  1. What team is most likely to go from last place this year to first place next year ? In fact, in each of the past 11 seasons, at least one squad has gone from division chump to division champ. Buffalo is the 4th most likely team 4) Buffalo Bills The Bills have a very, very good defensive line -- they were second in the NFL with 57 sacks -- plus a good left tackle in Cordy Glenn and two solid running backs in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. I also expect quarterback EJ Manuel, who just finished an injury-marred rookie season, to take a step forward. Buffalo, which has the ninth overall pick in the draft, has a relatively easy road schedule on tap next season. I think the Bills have the potential to win more than they lose. Still, will they be able to elbow aside the New England Patriots in the AFC East? That's doubtful. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000308033/article/falcons-texans-lead-worsttofirst-candidates-for-2014-season
  2. i'm not here to irritate anyone.......i do believe strongly in the need of a Franchise QB above all else. it's a QB league, all the rules are geared towards QB's. until you have that you are spinning your wheels. i'm never nasty to anyone, but i will take a break.
  3. i know you are smart enough to know the difference between fact and opinion. i really don't think everyone needs to write out IN MY OPINION before making a post. FACT: in 2013, EJ is the 29th ranked QB by passer rating and 30th ranked by Toatal QBR in the league. OPINION: right now we have 1 mediocre with a little upside (EJ), 1 mediocre with no upside (thad) and 1 never will be mediocre (Tuel).
  4. yes..... thats part of the reason the bust rate is so high..... but it's the only way you have a shot at getting lucky........keep picking until you get it right. getting it right is when you have 2 outstanding QB's.......right now we have 1 mediocre with a little upside (EJ), 1 mediocre with no upside (thad) and 1 never will be mediocre (Tuel).
  5. we need someone BETTER than EJ........that will only likely happen in the first 3 rounds. EJ is the 29th ranked QB by passer rating and 30th ranked by Toatal QBR in the league. the only reason he is ranked so high is because half a dozen backups on other teams, who are better, aren't counted because not enough games played. i like EJ, but his upside is maybe cracking the Top 20.......that ain't good enough.
  6. 1. Zach Mettenberger, LSU Great arm to drive the ball down the field; has improved anticipation and a great release. Can play through punishment. 2. Derek Carr, Fresno State Quick release makes up for good but not great arm strength. He's highly productive and prepares with passion. 3. AJ McCarron, Alabama Proven leader and winner, has good arm strength and gives receivers a chance to make plays. Aided by elite talent around him. 4. Aaron Murray, Georgia Great competitor with accuracy into tight windows against top competition. Not the athlete some might want in a smaller QB. 5. Stephen Morris, Miami (Fla.) Very good arm strength, with a deep ball among the best at this level. Can be inconsistent with accuracy and decision-making. 6. Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech Has the size of a tight end and a very good arm. Elite measurables and raw talent, but way too susceptible to turnovers. 7. Tom Savage, Pittsburgh Big, physical, experienced QB with ability to drive the ball into windows. Rising prospect who could shine during draft process. 8. Tajh Boyd, Clemson Proven performer and leader with ability to make all the throws. Lacks height but moves well and has improved decision-making. 9. Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois Sleeper prospect putting up huge totals at Tony Romo U. Quick release, but not a big arm. 1. Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville Great poise and anticipation, has a good arm but uses great touch and accuracy. Could be the No. 1 pick. 2. *Marcus Mariota, Oregon Remarkable athlete, he'll draw comparisons to Colin Kaepernick. Not a lock to enter the draft just yet, but a top-5 pick if he does. 3. *Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M One of the all-time great playmakers and improvisers; lacks size but sees the entire field and is a killer on the move. 4. *Brett Hundley, UCLA Has an elite arm and has shown maturity beyond his years, with great footwork and poise. Could return to UCLA. 5. Bryce Petty, Baylor More than a system QB, he spreads the ball around -- underneath and on deep throws -- and makes smart decisions. 6. Braxton Miller, Ohio State Too reliant on his exceptional quickness and ability to escape and extend plays, he has a good arm but must anticipate better. 7. Sean Mannion, Oregon State Good length to see over the field and has had a highly productive season, although he has struggled against top competition. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2014/story/_/id/10001365/2014-nfl-draft-mel-kiper-updates-list-top-nfl-prospects-every-position
  7. my point here is that it doesn't take the #1 overall pick to find a Top QB. that the bills have neglected the QB position for so long that we only have one possible franchise QB in our system (EJ). that the QB position is significantly more important than any other position as far as winning games goes. that we need to continue to invest heavily in high draft choices going forward until we actually hit on a QB, because the chances of signing a top free agent QB are less than drafting one. i don't consider the 29th ranked QB a "good" rookie season (but this point is not worth debating). i guess the primary differences we have are two fold: #1- you see more "upside" in EJ going forward than i do. (i say at best, in a couple years, he ranks just inside of the Top 20, which isn't good enough) #2- you are willing to give EJ more "time" to prove his upside than i would. ( i would bring in a QB immediately, including using the 9th pick if a qb was there worth taking). i think the way EJ runs exposes his body to big hits which will result in repeat injury. he doesn't know how to get down to protect himself. i believe until you have your Franchise QB in place, you are completely wasting your time addressing other areas of need. also i would like to mention that i like EJ, i'm glad we drafted him, i'm cheering for him. i'm just not counting on him as my only option nor waiting for him to develop.
  8. 2013 OFFENSIVE LINE stats (we got worse): 2013 gave up the 4th MOST SACKS in the league (48). 2012 gave up the 23rd most (30) mostly because Fitz was smart enough to get rid of it. 2013 ranked 14th in rushing average yards/carry (4.2). 2012 we were ranked 4th (5.0) mostly because you replaced levitre with legursky. 2013 QB PASSING stats (we got worse): 2013 EJ Manuel Passer Rating ranked 29th. 2012 Ryan Fitzpatrick Passer Rating ranked 17th.
  9. season ending Top 10 QB highest Passer Rating: #1 - Nick Foles ( 3rd round) #2 - Peyton Manning (1st round, 1st overall) #3 - Josh McCown ( 3rd round) #4 - Philip Rivers (1st round, 4th overall) #5 - Aaron Rodgers (1st round, 24th overall) #6 - Drew Brees (2nd round) #7 - Russell Wilson (3rd round) #8 - Tony Romo (undrafted) #9 - Ben Roethlisberger (1st round, 11th overall) #10- Colin Kaepernick (2nd round) only 2 of 10 QB's were selected before the 9th overall pick. only 4 of 10 QB's were selected in 1st round. one of your points: Only two of those players have established themselves as bona fide quality NFL starters, Stafford and Newton. Both of those guys were taken first overall.
  10. if we added the best offensive lineman in the league.....we might get 1 more win next year. if we added the best QB in the league......we might get 5 more wins next year. EJ Manuel is NEVER going to be a Top 10 QB in this league. also, the way he runs, he will constantly be injured and miss games. so, what comes first, the chicken or the egg ?? if a QB who i thought was better than EJ is there at #9, i would pick the QB in a heartbeat. absent that, then the next best thing is to upgrade the O-line.
  11. Brett Hundley QB UCLA
  12. finished with: passing: 16/27 , 226 yards, 2 td, 0 int rushing: 10 carries, 161 yards, 2 td

  14. where i differ from OP Most Improved Player is Leodis McKelvin.......(runner up Cordy Glenn) Coach of Year is Pettine.....(runner up Henderson) Most disappointing is EJ Manuel.....(was not expecting the 29th ranked passer rating) runner up whoever played LG.
  15. i know Marrone was signed for 4 years.....but never could find out for how much. this site says he is one of the lowest paid Head Coaches in the NFL at $3 mil/yr http://coacheshotseat.com/NFLCoachesSalaries.htm
  16. the Gestation Period for a Buffalo Bills Championship run is every 25 years. 1964, 1965, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993.........2018

  22. we are going to evaluate everything.... leave all options on the table....... going to have a thorough organizational meeting..... will provide every resource needed...... I WANT TO PUKE !!
  23. Kyle Williams is a STUD.....multiple pro bowler. your worthless comment is laughable. this is a team game and the fact that our rank vs the run sucks doesn't mean all 11 players suck.
  24. if the goal is to get more wins.......then the order of importance is: #1- FRANCHISE QB (if we had a Top 10 QB we would have 5 more wins , EJ will never be a franchise QB) #2- LG (upgrade the O-line, draft a LT and play him at RT, move pears to LG) #3- DT ( NEED NOSE TACKLE TO STOP THE RUN !!!) #4- TE (weakest position on team) #5- MLB (need to stop the run, move kiko to OLB)
