  1. I obviously agree with you. The only scenario where I see them keeping Smith is if EJ wins, the rookie WRs aren't quite ready and they feel they need a veteran that can help a rookie QB.
  2. I hope you are right. Watching the Bills D has been painful for years. Nothing ever worked. I hated the Tampa two, was glad to see it go but the D actually got worse. Watching Kelsey play LB brought tears to my eyes. I have to admit to drinking the Wannstedt Kool Aid last year. The season openner cured that. All I know about Alonso is watching highlights and what I've read. Never heard of Lawson before the Bills signed him. Didn't know anything about Hughes either, other than he was considered a bust.I hope these guys can play and I hope Pettine can coach. I am sick of watching crappy defense.
  3. Really funny and sadly true. A good friend and college roommate was from Ballston Spa. I was in his wedding, reception was at The Knights of Columbus. His family owned a restaurant named Sam's. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about him being under utilized on those bad teams as a blessing.
  4. I certainly do not hate Brad Smith. I don't know him. I think he works hard after all he has been in the league for seven years.. That being said I think the Bills over paid him. He is not an NFL QB. He is not even much of a threat as a wild cat QB, because he cannot throw. Yes he had success running for three yards for a first down but your RB should be able to do that. This coaching staff has no intention of running the wild cat, so his QB days are over. He is a good ST player and at WR he is at best a depth player. He turns thirty this year. Do you pay him $4M to be a ST player and a back up WR? You know what you have with Brad, do you want him taking up a roster spot at the expense of one of the young guys with potential?
  5. Could someone more talented the please doctor up their logo.
  6. Are there any pictures of Manuel? With his Bills helmet not FSU. The NFL is a completely different game.
  7. I don't think he is taking a professional stance. He intimates that at either Philly or Arizona he was not given a fair shot. What I think is absurd is the statement that the Bills don't view Manuel as the future. I think that Philly's signing of Vick was in and of itself an indication of the concern that staff had for Kolb. He was a second round pick, he had been there for a couple of years. So the coaches knew him. He had been named the heir apparent. Yet he loses his job because of injury and is subsequently traded. The strike would have given them more time to look at film. The coaches weren't on strike. Kolb lost his job in Philly, he was on the team for a few years. They drafted him to be the QB of the future not as trade bait. Yet he doesn't believe that the Bills drafted E.J. as the QB of the future? It's a dumb think to say.
  8. Wasn't Whisenhunt he coach when they traded for Kolb? Didn't the GM consult with the coach before the trade? Whisenhunt most definatly was involved in that decision. Why would he be on board with trading for a guy that didn't fit his system? After that trade Kolb would have been given every opportunity to be the starter. I don't buy that he didn't fit Whisenhunt's system. The fact remains that Kolb has been given the opportunity to start twice by two different coaching staffs and lost the job both times. Kolb's comment that he doesn't "buy what is being sold" is dulusional. Does he think that the Blls drafted Manuel in the first round to be a back up? Of course they view Manual as the future, any suggestion to the contrary is absurd.
  9. Funny, I was just having this conversation with my nephew. E.J. would really have to stink in camp and preseason not to get the nod as the starting QB. So then my biggest concern is WR. When I think about a rookie QB with rookie WR, it does not give me a lot of confidence. That being said, with good o line play, two good RB that can catch, Chandler, and Johnson, maybe it's enough. Woods might be the key. If he is as NFL ready as people claim, it could be enough weapons to help a rookie QB succeed. Let's hope so. As far as the coaching, it has to be better. Last year was down right bizarre.
  10. I wish, great player died way too young.
  11. I know your concerned about the pain and anguish being a Bills fan will most certainly bring to your son, but you have no choice.
  12. How do you get "good news" from that? I am seriously asking. Is there some code I am unaware of? Or is it just because he hasn't tweeted in months?
  13. Well, that's what he was wearing and I didn't say they were ugly. They were actually very stylish in 1970 and who knows maybe orange is his favorite color.
  14. Funny In the same vein, I think I'll wear a clear plastic bag.
  15. I don't know how odd it is but I met OJ walking down Main St. Downtown right after the Bills drafted him. He was with a bunch of front office people. He was wearing orange platform shoes, odd that I would remember that detail.
  16. Great! Brought tears to my eyes. God I'm a sap.
  17. I have a confession to make. I rooted for the Patriots to beat The Rams in that Super Bowl. I even went to a bar named Boston's for the second half. Needless to say it was full of Patriot fans. In way of an explanation I tend to root for old AFL teams. I also tend to root for teams that have never won anything. I had no idea I was in league with the devil. I had no idea how much misery that franchise would heap upon me over the next decade. As I stated in another thread, I am sick of the Patriots. I'll take a Bills win but I would like to embarrass them, run it up like they have done to the Bills.i like to see Bady and Belichick pleading with the refs to no avail. I want it to be the beginning of the end for them. I want to go back to that bar for the second half and watch those smug fans make excuses and cry in their beers. That would be wicked awesome!
  18. I'm not sure having Fitz/Gaily still both with the Bills is a good thing. Gailey admittedly paid little attention to the defense and Fitz, well he is a nice back up. A role he would not play again with the Bills.
  19. My father had season tickets from the Bills inception. I know that my brother went to the first game, because he reminds me all the time. I remember when the Houston Oilers won the first AFL championship. That being said I think I really became a fan in 1963.
  20. Beat me to it. Seems like a nice kid. I hope he can play, the Bills need him.
  21. No I would not. I was going to give my reasoning but it should not be necessary.
