by hamstring injuries. I hope this isn't the case for these guys but it is worrisome to say the least.

I live out of the Buffalo market and "tools" is the only person who does extensive Bills coverage that I can hear. They just signed Finnegan this offseason though so there need at cb isn't as great here is a list of their wr's and it is scary bad. I think if they don't take Blackmon they look to trade down near us and draft an olineman so maybe they are a viable trading partner. Still though I say they take Blackmon if he is there. I also feel there is minimal chance for the Browns to take Tannehill at 4, if that is who they want they might trade down to 6 or 7 if not later.

I read that link in another thread (there are 2 of these running simultaneously mods) and found it interesting as well. My point however was more that all positions have a lower probability of success later in the draft not just qb. Also (as I will touch on lower) that there is no harm in taking a developmental qb later on as it works out or it doesn't same as with other positions. If it does maybe you hit the lotto and end up with Brady or maybe you get an asset that can be turned into a higher pick/contributing member of your team Yes! I made the same comment in the other thread. Ron Wolf used to do this every year. If they were good he had a competent backup for cheap before they became a trade able asset. Then he would do it all over again In theory I wouldn't be opposed to this however you would need a dance partner. As for the second part of your post I think we would all agree that this is case however past regimes picks don't necessarily apply as they weren't the type of players to fit the current coaches style.

I want Whitney Mercilus in a trade down. While our signings have certainly beefed up our line I would love to add this guy. I think some players that other teams will be interested in are Tannehill, Richardson, Coples, maybe even Decastro. Other teams draft boards may necessitate them jumping up in front of teams that are picking in front of them to get the player/position they want.

Yep I've actually come around to this as well. There isn't a position I would be mad that they drafted. I certainly have preferences but if an elite prospect is staring you in the face you almost have to take him regardless... And save the Decastro pleas. OGs are not top prospects imo

This. The idea of whether or not to take a qb late has more to do with other positions success rate in the nfl not the qb position alone. Is it less likely a qb from round 6 will be a hof yes but the same can be said for a multitude of positions if not every one. Oh yeah eff Tom Brady and the Pats for getting Lucky!

What in his game reminds you of White? White was a horrible passer and a runner first second and third. I see no comparison of the 2 at all. The McCoy comparison maybe but def not Pat White. As for Moore the prospect he does have a chance to be good/great in this league. I understand the knock on his height but not in his game. He is lethally accurate to the tune of 74%. He has a long history of production and through watching his games I keep seeing an NFL player. Then again I thought McCoy would be a star (he still may be good but has no weapons) and to this point I have been wrong about him. For the other argument that is going on... Late round qbs are brought in to be developed. You see something you like in a qb but some things you don't like. Bring them in try to work on them. If it's a success you get Matt Hasselback, Matt Cassell, Brad Johnson, Trent Green, Rich Gannon, and maybe just maybe a Tom Brady. If it's not it is another late round pick that didn't make the roster. I don't understand why it is acceptable to take other positions have it not work and cut the player, but if it is a qb it is a waste of a pick. Late round qbs SHOULD be taken with teams that have an entrenched starter that will give the pick time to develop. I remember the Ron Wolf (former packer gm) saying he would take one every year and hope to find a good one or at least one he could use as a trade able asset.
