Taking your kid to a Bills game
CodeMonkey replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the whole soaked with beer, punched etc stuff is very very very much the exception and not the rule. That being said however, if things go bad they tend to go very bad very quickly. For me personally I won't be taking my kids to a regular season game until they are in their late teens. Preseason games, particularly the kids day one like I said earlier are perfect for the kids and I highly recommend it. Also training camp in Rochester is absolutely fantastic for kids. -
Taking your kid to a Bills game

First off, congrats! Always good to have more Bills fans in the world I took my oldest to a regular season game when he was about 9 and it was not a great experience. I have taken all of my kids to the kids day preseason game every year since they were about 7 or 8 and it has been fine every year. The mega-drunks tend to avoid that game (very much appreciated) and it has always been a fun time. Plus you can get tickets dirt cheap because it is a preseason game -
I was questioning ... questioning if I could have been wrong and his throwing motion was not bad after all I hope Gailey figures out a series of game plans that allows Fitz and the offense to light it up all season, we will see. And I agree with you in that the defense should be much improved this year and should not be an excuse if the offense does not perform.

There is always a first time. Plus with his incentive laden contract, his past performance (juice enhanced as it was), and the ability to carry 10 more in camp I don't see anything foolish about taking a flyer on him.

Competition at the QB position

My statement may not be fair either as Gailey was new to the team going into that camp. -
Competition at the QB position

Yeah I get that you need a clear cut starter by opening day and have 2 starting QBs during the season is a terrible idea. I only question making that decision of the clear cut starter before the first day of training camp. Even if Gailey went into camp with a completely open mind odds were heavily against VJ anyway. If for no other reason than the offense being virtually unchanged from last season and the players being comfortable with Fitz and Fitz being comfortable with Gailey and Gaileys system. I see only disadvantages going into camp with a closed mind. But apparently ChaNix and I think differently on this matter and I certainly do not have the wisdom of either of those gentlemen when it comes to football. But I leave you with this one thought, didn't Gailey go into camp a couple of years ago with his mind set that Trent Edwards was the starter? How did that work out? -
Vince Young to address the media at 1pm

Prediction: "I'm here to help the Bills in any way I can." EDIT: “The biggest thing is I just want to go out and play football, help out in any way I can.” I was pretty close -
Competition at the QB position

I can see your point as was discussed earlier viz a vie Brady. I can't imagine with his arm that ChaNix would feel that way about Fitz. But they are running the show and not me. -
Competition at the QB position

For what it's worth, having a fair and open competition for a position does not equal controversy. It just means the coaching staff goes into camp with an open mind. -
I agree with you. But there are a lot of people who think no competition for the QB position is what's best for the team.

Competition at the QB position
CodeMonkey replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know what the Bills have said publicly. I also have a hard time believing that if, and that's a VERY big if, VY or any other QB lights it up in camp and preseason that he sits in favor of Fitz simply because of Fitzs contract or perceived locker room karma. He who plays best, plays. At least that's my (and I would hope ChaNix's) philosophy. But ultimately even though VY is physically superior to Fitz, his $0.10 brain is going to hold him back from dethroning Fitz in my opinion. -
Competition at the QB position
CodeMonkey replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Regarding the disclaimer, you kind of are saying Fitz is as good as Brady aren't you? At least relatively speaking. The reason why you could name Brady the starter for the Pats* is because he is obviously a first ballot HOFer and far superior to whatever backup QB in on that team. To name Fitz the starter now would imply the same is true of him (minus the HOFer part) on the Bills. No? -
what is hammers lot like?
CodeMonkey replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've had it take 30 min leaving from lot 1 right after the game even though you can turn left onto big tree. If you try and leave immediately following the game it pretty much sucks no matter where you park. So my advice is to do some post-game tailgating -
Competition at the QB position

By the time the season starts you need to have a clear starter. I agree that two starters at the QB position is a bad thing. But to have a starting QB set in stone before the first practice to me is counter productive. -

It is a nice, clean, safe parking lot that is the ultimate in tailgate friendly. Close to the stadium and some ladies only port-a-pots which yields a very high female-acceptance-factor. And it has the pinto tailgate. Bottom line, you simply can't go wrong parking there. -
In todays NFL you need a QB with a good arm and brain. Legs are optional, but very helpful. Fitz is missing the arm and so far anyway, VY has been missing the brain.

Competition at the QB position
CodeMonkey replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the OP. Competition is always a good thing. The QB position is no different in that regard than any other and it baffles me why some think it is. -
Are you more a fan of Fitz or of the Bills? For me, I don't care if it's Fitz, VY, pigpen or some UDFA off the street. I want whoever is the best player at any position to play, and that includes QB. No one, particularly Gailey, should let themselves get distracted by anything else. Your best chance of winning is when your best players play ... period.

Interesting take. I would hope every position is up for grabs like I stated, but I can see your logic as well. -

If you think that if VY outperforms Fitz in camp and preseason that he won't be the starter you are kidding yourself. Every position is up for grabs at the start of camp. Fitz being the returning starter (with the shiny new contract) has it as his job to lose. But it will be a competition. Which is good if for no other reason than to have someone on the roster that can actually push Fitz. -
I just heard from my China friend that he has #13, #14, #99 Nike Elite style white in stock ready to ship. Bills store should get them soon

UPDATE: QB Vince Young Signs With Buffalo Bills
CodeMonkey replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has to figure the Bills are his best chance to be a starter. Plus it's only a one year deal for $2 mil I believe. Its a deal that makes sense to both sides which is always the best kind. -

It will be interesting to compare and contrast Fitz and VY at camp this year in the side-by-side skill drills. -

The NFL tried NFL Europe and they play games in Europe every year now. So they are trying. Just not having much success to date. Soccer has a very strong hold there and the rest of the world. Tackle football gaining popularity outside the US is a very uphill battle in my opinion.
