Will Bills have a poor record in 2013 ?
first_and_ten replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills cut ties with Fitz unless he restructures his contract. -
This season may be a waste just like previous ones.

I don't see Marrone adding 3-5 wins based on his coaching alone. This team is lacking talent at linebacker, strong safety, quarterback , wide reciever, cornerback. So I don't really agree on your assesment of talent on this team compared with good teams. -
Pats not going to use tag on welker

Why isn't anyone questioning if Brady might start to decline? He will be 36 when the season starts. He didn't look great against Baltimore either. -
I think the Bills will draft defense. There isn't a qb in the draft worthy of the eight pick overall. Maybe they get Mingo. Or dare i say Milliner.
-
No. Maybe Mingo now..let's hope he stays out of trouble

Roger Goodell paid 29 mil by NFL

Actually he's being paid more than a star player -
Yes let's let a very good guard walk so that we can draft another guard with the eighth pick overall..that's progress!!

Fitz being on the roster totally depends on a renegotiation of his contract. No renegotiation, he gets cut. Period -
BREAKING NEWS: Bills release Terrence McGee

Cutting Mark Anderson doesn't save on the cap. Might as well keep him and see if he can rebound from the injury. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick is due a roster bonus in March. What do the Bills brass do? Do they cut him? Do they restructure his contract? Or do they pay it and go forward as is? My opinion is they will try to restructure his contract. This is the only way to really save on the cap. If he won't restructure, which would be foolish of him, then they cut him. Either way they will not pay that roster bonus.

Are we seriously going to let Levitre walk?
first_and_ten replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am pretty sure the franchise tag would be huge. I don't think they tag him. They don't differentiate between guards, centers and tackles when determining the tag figure for offensive linemen. So I'm thinking around 9.5 to 10 million to tag Levitre. That's too much. -
Who's number one? They are talking moving Stevie to the slot.

Vince Young's $300K Birthday Party

I understand your anger when so many people look at these athletes and wonder what it would be like to have all that money. I can actually understand how some of these "kids" end up broke. We can sit back and judge them because we're most likley older and can see the stupidity of their actions. But many of these young athletes are not prepared to have this amount of money thrown at them. When money like that comes fast and easy, the assumption is it will always be that way. They don't see the future. Many athletes associate wealth with material possessions, thus the purchasing of big ticket items, like cars, jewelry, etc.The obsession to have the best clothes, the biggest house, the best "toys" is a wealth killer. Also , many athletes who grew up poor and were helped by extended family. They then feel a sense of guilt and desire to help the family. That's not a bad thing, but what inevitably ends up happening is that free loading "family" expect the money train to never end. It's hard for the young athlete to turn off the gravy train. These young men need help and guidence before these huge contacts are signed. There is always some shark in the water ready to pounce and take advantage of people who have little experience with money, who suddenly come upon a jackpot. We have seen how many lottery winners end up. Does the NFL do enough to help these young men? Probably not. Yes, many will say these guys are adults and should be responsible for their own decisions but I see these guys as naive kids in many ways. It's easy to laugh and scoff at them , but they need some help. In a way, they are to be pitied. We can all say we would do it right if we came upon all that money, but can we be sure we would have been that wise when we were 21 years old? -
I think if the NFL polled the fans, Sat. Super Bowl would win hands down. The question is, why doesn't the NFL change it to Sat.? Could it be the Networks? Is it the Advertisers? An 8:00 pm kickoff on Sat. night would be great.

Chan liked Kaepernick what happened?
first_and_ten replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think they all feel that quarterback was the missing piece. They realize that quarterback is the most important piece. Get your franchise quarterback and then you start to build the rest of the team. -
I think it's difficult to compare those two eras. Would the 90 team beat the 64 team? Most likely yes, but if we look at how each team fares compared to the quality of their own time period, the 64 team might be better. Anyways, I think the two finalists would be the 90 team versus the 91 team. Winner, 91

Of course it screams of "we don't want him". He's really a very average reciever at best and has also been injury prone. If the Bills want to be better, they need to upgrade this position. This move shows that the Bills understand this and I fully expect them to be active in free agency to upgrade this position. There are some good ones in the free agent pool. Of course, I would hate to see the Bills improve at wide reciever while letting guys like Levitre and Byrd walk. It's not an easy task to keep your own while trying to improve. I hope Buddy and Co. are up to the task.

Is Ryan Fitzpatrick considered a veteran?
-
This will be the last year of his rookie contract, so he has plenty of incentive to play well this year. It would be just the Bills' luck if he plays well and leaves.

Not many thought there was a Russell Wilson in last years draft either. -

Yes, he is likable. He could be a good leader too. hard to believe he has never really worked out before. Overall, a guy you like on your team. Glad the Bills re-signed him -
Your 2013 draft strategy if you were the Bill’s GM?
first_and_ten replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I understand why this is said, what if the best player available is a running back or another position of strength? Would it really be wise to ahere to the "best player available strategy" in all cases? I don't think so. Positional need must always be a part of the process. I'm not suggesting that they reach for a positional need. That would be foolish. To build an all around solid team, areas of need must be addressed. If that means selecting a player who might be slightly lower on the draft board over a player in an area of team strength, I say do it.
