Wood-Levitre-Hangartner-Incognito-McKinney. We should have three solid starters and one quality backup out of these five players. This is one area where the Bills are probably OK.
-
Because Scott is better than him. If Scott could play against 2nd and 3rd stringers all the time, he'd look pretty good too.

Jim Haslett may be best choice for Bills HC.
vincec replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. -
I'll give them this: of the teams that needed to win to make the playoffs, they are the only one that is playing like it.
-
I hope that week keep both Whitner and Lynch. They may not be starters anymore, but until we have someone on the roster who is better why get rid of them? We have too many needs already and don't need to create depth problems at safety and running back.

What Bills Won't Be on Team Next Year?
vincec replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today he didn't even look like he could play against the Colt backups. He will definitely be gone. Too bad he failed his physical or we would've actually stolen a draft pick for him... -

Can you imagine TBD the day that happens? -
He will leave skid marks out of here if there is a remotely decent offer from a contender. He only has a couple of years left and I'm sure he wants to play somewhere where he has a shot at a championship. That being said, if there isn't interest from a strong team the Bills should seriously think about trying to sign him to a two year deal. The drop off between him and Hardy/Johnson is pretty steep.

What will Jerry Sullivan whine about?
vincec replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's basically no different than any of the posters on this board. He is moderately informed and typically negative. He doesn't really do much reporting so if you read TBD, there's no need to read anything by Sullivan. -
I've gotta be missing something here. I mean, I'm stupid,
vincec replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree 100%, but then again I'd be playing for the perfect season if I was the Colts too. To paraphrase John Madden, if there's a game to play then there's one way to play it: to win. -
Brian Billick to interview for head coaching job

My question as well. Seems like a strange hire after what Nix said at the press conference. Did he really develop anybody on the offensive side of the ball? Just wondering. -
Did Mike Leach really find it necessary
vincec replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see how being forced to stand in the tool shed, in the dark, by your self teaches you about teamwork or helps you learn about your playing abilities. People in authority that try and teach their charges "lessons" through intimidation should realize that the only lesson that teaches is that the person with the power makes the rules. -

He was trying to teach him that when you have power over another individual, you can humiliate them at your leisure if they displease you... an important life lesson. -

If you listen to Leech's attorney, he was actually doing James a favor by helping to keep him in a cool, dark place with a trainer standing outside on stand by in case he needed some ice water or cocktails or something. Yeah, right... and OJ was not in good enough shape to commit the crime... If you take a player person and lock him alone in a windowless room, where he has to stand for several hours because you don't like his attitude, then that's inappropriate. When you basically tell your employer to f*** off when they come to you and say they want to investigate allegations of impropriety, and then try to get a restraining order against them after they suspend you for the investigation, they you get fired... as you should. If Leech were a true disciplinarian, they he should've respected the authority of the school athletic director in their interactions with him. -
transitioning from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4
vincec replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
... like the Vikings play this year. I can see that, but I still like having the DTs penetrate. As a former interior lineman, I hated nothing more than quick DTs who were good at getting penetration. However, this means that the LBs need to be bigger and more physical so that they can take on free blockers. Enough small LBs. -

You mean parents that don't want their kids locked in electrical closets for having a concussion? Yes, I know lots and lots of them... -
Maybe I am, but for some reason I always liked the guy...

Following the Shottenheimer coaching tree, I see the following guys: 1. Bill Cowher 2. Herm Edwards 3. Jack Del Rio 4. Jim Haslet 5. Russ Grimm John Fox is off of the Chuck Noll Tree (like Dungy)

Nix said all the right things at his press conference and in his interview. That's nice. Talk is cheap. Now we'll see if he can really get the job done. Step 1: find a head coach.

I doubt that Rivers would play well behind Buffalo's OL. He is not mobile and the strength of his game is his arm strength and downfield passing accuracy, both of which are of limited use if you have to dump everything off immediately due to the pass rush. Maybe someone like Kurt Warner or Drew Brees could look good here.

Turk Schonert on Sirius right now live

Who cares how complex an offense is? The only thing that matters is how many points they score. Look at the Chargers offense, it's pretty simple and they're scoring like crazy. Marv once said that good teams do the ordinary things extraordinarily well, not extraordinary things ordinarily well. -
I don't think that this is true. The PSLs were sold when the stadium was built to help with funding (no public funds were used in construction) and in order to keep your PSL you need to buy season tickets every season. No one forfeits their investment of several thousand dollars in a PSL by not buying season tickets. They sometimes try to sell off the PSL or the tickets for financial reasons and many times people just don't show up at the games (especially in the PSL seats that are corporately owned), but the seat has been sold and the Panthers have the money. The few single seat tickets that are not tied to PSLs were sold in a few days before the season started. Basically, although the stadium may not look full on TV, the seats have been sold.

Positive comments about the Buffalo Bills
vincec replied to BillsfaninFl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Defensive secondary is outstanding and very deep. They lead the league in interceptions and held Brady to one of his worst passing games ever a few weeks ago. This is being done with McKelvin out for the season and Byrd, Florence and Whitner all banged up a missing time. Imagine if they could stop the run and force teams into more third and long situations or if they had more than one player who can rush the QB.
