  1. And this typifies the narrow minded thinking of many a Bills fan (and more disturbingly, coach) in my opinion. Because Maybin is a specialty player who only plays in certain (passing in this case) situations, this means he is worthless. The Bills could not figure out a way to use him, the Jets did. It is a good thing for the Bills (except when they play the Jets), the Jets, and Maybin that he is now on the Jets. It is 100% irrelevant how he defends the run.
  2. Never said not to sign Onobun or whine about it. He said he liked the move and I was wondering what about it he liked. Overreact much?
  3. In order for the Bolts to only get 17 either: 1) The Bills need to run the ball VERY effectively and eat all kinds of clock. or 2) The D gets all kinds of breaks like they did against the Pats in that very wonderful 4 INT by Marcia game with passes hitting players in the head and into DBs hands for pic-6. [i get teary eyed just thinking about it].
  4. Exactly. Spray and pray and hope to get lucky. Nothing to lose at this point.
  5. What's to like? Got drafted in 2010 and has been on 2 teams and 2 practice squads since. I think Buddy will sign anyone now thinking if he does it enough times, one may be worth a **** someday.
  6. True, but the two aren't as different as it may seem at first. Vegas sets the line thinking in order to get half the money bet on the Bills it will take an enticement of 7 points. Which means that Vegas feels half the bettors (assuming each bettor bets an equal amount of money for simplicity) believe that SD is about 7 points better. If they make the line higher too much money gets bet on the Bills. Lower and too much gets bet on the Bolts. So in effect, Vegas thinks that the betting public thinks that the bolts are the better team by 7 points.
  7. If the Bills run a lot, and successfully, the Bills have a decent chance. They have to keep the ball out of Rivers hands or the Bolts will put up an ungodly number of points on the Bills D. If the Bills pass a lot and have a lot of 3-and-outs it is going to get very ugly very early. It's going to have to be Spiller-time in my opinion if there is any chance of a Bills W.
  8. Manning isn't going anywhere. This is the plan in my opinion. 1) Tank this season and get Luck in the draft. 2) Luck plays behind Manning and gets groomed for a couple years. 3) Manning becomes OC and works with Luck. 4) The Colts are set at QB for another 10 years. It's a beautiful plan really. Only thing that would make it prettier was if it was the Bills doing it.
  9. Man if Nix is planning on developing depth through the draft to the level that this team needs depth this is going to the looooooooooongest rebuild in history.
  10. Agreed. The Bills would have not put him on the field much, and when they did it would have been at LB. He would have had no positive impact on the Bills. He needed to be used as the Jets use him to be effective. Why would any team put in a claim? No teams got to see Maybin much, and when they did he was misused. Ryan saw the potential and game him a shot. As far as claiming him off waivers, don't be silly. The Bills drafted him WAY too high and he was grossly overpaid for a situational player. It made way more sense for the Jets to make him a reasonable offer, and it is paying dividends for them at the moment. Don't hate on sexy Rexy or Maybin for the Bills coaching shortcomings.
  11. You pretty much did
  12. "If the Injury Bug hadn't bit" ... Yes I guess it is that time of year isn't it. The yearly rationalization of how injuries (and poor officiating) kept the Bills out of the playoff hunt (realistically if not mathematically) by December. I dare to dream of the year that I don't have to see a "If the Injury Bug hadn't bit" type excuse thread in December.
  13. The entire country except for WNY and the SD area get Oakland at GB. Only us privileged few get to see the Bills and the Bolts with Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots
  14. Feeling much better now!
  15. I was thinking that last night as well. The bolts D isn't anything to write home about though so our O should be able to put up some points. Looks to be a shootout to me. But the way Rivers can deliver the ball it will require a big effort from the Bills on both sides of the ball. The Bills being away, on grass, and in the midst of a big losing streak must be giving the bolts and their fans good reason to be hopeful. Not to mention coming off a road win themselves. But it is a short week for the bolts so the Bills have that going for them. We will see.
  16. It is one thing to want a HC like that, and quite another to find one. And even if you found one, would he accept the position on the Bills? Unfortunately I do not have an answer for this problem.
  17. I just don't think Gailey believes Spiller can be consistently effective running. They did try to get the ball in Spillers hands via the short pass several times as well.
  18. The fans of every other team in the AFC east.
  19. Exactly, if you don't want that kind of thing called on you then don't wrap your arm around the player. You can't expect the officials to be able to see everything so don't put yourself in the position to have that called on you by using proper technique. The official saw the player flop and Mac with his arm around the flopper, unfortunately for the Bills case closed.
  20. As you stated, there were many many holes to fill. At the time, the Bills had FredEX and Lynch. Both serviceable backs at least. The definition of a luxury pick, at least in my mind, is picking a player at a position where you have serviceable players already when many other positions on the team do not. This is clearly the case in my mind, and is why I called Spiller a luxury pick then, and now.
  21. Probably because he doesn't look physically bigger. The Jets use him as a situational player (and in a position that suits him, not as a LB) which allows him to contribute.
  22. Yeah, I watched til the bitter end, even on the ****ty internet feed. Which reminds me, people better start buying tickets pretty damn quick for the remaining home games!
  23. Not at 3-0 for me, but I must admit that at 5-2 I was questioning my assessment of the team a bit
  24. Spiller was absolutely, 100% a luxury pick. He had his best game running so far in my opinion, against a team not a lot better than the Bills D. And even then he managed to fumble and get the ball back for a TD only on a questionable overturn, and drop a couple important passes late. I didn't notice his pass blocking, but I don't remember them keeping him in to block either. He definitely deserves the rest of the season to show what he's got. But even in his best game so far he didn't set the world on fire yesterday. I don't think a situational back (which he will end up being at best in my opinion) is deserving of a #9 overall. But that's on Chanix, not Spiller.
