  1. How do you explain Chris Johnson's production, 1st picks can and do pan out, just not for us. You rarely find that kind of speed undrafted. Terrell Davis was a brute but he wasn't very fast. Peterson has a great 40yds dash and a 1st pick. It depends on your team and offensive philosophy. If you use pulling guards and fullbacks your following blockers so speed is secondary to power. Any position follows the same thing. Brady was a 6th round pick. Peters was a undrafted TE. Good scouting finds the best players regardless of the position drafted. The best at this is Bill Polian. Finding the right GM is the most important thing you can do for your football team. Was Dungy a genious or did he just have good players. Look at Indy's success this year.

I am starting to lean on us hiring Frazier. It really matters how good Nix is. If Frazier knows his X + O's we will be fine (everybody that has interviewed him thinks he does), look at Wade, good x+ O's man that just win's and we threw him away along with Polian. No wonder we can't get to the playoffs in 10 years.

Go Bills, stop wasting time. Best man to get has already interviewed for the job, plus he WANTS the job. Added bonus is he wasn't on the staff last year. No offense to Fewell but he has to have had enough of the media here and his surroundings at 1 Bills Drive. Fresh is good!!!!!!!

You are right with what you say about Johnson or Peterson. But that is no secret. Look at the Fred Jackson's, Davis's, Peters, Bradys that can be had in the late rounds. Good players are good players. It was no secret that Patrick Willis would be a good LB but he wasnt there when we picked now was he. There can be better players had in the low rounds of the draft than Lynch is. Unfortunately an NFL team wouldnt trade a box of jock straps for him at this point. His career is dismal when you look at it in the long terms. He has gradually gotten worse over the last 3 years (no suprise his off the field issues have stayed the same). No team would give you anything for him when they could potentially pick up a Fred Jackson type of player in the 6th round. Lynch may have getten to 2k yards faster than any Bills RB in history but that is not alot. Johnson did that in 1 year. If we had Johnson you dont have this conversation. Instead you have a RB that has trouble gaining 65yards a game in a single season.

  2. I actually think the veteran players are all for it. they don't want a chump making more money than them. How many people on the Bills do you think are pissed because Aaron maybin made more money than them.

Probobly none. It gives them more ammo to make more when their contract is up. Or hold out for more. Why you think we didnt sign Peters to more money?

Sign Docker and Walker to highest OLmen paid contacts in Bills history and of course the best OLmen we have would be pissed. Especially when the guy next to him sucks.

Schobel didnt mind much when Kelsey got paid all that money. Gave him reason to hold out, and hey, whadya know, he got paid a ton for it.

No, The veterans could care less about it. They just make more when its their turns.

  3. They absolutely need to change the way rookies get paid. Its ridiculous the amount of power a player has who has never played a down in the NFL.

    +1

However, I dont think even the veterans want to change this. They simply want to get paid more money than the rookies that are earning much more than they are, all while not playing a single down in the NFL.

I have said for at least a year now that the NFL could find itself in big trouble if they go on strike. Especially in an economy like this. People are scraping by to pay bills and put food on the table and enjoy watching the game (either from the stadium or their couch). That loses a bit of steam if they go on strike. People are sick of watching ignorant kids like Lynch and Pacman Jones act like thugs while making more in a season than the fans that watch them might make in their lifetimes.

IMO its actually perfect for the UFL. If there is a strike you may see free agents play in the UFL, you may see hold out rookies play in the UFL to get away from teams like Buffalo, Detroit, St Louis (Jim Kelly ring a bell?). Honestly this might be Buffalos best shot to have a football team. If we lost the Bills you would quickly see Jim Kelly and group sign up for a UFL franchise in hopes that it becomes the next AFL. This might not be too far off. The NFL will have to expand again in its future or else why all the overseas games like London, Toronto, Mexico City? This would be an easy way for the NFL to add up to 8 teams at once (one in each division), add games and bye weeks to the schedule, and increase the amount of teams in the playoffs. If Buffalo loses the team, we may want to jump on the UFL ship quickly.

My 2 Cents, Flame away, But there will be another merge of NFL teams in the next 20 yrs. Unless we all die in 2012 that is.

  4. It's a very complex issue and while I appreciate the benevolent sentiment in the article. Don't fool yourself. The players aren't upset that the prices are so high, they are upset that they're not getting more of that money. The players aren't looking out for the fans in this regard either.

I'm certainly not for the NFL or the way they seek to use the law, but there are ramifications either way.

    +1

  5. As a Bay Area guy, I gotta come to the defense of Oakland. While Lynch has thug tendencies, he could just as easily be a thug from anywhere else in the country. Not a single one of the notorious thugs in NFL history is from Oakland. In fact, here are some NFL players who ARE from Oakland:

    - Maurice Jones-Drew

    - Langston Walker

    - Dennis Dixon

    - Donnie Spragan

    - Steve DeBerg

    - Amani Toomer

That's practically a Boy Scout troop, not a gang of thugs.

(OK, I feel better now.)

That was like .00000000001% of their populations history. Not looking good for you.

  6. Brandon gets promoted, Nix gets hired, and all of a sudden most of the established or up-and-coming coaches want nothing to do with the Bills' HC position. I'm a believer that the market disseminates information faster and more accurately than other mechanisms, and so I read into this that everyone on the "inside" knows information that we don't (or that we refuse to accept as true). Namely: that this organization is toxic. And for the "true believers" out there who continue to cling to the notion that this is, or can be a well-run organization, just wait until free agency season starts on March 1. If the coaches can't be lured here with $$, the players are going to be even more reluctant to sign up for the opportunity. Yes we got TO, but tell me, did he have ANY other offers? No. I think that when free agency starts up, we'll finally get the full picture of just how dismal this organization's standing is.

Of course, I expect that the "true believers" will be telling us that it's Nix's philosophy of acquiring through the draft (nevermind that we don't have enough picks to fill all of the holes on this roster).

    BLAH BLAH BLAH

  7. It's not. He had a monster game against Texas, but I have watched him on different occasions and he is not a #1 draft pick.

He would be a good fit in Buffalo, but STL will pick a QB, DET will pick a WR (hahaha), and Suh will fall.

Your out of your mind. Suh is arguably the best player in college this year. He will be taken top 3 overall.

STL is iffy on what they will do. Much like the Bills they have so many needs. They could sure up their lines on both sides of the ball and hand off to Steven Jackson every play until next year and then draft their QB.

Thinking or even joking that DET will take a WR makes you look just as funny as them taking 3 in a row. DET needs defensive help now that they have a QB, WR, TE, and RB. They will go either OL early to protect Stafford or DL to stop the run.

But then you forget to say that Suh would have to fall another 7 spots in the draft and with the teams picking there is no way in hell Suh is there for us.

Tampa (every mock Ive seen has them taking Gerald McCoy, so if Suh is there you know they would rather take Suh)

Washinton (prolly not but with a new coach and Haynesworth causing problems this year who knows)

    KC (unknown with new coach)

    Seattle (unknown with new coach)

    Cleveland (unknown with Holmgren)

    Oakland (unknown with new coach)

Our best bet and probobly a reach for us to get him at #9 would be Rolondo McClain and our LB's need help. But that all depends on the new coach and if they decide to go with a 3-4 or stick with the 4-3. It also depends on how they see Maybin and if he can be used at either DE or OLB.

Theres too many if's at this point and its almost pointless to speculate until we get a new coach and until FA is over with. Sure the Bills would want Suh, I doubt there is a coach in the league that wouldnt like him on their team.

  8. the whole "snitches gets stitches" isn't a Jim Rome thing, its a street saying that he borrowed from an interview with someone from the hood(Ray Lewis maybe?). In basic terms, it means keep your mouth shut unless you want to get jacked up.

An example would be watching someone get gunned down by a person you know and not relaying this info to the police because "snitches get stitches", meaning you're next if your open your mouth. I know this concept is hard for many of you from suburbanite communities to grasp...

From your dumb sig and not being able to grasp what anyone was talking about I have a feeling you are younger than most would think. Were you 12 when the whole Ray Lewis case happened? Do you even remember it? And you obviously dont remember that your "snitches get stitches" line is much older than that. Goes back to the NWA days or even older. But you probobly dont know them either.

  9. I agree. Maybe not top five, and you might get ripped for that but he is def talented. To trade him away for a 3rd or 4th round pick like most people now want is down right dumb. You are not going to get a player of his caliber in the 3rd or 4th. We just need to hope he cleans his act up a bit. What did people expect. this guy is a straight thug from Oakland Cal. I disagree with Trent, he is god awful.

As a tandem, Jackson and Lynch are good? Lynch didnt do anything this year. He proved that he shouldnt even be in this conversation. I do completely disagree that a 3-4th round pick would be down right dumb. You could get a starting OL'men (Levitre) calliber with that pick. Or a RB that doesnt have issues. The funny thing about it is that there isnt a single team in the NFL that would give us a 4th round pick for him. RB's can be had in the 4th round of the draft. And better ones than Lynch, and ones that dont come with baggage.

We are all arguing over nothing because at the rate Lynch has been going he will be suspended next season and most likely that would make this year his last in the league. If he is, he will be a backup and not a good one. Im calling it. Ill eat my crow if im wrong, but I wont be.

  10. With Lynch and Jackson we have the best backfield in the NFL.

When the OL protected even halfway decently for Trent we were lighting this league up.

Would you rather have Ray "I kill snitches" Lewis?

Lynch likes to have a little fun. So what?

Edwards + Lynch + Jackson + anyway decent OL = Long playoff run.

    :sick::doh::w00t::sick::lol::thumbdown:

You are what is wrong with this team. Thinking these things.

  11. Many of the big names on that list will most likely be resigned at least that I forsee but a few names came to mind when looking at this list that may actually be available.

QB (both have value as leaders and possible starters while a young rookie learns)

    Jake Delhomme

    Chad Pennington

RB (with Lynch hopefully cut because of his issues we will need depth behind Jackson)

    Mike Bell

    Edgerrin James

    Willie Parker

    Chester Taylor

    Leon Washington

    LenDale White

    Ricky Williams

WR (would depend of if the new coach resigns TO)

    Domenik Hixon

    Brandon Marshall

    Lance Moore

    Kevin Walter

TE (assuming the new coach doesnt like Fine or Schouman that much)

    Anthony Becht

Owen Daniels (only available because Demeco Ryans will ask for a ton)

    Bo Scaife

    Tony Scheffler

    LJ Smith

    Ben Watson

OT (I dont know how the olmen rank so sorry if there are others that are quality role players)

    Michael Roos

    IL (See OT)

    Artis Hicks

    Logan Mankins

    Chris Snee

DL (depends on Schobel and how the new coach views Maybin)

    Victor Adeyanju

    Ray Edwards

    Casey Hampton

    Tank Johnson

    Leonard Little

    Adewale Ogunleye

    Richard Seymour

    Will Smith

    Jason Taylor

    Kyle Vanden Bosch

    Vince Wilfork

LB (depends on how the new coach views our sub-par LB's)

    Tully Banta-Cain

    Keith Bulluck

    James Harrison

    Aaron Kampman

    Shawne Merriman

DeMeco Ryans (only available because Owen Daniels will ask for a ton)

    Lofa Tatupu

    CB

    Will D. Allen

    Will Blackmon

    Dre' Bly

    Leigh Bodden

    Fabian Washington

    Antoine Winfield

  12. He has had one bad year his short career so far and fans act like he is a complete bust who has done nothing. He has been to the Pro Bowl and the fastest Bill to reach 2,000 yards in his career. You don't think a team would give a 2nd for that?

Mediocre RB's are a dime a dozen, and ones with on and off the field problems can be had for a case of Coors. Nobody will give even a 4th for Lynch. Which is why it is best to keep him. He may have value as a FB at some point in his horrible career.

  13. Right they had the #1 rushing this year. Big deal. I want a potent offense. #1 in rushing and #17 in scoring doesnt impress me that much.

Besides, you can spin it anyway you want but the JEts made the playoffs with the #1 defense in yds allowed and pts allowed. That has more to do with it than B shotts 20th ranked Offense.

I mean are you people really saying its all B shott not the #1 defense ?

Im just saying I think hes more attractive than some of the other candidates we could pick.

My#1 is Marty (possibly with B- Shott as OC)

    2nd is Harbaugh

    3rd is B- Shott

4th is Cowher. Only lower on the list because he obviously doesnt want to be here and because it would cost us a S*&T ton to get him. Then you have to dedicate another 10+m/yr to his assistants. After paying 20-25m/yr to coaches where are we going to come up with money for free agents that he would want. Then you have to think ticket prices go up by 50% within 3 years. Im not saying I wouldnt be ok with Cowher, or happy we had him, but there are reasons he should be down on our lists.

  14. Yes they were #1 in rushing this year and won a playoff game. but one playoff game isnt exactly the EXP im looking for.

PS- the JEts were 9th in 2008 and 19th in 2007 in rushing since he took over. NOT #1

the passing attack was even worse.

Beware of the one year wonder.

    They were #1 this year.

Id like someone to do the leg work and rank them total over the last 3 years. Prolly pretty high. Not #1 I imagine, but up near the top.

  15. Dear Buffalo Bills and Bills Fans Worldwide:

(forgive me if this is a bit long)

I've been watching the Bills since I was 9 years old back in 1988. I have followed them through thick and thin. I can honestly say that if the Bills hire Leslie Frazier or another up and comming coordinator to be the head coach instead of doing whatever it takes to get a proven leader in here, than I am done with this organization. You will have to prove to me that this team is worth MY TIME instead of the other way around.

I do not take this decision lightly, nor do I go off spouting idle threats or feeling sorry for myself or other fans. This decision is based in common sense and logic. It has been a long time dream of mine to watch the Bills win a Superbowl standing next to my father as we celebrate together. But the older he gets, and this franchise becomes more of a joke, the time invested seems like a complete waste. The older I get, and more responsibilities I take on, I find myself having less and less time to commit to passions of my youth. All of my time has become a premium that must be divided among my family, firends, work, clients, and just living life. The older I get and more responsibilities I have as a husband, a son, a future father, and a business owner leaves me less and less time everyday for personal activiites like watching the Bills. The fact that my free time is decreasing everyday, every minute becomes more and more important and I have less and less of it to waste on an organization that is not commited to their fans.

The fact that this organization has lost for years is not what really depresses me, the idea that this team has become a joke, and the management will cease to do anything to correct it is what really concerns me. It should be TRAVESTY to this organization that qualified coaches are not jumping at that chance to captain this ship. The idea that the front office has bought into the idea that being the head coach of the Buffalo Bills is a second rate job is not only stunning and dissapointing, but also unbelievably disrespectful to the fans and the enitre region of Western New York.

This organization has shown zero commitment to make this franchise better for the people who have dedicated enormous amounts of their time, energy and money to it. This organization hired an inside candidate to take the GM position without even looking outside the organization, when the enitre NFL universe knows that the entire organization is completely dysfunctional, full of "yes men" and incompentant. This organization has ruined and injured countless promising players and ended careers prematurly due to the desire to not pay for competent help when players have been injured, thus leaving the players they actually do care about exposed to depending on teammates who are not skilled enough to proetect them. This organization has let pride and ego get in the way of winning, running some of the best football minds in the business out the door over petty arguements and personal vendettas. This organization has managed to turn what used to be one of the best blue collar franchises in American Sports history into a depressed joke of franchise that has become a punch line waiting to be put out of it's misery.

Medicority is not tollerated in my business, or in my life, and will not be tolerated by the franchises I chose to spend my very valuable time and money on. This is it Bills, start making some serious moves to make this organization better or start losing fans.

I encourage all Bills fans to hear this letter and demand today that the Bills truly commit to becoming a winning organization that we can be proud of. It is D-DAY in Bills Nation and the organization needs to hear our plea. Get to fixing these problems or dare I say it......... get the hell out of Wetsern New York and let us get on with our lives

WAAAAAA!!!! Cry me a river. Make sure you take the right bus out of town:

  16. I think his coaching W-L record is nothing to write home about.

    1999 8-8

    2000 12-4

    2001 10-6

    2002 7-9

    2003 10-6

    2004 9-7

    2005 6-10

    2006 13-3

    2007 5-11

    Over all: 80-64 .556

    Yes...his coaching record is better than Dick Jauron's - but who's isn't?

I would rather take my chances on a guy that has not coached - and roll my dice that we have the next best "new guy!

Just throwing some names and their records out there. You can say what you want about Billick but his record is similar to these HOF coaches if your talking about winning%

    Earle (Greasy) Neale- .588

    Invented the 4-3 Defense

    Jimmy Conzelman- .517

    Owner/Player/Coach

    Hank Stram- .575

    1 Super Bowl win

    Steve Owen- .550

1927 Championship team allowed less only 20 points entire season (13 games)

    Marv Levy- .562

    Lost 4 consecutive Super Bowls

  17. Have you been arrested 5 times in your life? I know I haven't. It is too bad the guy died but lets not make him into something that he was not.

As a society when someone famous dies, we tend to idiolize them & make them into something great. We did it with Michael Jackson, funny when he died I did not hear one mention of how he was a pedophile & such. We did it when Tiger Woods dad died, all we heard how he was such a great father & inspiration to Woods. What we did not hear is how he basically abondoned his other three kids, not even acknowledging their existence. Yeah he is a great father alright.

There are heroes in this world everyday Cincy, I do not care what they do on the field, most football players are not heroes.

Not all of his arrests are so harmless but a drunk driving incodent and another for pot is almost harmless. I would guess that 25% or more on this message board have been arrested for that. And I would guess that 90%+ have a very good friend/family member that has been arrested for that as well.

No one was idolizing Chris Henry, we are simply stating it is sad that he passed away in a tragic way. It also does not mean that we dont feel sad when war heroes, politicians, actors or your everyday average joe's pass away tragically, and untimely. Just an FYI he was getting his life back on track and many others saw that including his teamates, owners, coaches, and multiple reporters and talk show hosts. I remember hearing an interview with Chris on Jim Rome earlier in the season or before it (cant remember) and it was great to hear the good things he was doing with his life to turn things around. I understand if this was a low life drug dealer shot in a deal, or while performing an illegal act. But this was not (as far as we know). I personally think its sad, if anything for the thought he was trying to better himself for him and his family. It could have been one of the true success stories of change. None of us is w/o skeletons in our closet. And not everyone was born with a silver spoon in our mouths. He was trying to fix that.

    Im done

    RIP Chris Henry

  18. It certainly would be nice, but I really don't think you are going to see Wood in the lineup on opening day, if at all next season. Let's hope me makes a quick recovery, but it was a pretty bad injury.

I havent seen any update on Wood at all. Does anyone know if there was ligament or tendon damage? If it was just a broken bone the thought of him being in the lineup for opening day are much, much higher.

  19. I believe the only way Ralph could do this w/o getting hit with the taxes is if he died. He cannot transfer to anyone under this. It only works if he passes. However, I do believe there is/will be something that comes out behind the scenes after Ralph passes and we magically see the team stay in Buffalo. I wouldnt be suprised if Ralph has found some kind of loophole to keep the team here. But as we all know that couldnt be brought out at this time or it wouldnt be a loophole would it.

  20. If it wasnt for POZ being so much of a bust I dare say that Mitchell is the biggest disappointment on the defense. He is a long haired POS that needs to shut his F*$KING mouth and play. Just like POZ, he is always being driven backwards on running plays and out of place on passing plays. Its funny that our LB's are better w/o him on the field. I pray to God, Allah, Buddha, Confucius, Judea, Kami and John Stamos that this dumb idiot gets cut the minute we get a new coach. And then he can have all day to himself to twitter like a little teenage girl who just lost her virginity.
