  1. I don't think we can beat teams like the patriots, packers or giants with an offensive attitude like this. Our offense needs to be able to put points on the board and our quaterback definitely needs to be able to lead a game winning drive and come up big with clutch throws. what you described is a quaterback who "manages" the game and cannot carry a team. QBs that carry a team are the QBs that win superbowl. The days of Trent Dilfer are looking further and further away.
  2. I'm not sure what numbers you're looking at to determine this.. you can't look at our offense vs their offense because we're trying to determine the reason why they're offense is better. Why don't you look at Plaxico's #'s before and after Eli.. thats a good place to start.
  3. So he had a head case in Plaxico. A legit #1 in Nicks. An undrafted guy in Cruz. And a mediocre receiver in Manningham. I'm not sure if you remember the Tyree catch correctly.. Eli broke a tackle, escaped the pocket and hit Tyree in the head with the ball. All on 4th down. Fitz has Lee, Stevie, and Nelson. Not sure its that much of a drop off.
  4. Haha sorry.. its so easy to nitpick in the offseason Well that brings up the argument.. did those receivers make Eli, or did Eli make those receivers?
  5. Well I guess my issue was with how you painted Eli as a QB playing within his means and system. I think Eli has proven that he is a top echelon QB. He isn't a system QB who only wins because he hands the ball off, makes safe throws and lets the defense keep them in games. Eli is one of the most mentally and physically gifted QBs in the league.. I'm not sure you can say the same about Fitz.
  6. I think its unfair to Eli to compare Fitz to him.. Fitz was drafted 1 year after him and has accomplished nothing compared to the giant QB.
  7. I personally think he does have to be. As much hype as there is about our defense, they haven't proven anything on the field. I find it hard to assume they're going to be a top 5 overall defense right off the bat. Our offense has some good pieces but we really are still missing a solid LT (expect glenn to struggle in spots as a rookie) and a #2 WR. Fitz is going to have to play like a top 5 QB at some point if this team is going to win a SB.
  8. I would be content.. this team should be 4-3 at the bye. I'd be happy if we won any more than that.
  9. This is the question that will determine the bills success in 2012. I'm surprised it isn't # 1. We've heard nothing but good news as far as Fitz changing his mechanics and working with coach Lee. The fact that he was injured in the second half last year makes it a little easier to swallow last years collapse. But the fact is, he's still Fitz. He's a journeyman QB who is now being asked to make the playoffs and bring this team to the promised land. Can Fitz be that guy? I'm not sure...
  10. I'm definitely with both of you guys.. there's nothing like a stadium experience. I went to my first bills game in buffalo last year against the pats and it really couldn't have been any sweeter. If it was more affordable and closer (I'm in massachusetts) I would definitely go to every game.
  11. You make some good points, but i think part of the reason why some people dont go to NFL games is because of the lack of comfort and technology. When I'm watching football at home, i'm keeping track of my fantasy team on my computer, flipping between games during commercials, and constantly checking the stats of the bills when they're playing. I'm sure some fans like the "at home" experience more than the "stadium" experience because of the luxury of technology.
  12. Columbine, Colorado The Columbine Gu... wait is it too soon for this?
  13. Woot woot! Let the games begin!
  14. Is he the highest paid player or the highest paid defensive player?
  15. Does Wilson even play on special teams? Not sure how he can be a ST captain if he doesnt..
  16. Yea I thought the same thing.. didnt he play after that and get hurt on this play?
  17. In 2011, the bills selected 6 captains: Offense: Ryan Fizpatrick, Fred Jackson Defense: Kyle Williams, Andra Davis Special teams: Brian Moorman, George Wilson Question for 2012: Who should be the captains? I've got... Fitz, Freddy, Kyle, Wilson, Moorman, Mcintyre
  18. I think the argument starts and ends at.. HE SHOT HIMSELF IN THE LEG
  19. Or 10 minutes of the overtime game from 1 o'clock that wont get cut off by the local broadcast!
  20. I would love to see scenario 2 happen.. and see all these vince young haters flip like a switch.
  21. I'm still pretty worried about our run defense.. but i'm hoping Wanny's 4-3 will solve that problem.
  22. I guess time will tell with Percy Harvin. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on him after this debate.
  23. Wins. Thats all I really care about!
  24. Well I think we can agree that Harvin probably isn't a reasonable person and probably isn't particular smart either. I agree that getting into a heated argument with a coach isn't a great thing to be doing. But if its for the right reasons and it doesn't escalate beyond that then I'm not going to crucify a guy for it. I know you probably aren't going to agree with me at all, but I think the guy has shown some movement in the right direction. I know you have the opinion that the vikings could be sweeping some Harvin issues under the rug, but if he was fighting with coaches or sitting out practices, those kinds of things would make it to the public. If he's had any issues, then they must have been minor. So since the combine we've got: "Missing OTAs" - because of the flu... are you really going to try to spin that into a work ethic problem? The "heated argument" - which showed he was sticking up for a teammate and his temper flared. The "faking injury" - where he had gotten injured in the previous game and had just had an argument with the coach accusing him The "unhappy situation" - where he calmly told the media he was unhappy with his role on the team and requested a trade. But he was back at practice the next day and worked out with his team. I know you're going to say that the vikings told him he could have whatever he wanted, and that may be true. All that means is that he voiced a concern, they gave him reassurances, and everyone is happy now. He may have medical problems and he might not be the brightest guy. But he's been a good teammate with a few minor issues since coming into the league. If the biggest problems I have to deal with are him adamantly sticking up for teammates and publicly voicing his desire to be more involved in the offense, then I think his talent is worth having on my football team.
  25. Well I guess thats just where we disagree. You need to see an indication that he has changed. I take his lack of incidents for a sign that he has changed. Truth is, neither of us know whats going on in Harvin's head. To his credit, that heated argument with Childress was over cutting one of his teammates. Its hard to call that selfish, if anything he was being a good teammate. I think thats a tough one to tack on to his negative track record. Childress called him about for not being tough enough to play through an injury in practice. Thats really not a big deal. He was actually injured and players skip practices on friday all the time to get healthy for sunday.
