  1. Well this certainly sounds like the big splash Buddy was talking about earlier doesn't it!
  2. I have never played D&D, and my Mom is dead. Lighten up, Francis. Hopefully Mr. Lombardi is correct. And if he is, then it is time to get excited. In my opinion anyway, yours may vary. Making offers is a good thing. Making top offers is a very good thing. Signing them is a great thing.
  3. I never thought of it that way, but I guess you could be right.
  4. "Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said this morning that the team is planning to make waves with a free agent signing or two that makes the league take notice" No. I would not consider signing the Saints #2 WR something that would make the league take notice. Do you? How many? One would be nice. Two would be outstanding. I have no real opinion on Meachem specifically. All I was saying is I don't think he is a "big splash" Nix was talking about is all. And yeah ... I'm a greedy S.O.B.
  5. Not for nuthin, but I can only imagine what it must be like at OBD right about now. Crazyness
  6. Splash and splash if it works out.
  7. Not calling out anyone. Just saying Meachem can't be one of the big splashes Nix was talking about.
  8. Everyone is getting excited because 2 FA's agreed to talk to the Bills?
  9. Don't sweat it. He is a #2 to Colston. May or may not be a good add, but certainly not the big splash Nix was talking about.
  10. Yeah people are reading "He’s on his way to Buffalo." and interpreting that as he signed. Classic
  11. Nothing on ESPN web page either.
  12. Why in the world would that convince any big name FA's to come to Buffalo? They are interested in the quality of the team, the quality of the organization, and money (and maybe a little the locale). Even if you could fill the Ralph and have it be "rocking", it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference. They simply don't give a **** about how loud the fans are.
  13. All good talk. Looking forward to reading about these 1 or 2 big splash FA signings soon.
  14. Having never met the guy or his wife, if he is mature then what is the explanation for the immature on field behavior?
  15. Hmmm. So if they go 10-6 after putrid 4-12 and 6-10 seasons, but get nudged out of a wildcard spot the season is a bust to you? Tough crowd. 10-6 would be a phenomenal success to me in 2012.
  16. I wish Nix thought that way in 2010. I agree with you about the current QB situation.Love him or hate him, Fitz is the QB for the 2012 season. I cannot imagine a scenario that would have the Bills taking a QB in the first round.
  17. This is no different than the S. Johnson threads a week or so ago. There are people who thought he was going to get 9-10 mil per year from someone other than Buffalo. Some that wanted Nix to use the franchise tag and pay 9.5 mil I think it was for one season. Others (me included) that thought he would test the FA market and end up somewhere for about 7 or 7.5 mil per year. Basically we were all wrong. Same with Bell, we will see when it happens.
  18. 4-12 to 6-10 to 12-4 and undefeated at home (including Toronto) huh I know it is too early to say for sure as you stated, but I love the offseason I don't expect any big name FA's landing in Buffalo. But if Nix has another successful draft, and combine that with what on paper anyway looks like a easier schedule and I can see 8-8 as very possible.
  19. Never said it made sense to bring Tebow to Buffalo. But if for some reason he does end up there (the Smithers factor maybe) don't be surprised if he gets a chance to start. He can run well and forces defenses to account for that. He should be able to throw short about as well as Fitz (neither can throw deep). He can sell tickets. And most important, he has a knack for finding a way to win as shown in college and Denver. I think he would end up in Jacksonville, but I can see Smithers drooling over the potential ticket and merchandise sales. I have one son who absolutely would want a Tebow Bills jersey if that came to be. I think the Fitzcontract and the "Fitz is our guy" statements followed up by bringing in Tebow the next season would make Nix look like he doesn't know what he is doing. Which is one reason I don't see Nix doing it unless he gets overruled from above (Smithers above, not Jesus ).
  20. For passes > 15 yards I'm not sure it is possible to be less accurate that Fitz. For the short passes I'm not sure. Tebow brings the ability to run very successfully. Think of it like a constant wildcat threat. And no matter if you love him or hate him, Tebow has shown the ability to win both in College and the Pros. Something the Bills have been sorely lacking in for a VERY long time. The Bills could cut/trade pigpen and Brad Smith, though I doubt Gailey would want to dump pigpen. Smithers would probably love the "buzz factor" for ticket sales. Lots of potential reasons to want him. But Nix just giving Fitz that shiny new contract would definitely stand in the way.
  21. Interesting how most posts so far assume Tebow would be the backup to Fitz. I do not make that assumption. And at least publicly, I suspect Gailey would say it is a open competition (as it should be for all positions). Though that might be tough to do given the size of Fitz's new contract. Nix might fear how that makes him look.
  22. Be careful Dr. D. or they will revoke your "Polly" membership! hehe
  23. Signing his own guys so he can concentrate on the true FAs when the time comes is a sound move no matter how you look at it.
