  1. The plan to build an NFL stadium in downtown LA is in trouble. But as far as I know, the plans for a stadium in the city of Industry, located about 20 minutes from LosAngeles is on track. All they need is a team to commit and construction begins. Once Ralph Wilson dies all bets are off. He has repeatedly said that upon his passing the team will be sold to the highest bidder. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the new owner will move the team. Shad Kahn bought the Jags even though he has no connection to the city of Jacksonville. And has no plans to move the franchise despite the problems they have filling that stadium. There are probably more Shad Khan’s out there. Wealthy business men who none of us ever heard of who are looking to buy an NFL team. And will do every thing he can to make it work in Buffalo.
  2. The Bleacher Report confirmed at 12:35 this afternoon that the Bills have signed Mario Williams. Both Bleacher and WBEN radio say that the Bills have called a 1:30 news conference to announce the signing.
  3. The Bills took a similar risk with Thurman Thomas. And it worked out pretty good. If memory serves, he suffered a serious knee injury his junior year at Oklahoma. Even though he returned with an excellent senior year, rushing for over 1600 yards with a 6.5 yard per carry average, he failed a number of team physicals prior to the 1988 draft. Which was why he was still on the board when the Bills turn came in the second round. Would have been nice if they had taken a similar risk on Gronk. But as others have pointed out, he may not have enjoyed the same success here as did with Brady in New England.
  4. You never know where your franchise quarterback is going to come from. It could be that first round pick every team in the league would sell their soul for. But it could also be a sixth round pick like Tom Brady. Or it could be that undrafted free agent like Tony Romo. You just never know.
  5. I believe the NBC Sunday night games are streamed live. And don’t subscribers to the NFL Sunday Ticket have the option of watching a live feed of games on their computers?
  6. As I’m sure everyone knows by now, it was reported on the NFL Network, that Cam Newton told Perter King Of SI, that “I see myself not only as a football player, but an entertainer and icon.” That brought back memories of Walt Patulski. A DE from Notre Dame. Who the Bills picked first overall in the 1972 draft. After he requested permission to skip part of his rookie training camp so he could attend that years Democrat National Convention in Miami Beach, red flags should hace gone up. It should have told everyone that his head really wasn’t in the game. Last year, in his first press conference as Bills GM, Buddy Nix, said that he didn’t like one year wonders. When he drafts a guy, he wants to see a whole body of work, Through high school and college. Hopefully, he’ll remember those words before he pulls the trigger on Cam Newton. Assuming he’s still available when the Bills pick at number 3.
  7. I don’t think there will ever be an NFL stadium built in downtown LA . Billionaire developer Ed Roski and his Majestic Reality are ready to start building a state of the art open air football stadium in the City of Industry. Which is about 20 miles from Los Angeles. All the legal and environmental hurdles have been cleared. Majestic owns the land. And no public money will be needed or used for construction. It’s a true shovel ready project. Construction will begin as soon as a team commits to LA.
  8. You'll just have to check the schedule for your local TV stations in the newspaper. Or online. However if you have the NFL Network, they will be showing the game live tomorrow night at 7:30 PM.
  9. Only time will tell if the Bills made the right decision in this years draft. However Chan Gailey said there wasn't any throw that Clausen or Tebow could make, that the qb's currently on the roaster couldn't. Hopefully, he's right. Besides, next years draft class is supposed to be much richer and deeper at qb than was this years. So if Edwards, Brohm, and Fritzpatrick bomb, there's a very good chance of the Bills getting their franchise qb next April. Let's not forget Levi Brown. My son, who follows the Bills and the NFL much closer than I do, said something that makes sense. The Bills drafted Brown as a project. There is no way they're going to cut him. Or place him on the ps. And risk him going elsewhere. He figures either Edwards, Brohm, or Friz will be sent packing. And Brown makes the team as the third qb. Granted, the odds of a 7th round pick becoming a franchise qb are astronomical. But you never know. Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round. Kurt Warner and Tony Romo were undrafted. So we can't rule him out. imho
  10. I too was wondering what happened to Paul McGuire. He just seemed to disappear. He was/is one of the best in the business. It's a shame he's stuck doing UFL games. The powers that be on the major networks are nuts for not finding a place for him. (Unless maybe it was his choice to leave the "bigs"). Anyway, I was once told that my favorite restaurant, the Fryers Table on Cleveland Dr. in Cheektowaga was originally called Sestek and McGuire's. Don't know if that's true, but I thought I'd mention it.
  11. I agree totally. If they had retained Farve, and he had the same kind of season he had in Minnesota last year, they would have gone to the Super Bowl. But what I never understood is why they released Thomas Jones. Granted, he didn’t have a great post season. But the guy still ran for over 1400 yards during the regular season. Averaging 4.2 yards a pop. Maybe Ryan knows something the rest of don’t.
  12. I don’t know. As of 11 AM there’s nothing on nfl.com about the schedule coming out. And the NFL Network has normal programing tomorrow. Usually they have a “Schedule Release Show” in mid afternoon. And hype it for a week or better.
  13. With Donovan McNabb now a Redskin, it certainly increases the likely hood that Clausen will still be on the board when the Bills pick at number 9. Now supposing one or more of the four OTs that are projected to be picked in the top 10 is also available, what would you do if you were in Buddy Nixes shoes? For example, if the choice was between Bulaga and Clausen, who would you pick?
  14. Why does Larry Felser need to mock Ed Roski, the gentlemen trying to bring pro-football back to Los Angeles by referring to him as "some rich guy" and "bozo"? As if there's such a thing as a poor NFL owner. Al Davis may think he holds the NFL rights to Los Angeles. And as Mr. Felser points out he's still undefeated in the courtroom. But the NFL wants a team in LA. Mostly because it's second largest TV market in the country. There is no way they're going to let Al Davis stand in the way. I don't think Davis has a leg to stand on. How can claim that a new team 400 miles south of Oakland is going to hurt him or the Raiders. It would be like the Bills trying to keep a team out of Cleveland after the old Browns moved to Baltimore. I've been following this story somewhat lately. If you're interested point your browser to: http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/ The people behind the effort to return football to LA, are 100% certain they'll have a team there in 2011. But I don't think us Bills fans have much to worry about. Not as long as Ralph Wilson is alive and in charge of things. After that, who knows.
  15. There has been endless speculation on the future of the Buffalo Bills once Ralph Wilson passes on. But I've heard little, if any discussion on the teams future in Buffalo after their current stadium lease expires following the 2012 season. If Ralph is still alive and in control of the team. Any thoughts?
  16. When the colts play here on January 3, hopefully Willy will have been signed to the Colts active roster. It would be nice if they allowed him a couple snaps at the Ralph.
  17. The reason Polian was fired, was because he has an abrasive personality. And Ralph Wilson didn't like being yelled at by his employees. He simply had enough of the guy. I believe Ralph wanted to let him go during training camp in the summer of '92. But Marv Levy talked him out of it. Told him it would be best for the team to wait until after the season. (At least that's how I remember it.) While I don't believe Polian will return to Buffalo, the Bills have to do two things. First, hire a real GM, a real football guy to run the front office. Along with one of the well known, successful, head coaches who are currently unemployed or working in broadcasting. Teams such as the Broncos, Ravens, and Steelers seem to have hit pay-dirt by hiring young assistants with no previous head coaching experience. But the Bills have been down that road twice with Mulkary and Williams. And we all know how that turned out. IMHO, no one but a Mike Shananhan or Bill Cowher is going to please the fan base.
  18. I'm sure the majority of Rams players don't care who owns the team. As long as they get paid. I'm equally sure that the majority of fans don't care. As long as the team stays in St. Louis. As the group Rush Limbaugh is part of has promised to do. If Rush, either by himself, or as part of a group could buy the Bills, and keep them here, I would welcome that. Even if some left wing nut case like George Soros or Michael Moore, or some racist pig Jew haters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson wanted to buy the team I wouldn't have a problem with that. As long as they kept the team in Buffalo. And did whatever it took to make this team successful.
  19. There sure is. Go to nfl.com At the bottom of their home page, under NFL Anytime, click on Game Rewind. For $49 a year, you can watch in it's entirety, any NFL game from the 2008 and 2009 seasons. With less expensive options available. However, me thinks you would enjoy the games more if you were to get a DVR from your cable or satellite provider. Record the games. Then watch them after your little ones are settled down for the night.
  20. You ask a very good question. In a situation like this, when the Bills game is sold out in time for local TV, but the network affiliate in Syracuse can't or won't carry the game, will Direct TV make the game available in the Syracuse area on a Sunday Ticket channel?
  21. No one is condoning what was done to the lawn of Leodis McKelvin. The two teens who admitted doing should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Additionally, the vandals should be made to reimburse McKelvin for whatever it costs to repair the damage. However, lets keep this in perspective. It's only a minor, non-violent crime. Committed by some jerks. Much less serious than Marshawn Lynch running down that woman with his car last year. Then driving away. What happened to Mckelvins front lawn, is much less serious than what happened to 18 year old Brian Milligan. Who was severely beaten by a gang of 10 black males at the corner of Genesee Street and Floss Avenue in Buffalo about a month ago. In what police describe as a racially motivated hate crime. Their motive: Brian Milligan was dating an African-American lady. So lets keep things in perspective. It seems the media and DA Frank Sedita are more concerned with this millionaires front lawn than they are the senseless beating of this poor teenager.
  22. Maybe the poor guy just had to go to the bathroom.
  23. The NFL Network airs a lot of what they call "Classic Games". Although most of them are were played less than 10 years ago. With this being the 50th anniversary of the founding of the AFL, does the NFL Network plan on airing any of the old AFL games? The "Heidi Bowl" and the Bills-Chargers championship games from '64 and '65 are a few the come to mind.
