  1. Dude, ya need to get your eyeglasses fixed.

More resembles Jennifer "Romo" Capriati and her steroid jaw than anything else.

    A little too manly, dude.

To borrow a Seinfeld phrase..."not that there's anything wrong with that..."

Yeah, she's got a grill like Lou Ferrigno. Wonder if there's something swingin' beneath that skirt.

  2. For what it's worth...Oakland is pretty deep at the DT position. They have Seymour and Tommy Kelly, with John Henderson rotating in. Maybe...just maybe this kid has talent, but was just buried in their depth chart. I really like the fact that he plays with a "nasty demeanor," as I feel that we need a little more of that on this team.

  3. So...the Bills just signed DT Kellen Heard off the Raider's practice squad.

The guy is an absolute monster at 6' 5" - 355 pounds, and is reputed to have a nasty demeanor on the football field. After doing a little online research about the guy, I discovered that he also played RT in college (for Texas A&M and Memphis). Apparently, he was known to be a nasty run blocker. I know that it's probably unlikely to happen this season, but is there any chance this guy gets a look at RT?

    Interesting :)

  4. Auburn runs the ball over 77% of the time. Newton's got just as many running attempts as passing. Call me crazy but if we draft a QB shouldn't his strength be in actually throwing the ball?

I'm not in favor of drafting Newton, but in his defense as a passer, he has proven to be able to make all the throws. With the right coaching, it appears that he could be successful as an NFL QB.

  5. Skelton played his college ball at Fordham, a DII program. Hall played in a pro style offense at BYU. Skelton was drafted as a project. It's way too early to say whether Skelton is going to be a player in the league or not. I guess you could say the same thing about Levi Brown, but I thought Brown looked awful in the preseason.

    Just my opinion...

I think that Skelton was drafted in the 5th round, due to his physical tools, to be a legitimate contender for the starting QB position. Max Hall, who was not drafted, was the "meh why not?" developmental prospect. I think you have it backwards.

  6. The fact that we're in a total rebuild means just the opposite of your statement. If we were a player away from being a contender, your statement would be more valid. Since we're a lot of players away, if Buddy decides he's a franchise QB, this may be the best time to get one. I'd rather see us draft a QB who will sit at least part of next year & be our leader in the Super Bowl in 3 years, than get a LB, DE or RT who starts on opening day 2011, and still be a QB away from anything in 2013.

I guess our opinions differ with regard to where this team stands. I don't really see us in "total rebuild mode." In fact, with the right additions on the defensive side of the ball, I could see us being very competitive next year. We have proven that we can hold our own offensively, and we have a talented, young core of players on that side of the ball. Adding a beastly run stopper like Fairley, and a couple solid linebackers through the draft and free-agency, and suddenly we could have a much improved defense.

With so much defensive talent in the front end of this draft, why reach on a QB who is likely going to ride the pine next season. If Fitz doesn't work out, then we can always look at drafting a QB next year. Besides, winning teams are built in the trenches. Let's start there, and then work our way to upgrading the skill positions as needed.

  7. What, you need an all-star at every position? Bush will be relatively cheap and be able to alternate with Spiller if Jackson goes down - Spiller can not handle an every down load.

Exactly what from my post leads you to believe that I feel we need an all-star at every position? We do not need to bring in a veteran RB like Michael Bush. We don't have enough carries to spread around to our two current RB's, but you're saying that we need to bring in Bush to help handle the workload. If we're looking for another RB to ride the pine, we could easily add an undrafted free agent to fill that void.

Furthermore, I disagree that Spiller can not be an every down back. Just because he hasn't been given the opportunity to do so yet, does not mean that he isn't capable of filling that role. Explain to me exactly why he isn't capable of being a feature back.

  8. He certainly is an intriguing prospect, but I have my reservations about him. This is largely unsubstantiated, but he just reminds me of Vince Young on Steroids. That does not sit well with me. That being stated...I would not throw a tantrum if he somehow ended up in Buffalo. Problem is...he is shaping up to be a top 10 draft pick. I can't see us taking a developmental prospect that early in the draft. Our first pick this year must be someone who will step in and start from day one.

  9. What's crazy is that even on these viciously cold mornings I still see these idiots--who are old enough to know better--on their way to work, jacket unzipped, no hat, not scarf, no gloves, hair still wet from their shower, and I wonder if I suddenly became the world's biggest vag, or if these guys are just dumb and suffering.

I now live (not by choice) in Fairbanks, Alaska. I thought I had experienced cold and dry conditions until I came here. Last week it reached -35 degrees almost every day. As soon as you step outside, your eyes freeze, your lungs freeze with that first breath, and your nasal passages freeze. I literally sprint from my car (which needs to be plugged in) to work. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It's kinda weird here because football games start at 9:00am (which means I'm hammered by about 9:30). My wife and I go to this bar to watch the Bills game, and surprisingly, the place is always full of Bills fans. It's great to see that Bills nation has spread to the far reaches of interior Alaska.

    Go Bills!!

  10. He's a 5th Round, rookie QB. If he turns out to be anything it will be in time unless he goes Tom Brady on the NFC West.

    My point exactly.

Max Hall was an undrafted free agent from this year's draft class. So if Max Hall got the nod over Skelton, who was a 5th round pick, that tells me that the coaching staff doesn't think much of Skelton. So, to directly respond to the OP, I don't think it would be worth seeking out a guy like Skelton....even if he were waived by Arizona. He likely is not better than what we have already behind Fitzy.

  11. There were a lot of people on this board who really wanted us to take Skelton. With Arizona not selecting him until the 5th round, we easily could have grabbed him if we wanted to. With the Cardinals announcing that Skelton will get the start this weekend, I figured it would be a good time for everyone to share some thoughts on the kid. How do you think he will do this week? Anyone still upset we did not take him in the draft?

    As for my opinion..

I think he will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 215 yards 2TDs and 1 INT.

I was never that big of an advocate in the first place, so I'm fine that we didn't select him.

I wonder why Max Hall got some starts over him when Anderson was yanked. Leads me to believe that he is not better than any of our current back-up QB's.

  12. Ooooo, buddy. Not sure what you mean to imply, but in terms of dry, windy, unbearably painful cold, Chicago has Buffalo licked.

Personally, I'll take 3 feet of snow over this snowless wind tunnel I live in now.

Agreed...love Chicago, but the winters are BRUTAL cold and windy. I have lived in both places during winter time, and I would much prefer WNY winters.

  13. This year's road-grader/run-blocker/blind-side protector is Gabe Carimi...

The Badger running game amassed 2,968 yards this season, punched in 46 touchdowns on the ground and produced three running backs who were considered for All-Big Ten honors. Every single time a crucial 3rd or 4th-and-1 came up, UW running backs just followed the right butt cheek of Carimi to pick up the first down. With Carimi protecting Tolzien’s blind side, the Badgers gave up just 12 sacks on the season.

Even more impressive, Carimi matched up against the conference best and came out wayyyy on top. Going up against Ohio State’s Cameron Heyward, Iowa’s Adrian Clayborn and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Ryan Kerrigan, Carimi limited the future NFL D-linemen to five tackles and one sack — combined.

Carimi deserves Big Ten Offensive Player of Year

Badgers run ball 29 straight times during second half

The Bills should take him in round one.

Love Carimi...watched a lot of Wisconsin football and he appears to be the real deal. The only way we take him in the first, however, is if we trade back. I see him going in the middle of round 1. Reason being...I don't think his skill set translates to LT in the NFL.

  14. Reading your post it seems that you are content with our current OL outside of maybe RT. Its almost like you don’t want the team to sign one of the best Gs in the league. That strikes me as you don’t want this team to improve? Like you are happy with what we have had for 10 years. Maybe you are, who knows, but just because we are worse off at DE or LB doesn’t mean we should improve our other still weak positions. And also, who cares if Wood was a 1st rounder – he should still be moved to G or TE or QB if it would make the team better. PS I just got word that he will be moving to C this week – so we can see how he does with Howard at G.

Last year Peppers was on the market – yet all the fans thought signing him was a bad idea because he cost too much money. He went to the Bears, who drafted 11th while we drafted 9th (not much worse than us) and Chicago has just as crappy weather – yet he went there. Now they have the #1 ranked defense in the league and Peppers has been worth every penny and then some.

The Bills cannot ask for a great DE or LB to be a FA this year. If there is one I would hope the Bills sign him. But it looks like Mankins is a sure fire FA at this point and probably the best at ANY position, and he would be a significant improvement to this team. That is not a panic or knee-jerk reaction that will hurt the team long-term, and that’s not me giving up on Wood, Levitre, or Urbik, but rather an ongoing effort to get the best team on the field.

This OL is very close. With 2 key additions we could have a great starting line up and be very deep. Mankins is a guy we could add, who you know is great, and not use a valuable draft pick to do it. That means a 2nd or third could be used on another player and we don’t have to worry much about the OL for 5 years. We need to set a foundation to build off of and I hope we do.

The interior of our offensive line is the least of our worries. If Ralphie is going to open up the wallet and cough up some dough for a top-tier free agent, I would be pissed if it was a guard or center.

    I agree with Thoner.

Bringing in a guy like Logan Mankins would be huge. Yes I like all the Bills younger interior O-linemen but a player like Mankins doesn't come available very often. He would immediately give the team credibility if they could sign him. It could pave the way for other free agents to consider the Bills.

In addition, Mankins would immediately become by far, the best blocker on the team and the experienced leader that this offensive line lacks at the moment (apologies to Hangartner, who I like). With players like Mankins, Wood, and Urbik on the interior, we would have a very nice power running element to the team.

Where does that leave Levitre? IMO...he is too good of a player to be a back-up.

  15. It's not that simple. An ectomorphic bone structure cannot support the excess muscle, especially when that person is lacking the CORE and hip struction to take on blockers. I do not care how his Jersey Shore ab-six-pack looks-a chain is only as strong as its weakeast link

Here is a picture od Maybin in drag

    http://cheeju.wordpress.com/2007/08/29/cathie-jung-worlds-smallest-waist-woman/

So...should Maybin maybe try out for kicker? Lindell has had a down season. Is Martin Gramatica an ectomorph?

  16. I was just on ESPN watching a clip on how they let there head coach go & next year they will be paying 3 head coaches salaries that no longer work for them . That also brought to mind the bungle that our illustrious owner pulled by signing DJ to a 3 year extension of which the Bills are still paying while he is currently employed by another team ??

I don't get it !! In the real world when you are TERMINATED from a position - you no longer receive payment from the said employer -- YOU SCREWED UP --- YOU WERE FIRED -- TERMINATED !!!

Another thing when a team releases a player before the end of a contract (unless like Veke it was injury related) they don't pay out the contract (or do they ?) this whole deal has got me thinking i need to get some kind of job with the NFL if they fire you & still pay you that's a sweet deal !!!

What i am asking is how & why are these coaches that get fired still able to collect on these million dollar contracts when they are just that FIRED ?? I might be able to see it if they were unemployed but they go to work for other clubs and still get paid by there previous employer i don't get it !!!!!

They should be made to give it to a local charity at least dang money mongers !!!!!

One of MANY huge blunders made by this organization. Who really cares though...Ralph certainly has enough money to go around. I think we are about 25 million under the salary cap this season.

  17. I get that hunch about Wes Welker. Whenever I see him, I'm reminded of that episode of fresh prince of bel air where Carlton mistakenly takes speed (or whatever it's called now) and dances like a maniac.

As for the best defensive player, I'd have to go with Dont....err...I mean Haloti Ngata.

LOL...amen brother! Ngata is one of the most dominant defensive players in the league.
