  1. I would have loved to see the Bills get Hutchinson, but come on...$7 million per for a guard?? Insane. You have to look at it in terms of today's dollars and it was an irresponsible signing. Then these owners turn around and scream poverty. BTW, is Anthony Herrera the LG to which you were referring?
  2. Because it would leave another player on the board for the Bills. See, they won't be taking a QB at #8. Think outside of the box, junior.
  3. I talked to a good friend of mine today who is a lifetime 'Skins fan, a season ticket holder and attends all of their home games. I inquired about Royal and he confirmed what most of us have heard/read about the TE: his pass catching ability is iffy at best, his blocking ability is very good. My friend believes that, overall, we'll be pleased with Royal as long as we're not expecting the next Antonio Gates. Bottom line: very good blocker with decent upside and a definite upgrade for the O-line.
  4. Why would McGahee want or even need linemen? Afterall, he is the self-proclaimed "best" RB in the NFL.
  5. "Big-market teams like Washington, New England and Dallas have tapped into revenue streams - from sales of stadium naming rights, luxury boxes, local sponsorships and other areas - that do not have to be shared with the other clubs. The result is Washington took in $287 million in revenue in 2004, according to Forbes Magazine, while the bottom-earning team (Arizona) took in $153 million. The Bills ranked 22nd at $173 million, Forbes estimated. That local revenue drives up the costs to all teams because it increases the salary cap. When Washington sells a luxury box for $200,000, the cap for every team gets bumped up an incremental amount. " http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060...?tbd1027103.asp "Yeah, we'll compete," he said. "We have to watch our costs in all directions and run a very cost-effective operation. We will be active in free agency. And we'll try to make prudent decisions on players. But we're not going to be able to throw money away like these high revenue clubs. That hasn't changed." http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060...?tbd1027103.asp Maybe you should try educating yourself about RW's reasoning before spewing your inane rubbish. Maybe, assuming you're a Bills fan, you'd like this team to STAY in WNY. Maybe instead of being one those people who scream that we should get this guy or that guy, you'll understand why we can't thanks to the continued "who gives a crap about the lower revenue teams as long as we get ours mentality" of the high revenue pricks like Dan Snyder. But I doubt you will. Hey, why not sell the team and pocket a nice "400 million", right Ralph?? Afterall, maybe you can move the team to Vegas and this assclown will finally be happy.
  6. Maybe this thing will get done before the draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2355861
  7. Excellent post with some very salient points.
  8. In a classic senior moment, having forgotten that he cut him, Marv will ink..................Mike Williams.
  9. Yeah, but "ol' fuzzy birthmark face" just didn't have quite the same ring to it. I took a little creative liscence.
  10. This has quickly gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.
  11. Brees is no given for them. Considering the fact that no new CBA was reached, they're on the wrong end of the salary cap spectrum. They'll need to do some serious purging to bring in ol' mole face.
  12. Will Rick James be appearing ala Bernie ('Weekend at Bernie's') because he's one dead B word?!
  13. I seem to recall that there was a rule in place that says a team loses a pick, and is fined, for every day that it is over the cap. I don't know how it would work in this situation.
  14. Living in Foreskins country, I despise them, their smug fans, and that little douchebag, Dumb Snyder, second only to the dolfags. These jokers have been playing with fire for years. Cripple 'em good Tags!
  15. If she'll sleep with that dried-up old fart Michael Douglas, even you might have a shot. That's Jane Hathaway (aka Nancy Culp), not Anne...and she joined the "Piece Corpse"several years ago.
  16. I've thought about it from your perspective before and thought that I agreed. But as this moves further along, the more I tend to disagree with your position. While your scenario might help the Bills in the short term, it would definitely hurt them in the long run...especially next year. The Bills are better off with a quick resolution to this mess. The longer it goes, the more likely that the players and owners dig in their heels and a lockout or strike occurs. 2007 would look like a MLB year. The "Yankees" of the league would make out like bandits while teams like the Bills would suffer greatly. I say end this damn thing now!
  17. I agree. While I would not be disappointed if the Bills took Davis, I think he is a luxury that they can ill afford at #8. A pass catching TE is not a top priority. The O-and D-lines have been ignored in the early rounds for far too many years. Unless they make major stides in free agency in both areas (doubtful), they need to address one of the lines with their first pick.
  18. This is shaping up as a really bad soap opera. Title it "The Greedy and The Greedier".
  19. I could see him signing on the cheap with Houston, a team in desperate need of linemen and in his "comfort zone" of Texas.
  20. Count Buffalo among those in the "low revenue" category. They don't generate the money that Washington, Dallas, New England, et al do. Also, they haven't sold the naming rights to the stadium which would generate some money. Ralph has gone on record in the past as an advocate of more revenue sharing as long as teams use the money for football operations and don't just hoard it like a small market team in baseball might. The big boys in the NFL are going to have to contribute more to the league in order to keep teams like the Bills viable. If not, they will kill the goose that laid the golden egg and it will eventually be the demise and disappearance of small market teams like the Bills. Even if the smaller teams were to survive, they'd become like the noncompetitive smaller teams in MLB like KC and PIT...non factors and afterthoughts in the sport.
