I agree that the defense looks much better. I haven't seen improvement in the offense as of yet. With or without Manuel. Probably due to not many offensive roster changes over last season combined with a rookie QB (and recent PS QB) and coaching staff.

Tackle football is an interesting sport that way. Teams really cannot practice at full speed and with full contact or they risk too many players being injured. Even their non-contact practices are severely limited during camp. This makes the players very unprepared for the season in relation to other professional sports. Couple that with the very (in my opinion over) precise rules makes for a lot of penalties and generally sloppy play. I mean if an offensive lineman sneezes he will get called for a false start (probably the worst rule in my opinion). I would bet money that if you had enough cameras to see every play on the field in detail you could find a penalty on nearly every play. Which leads to inconsistency in the calls and infuriation on the part of the fans and players.

And yet if the sides had been switched Bills fans would have been irate if it wasn't called.

That's what the Bills are to non Bills fans. Yeah the announcers sucked yesterday, but I could finish the game with them. When the super-homer Bills announcers are on I usually don't make it through the game listening to them. I find them too embarrassing.

I don't see why not at this point. They have seen what Lewis has. They brought Flynn in, why not look at him as well.

There was a reason he has been a practice squad level player his entire career even with that cannon arm he has.

I know. The 3-5 Bills are going to easily beat the 8-0 Chiefs. It could happen of course, but the same people saying this are the same ones predicting an easy win against the Saints yesterday. Nothing wrong with a little blind optimism I suppose. Particularly when we can't look to the Sabres for any success.

Why does thinking they are always going to win make you a fan? Why can't someone objectively think the Bills are going to lose to what they consider to be a superior team and still be a fan of and follow the Bills? I agree that some take it too far and think everything the Bills do and seemingly will ever do is bad. But there are those that think every move the team makes is good to and that is equally as absurd. And why would they watch the game is easy to answer. No matter what the talking heads or anyone else thinks or predicts will happen, you just never know. Last weeks game as a case in point.

Simple. Play good quality football and win more games than you lose. Until that happens, the odd win in a poorly played game will be considered a fluke.

So the thread is lame and doom-and-gloom because the original poster and several others do not think the Bills are going to win this Sunday? Well if I wasn't anti-stereotypes I'd say you only want to see homer, unicorns-and-rainbows threads.

I think it was the current line when they made their predictions.

I don't think he is ruled out yet. But maybe they will opt to rest him as a precaution since it is "only the Bills".

Nah. Practice squad QB and now it looks like they are going to sit Spiller. There will be no more calls for blood than there are after any loss. Probably just Hackett and/or Marrone like usual.

Playing Spiller last week was a mistake. He was worse than useless. Let it heal so he at least has a chance to contribute.
