Ask McD and Brady. They rarely used Johnson--even as a Breather for Cook (going with Murray instead). Or ask the Jets--they dumped him the season before (at a whopping 5.3 YPC!!). Or Detroit.... Johnson's yards per carry are from samples sizes so small that they are mostly meaningless. The fact that he averaged 22 inches more per carry than Murray doesn't move the needle. Clearly it didn't warrant more touches, and it hasn't throughout his career. This guy has been on a few bad RB rosters---and he still couldn't separate himself from the pack in the RB room. I get it--he's a cheap guy to send in for 3 plays a game to give Cook a rest. That's all he's ever been.

lol name 1 he's on his 3rd team in 5 seasons and has never had 275 yards rushing. In Detroit, he couldn't beat out Bo Scarborough for the RB@. In NYJ, he couldn't beat out Tevin Coleman or Zonovan Knight---and those were bad rushing Offenses, the bar was low.

It really wasn't much: 132 yards rushing and 88 receiving. Wouldn't it have been better to spread those touches (3-4 per game for Johnson) amongst Murray and Cook? Bills drafted Singletary and Moss and ultimately let them go because they didn't want to pay them second contract money down the road for what they were getting (the Bills got Hines for Moss--oof). They replaced these two, ultimately, with Murray and Johnson--the former an ancient journeyman, the latter a career journeyman scrub.

you can't build a roster by cycling bottom tier/end of career guys who are gone after contributing little for 1 or 2 years....over and over. Knox isn't progressing at this point. Kincaid could be a stud---if Brady would send him for other than 4 yard sideline dump offs. Shakir may be decent as a 3. Davis (he only split time with Brown for a year and Crowder for a year) took a beating on this board, but nearly all of his catches in 4 years were 1st downs or TDs. Now he's gone and the Bills will have to draft his replacement as none of the guys they have brought in are anywhere close to that. It's 2024. Other than the Diggs trade forever ago (and to say he's lost a step is to say Death Valley is really hot), what do the Bills have to show for all of these transient moves at WR?

The Bills will be better in 2024 and everyone overreacted

Why do you feel you have special insight that the entirety of "national media" doesn't have? Why is the fact that the Bills have inexperienced young/energetic (according to the "media"--would that be "the national media"? lol) a benefit? Elam made "a" big play. Otherwise, it seems McD thinks little of this kid. Milano tore his ACL and broke his leg. What in your experience allows you to conclude that combination of injuries "does not linger"? -
The long list is this: Benjamin, Kerley, Andre Holmes, Deonte Thompson, Robert Foster, McKenzie, Terrell Pryor (lol), Duke Williams, Kumerow, Emanuel Sanders, Crowder, Brown/Beasley (again!!), Tanner Gentry, Harty, Sherfield.... It isn't about how much money was NOT spend on these guys (they are all bottom salary feeders anywhere)--it's that with a roster really in need of WR help perennially, this is the parade that briefly passed through the locker room. They were low/zero impact signings who were usually quickly dumped.. Beasley and Brown were solid pickups. Beasley/Brown 2.0 midseason was beyond bizarre--a desperation move by a GM still struggling to find ball catching weapons. Now it seems the Bills are going all in on the draft , hoping for a hit at WR, to solve this serious and chronic gap.

Diggs - will he resurface as the Bills go to WR in 2024?
Mr. WEO replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Except he's not suddenly or always double covered. He simply disappears in elimination games. Look at his playoff losses: 2015 (vs Seattle): 4 catches for 26 yards 2017 (Philly): 8 for 70 2019 (SFO): 2 for 57 2020 (KC): 6 for 77 2021 (KC): 3 for 7 (yards) 2022 (Cincy): 4 for 35 2023 (KC) 3 for 21 1 TD, 293 yards, 51% catch rate over 7 elimination games. Compare that to 616 yards for the other 7 playoff games he has appeared in. -
Diggs - will he resurface as the Bills go to WR in 2024?
Mr. WEO replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The biggest game every year is the final game. And in elimination games, he's not "crazy to win"....he's terrible, throughout his career. -
You are conflating a discussion of why he came to Buffalo with one of why he took his recent deal (because "he's betting on himself").
-
we are discussing the fact that he’s not betting on himself

that's nice. see Happy Days and GunnerB above for more info....
