  1. That leaves him with only 10-12 beers. What is he going to do the other 3 quarters?
  2. It's a business, nothing more and nothing less. "Heart and soul" has meaning to fans only. It always comes down to money.
  3. As someone who watches with his kids at home, a blackout free season sure sounds good to me
  4. Vanity. "His" team until he dies. His family gets a buttload of money either way. There may be some tax benefit to his family for waiting until he dies as well, I'm not sure.
  5. Hmmm. Probably the same 10,000 people that go to the Toronto games
  6. Only 1 preseason game in the 5 years? That sucks. Can't blame Mr. Wilson though. This means some big cha-ching in the old boys wallet and satisfies the teams international commitment!
  7. I suspect the bigger difference will be the off season additions to the D. Wanny is starting with far greater talent than his predecessor.
  8. Why do people keep saying this? Was Wanny not "asst head coach" last year with, one would have to presume, at least some input into the defense? The only difference this season would be the title of DC and running the defense completely.
  9. Not blaming him at all. It was brilliant marketing.
  10. A lot of people got fooled into buying seasons that year. Maybe they are just being more careful now. I do agree with you that this team appears considerably stronger overall. But never underestimate the drawing power of someone like TO. Brandon knew what he was doing.
  11. Not so much isn't capable as his body of work to date does not support the offensive genius label applied to him by some here in my opinion. A lifetime ago in NFL terms, he took over the Cowboys. Who at that time were at least a decent team. He did make it to the playoffs both years, but lost in the wild card game both trips. And he fell into the playoffs the second year with a record of 8-8. His overall record with Dallas was 18-14. A fairly mediocre showing I'd say, and before the Bills his only NFL HC experience, with even that being in the late 90's. His overall record as a NFL head coach is currently 28-36. At Georgia Tech his overall record was 44-32, with his best season being 9-5 and the rest split between 7-6 and 7-5. When I look at his overall body of work, I see a study in mediocrity. Nothing in there shows me a genius of any kind. I would classify Gailey so far as a capable coach, but as far as a genius or even a top tier head coach I'm still waiting to "see the baby" I guess. And FWIW, I always thought that Gailey was the best HC the Bills could get at the time.
  12. Bills facebook Status: So what Jay is saying is correct. Unless there is a big run on season tickets expect more individual tickets to be available. Not to mention stubhub.
  13. Maybe a player nearing the end of his career who has a nice fat bank account but doesn't have a ring takes the .5 mil less to get the ring. But otherwise it's a business so show me the money.
  14. The hell with dolls, throw REAL babies onto the field!!!
  15. Absolutely, as any regime should be. Three years in a row below .500 is an epic FAIL. But with this team and their opponents this season, I think there would have to be some monumental screw ups by both coaches and key players not to make at least 8-8.
  16. And all this before the team even steps onto a practice field. Oy vey.
  17. Gailey stubbornly stuck with his 5 wide offense long past it being figured out by defensive coordinators around the league last season. Not at all what I would expect from an offensive "genius". But it is consistent with someone with his career resume. To me this season is as much make or break for Gailey as it is for Fitz.
  18. Based on what exactly? This may be the most inept thread ever started here that I have seen. Congrats on that.
  19. Bad comparisons. In bike riding and swimming any contact to the head or anywhere else on the body is accidental whereas in tackle football violent contact to the body and to the head is intentional, or at least unavoidable. Additionally your stats are skewed as well. Practically every kid in America rides a bike and/or swims occasionally versus the small number who play tackle football. So your 20.000 and 5,000 numbers for example work out to an extraordinarily small percentage of participants when compared to tackle football head injuries. As far as I'm concerned parents should follow their own conscience when it comes to their children playing football or any other sport. But they should understand the very real risks going in.
  20. What I meant by "watering down the game day experience" is not what you described (arresting and heavily fining the idiots). Rather what the NFL is doing with recent "family friendly" rules limiting tailgating etc. I love tailgating all day at the Ralph, and after the game as well. By severely restricting the hours you are allowed to tailgate you are punishing everyone for the behavior of the idiots. That's what I don't like. What you suggest makes perfect sense and makes you wonder why that doesn't happen already.
  21. Thing is, changes like that change the game to the point where it might not have the appeal it does now. Tackle football is a very violent game. If you take the violence out of it, would there be enough left to the game to have fans?
  22. I can't imagine that has anything to do with winning or losing. No matter what King Roger says or does, in my opinion a regular season (or playoff this season hopefully) game is no place for a kid. It is an adult activity in an adult atmosphere, and there is nothing wrong with that. If the NFL tries to water down the game day experience too much they are going to have no one at the games. I think they should just leave it the way it is. Those that want to go to the games can, and those that do not can watch on TV with their kids (what I prefer). But for this paradigm to work completely it would take getting rid of the !@#$ing stupid piece of **** blackout rules.
  23. That's probably the best "don't let this happen to you, son" story I've ever heard
