"totally off the books" ?? ....... is not the way i look at it. anything under the heading "DEAD CAP" is on your books. it's money deducted from your total cap for players not on your team. you can't use it . it counts against you. diggs current DEAD CAP for 2024 is $49.6 mil. sure if you designate "june 1" you can split that up over 2 season (2024 & 2025). wether its one or two seasons, it's too much. to me, it makes no sense to do that. his cap hit is $27.8 in 2024 and $27.3 in 2025 you would save very little money. the most likely scenario if you were inclined to part with diggs is AFTER the 2025 season. his dead cap would be $13.4

diggs isn't mr innocent in all of this. he knows anything other than the company line will create an umm...."distraction". yet he persists. but the teams hold most of the power. it's a ruthless cut throat business where you go from the penthouse to the outhouse in a blink. as i have previously mentioned, diggs has a clause in his contract where his 2024 salary fully guarantees 03/17/2024 (yesterday). i'm sure his agent was seeking clarity and beane was non committal. he hears from "sources" he's in play and may be moved. it's unsettling. diggs is an absolute elite stud. anyone who commands constant double teams is worth their weight in gold. unfortunately our WR2 was a complete failure on so many levels. that should change in 2024 with the additions of Samuel and hopefully pick #28. expect to see a motivated diggs prove his detractors wrong

shakir caught 86% of his targets.....he is very under rated Samuel caught 68% of his targets.....but yea, he's better than shakir it's true that wash primarily had samuel line up in the slot....but that was because of the other wash wr's. he can play the outside with ease hopefully the bills still use their first round pick on a future WR1. that puts samuel as the guy who moves all over. the only thing this offense would be missing is a true center. i'm not a fan of moving mcgovern over and replacing him with edwards.

Conversely a GM who felt he was on the hot seat might mortgage the future and trade away future picks to improve immediately. then you get into the speculative part where Hou may say Minn with a rookie QB will likely finish with a worse record in 2024 and that 42nd overall this year might become a 37th next year. theoretically Hou gave up a pick valued at 780 for picks valued at 900... that "could" go higher if minny struggles (of course they could go lower). Carolina traded the 10th overall to chicago and several picks that included a future #1 that turned into this years #1 overall because Car struggled with a rookie QB. Hou regime is confident. Minny regime lost cousins and is desperate to move up in draft to get a QB now. is last years #1 overall pick more valuable than this years #1 ? without the hindsight of knowing who was picked.....the answer to me is NO, they are equal.

at best beane moves up a few spots in first round any talk of going up to top 10 is fantasy i say he keeps his 1st & 2nd round picks. we dont have a 3rd. uses the rest to move up. this team badly needs a real Center and a DT3. then a safety & WR. the center & WR will be from rounds 1 & 2. the DT & S from 4th round or Free Agent

(only if some generational QB was avail in either) is next years #28 overall worth less than this years #28 ?.....i say no, they are equal lets say vikings move up to #5 whats stopping another qb needy team, say denver moving up to #4 ? thats why alot of these trades happen during the draft and not days/weeks ahead
