What's wrong with the Pats Defense? Plenty
bobobonators replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Give me a break thats sports. Who roots for former players to succeed on a rival team. Maybe my wife does. You want me to root for Mike G to make the pro bowl? I hope they all fall flat on their faces. Im sure Boston fans were rooting for Clemens to win on the Yankees. -

Ill bet anything the Pats arent winning 14 games this season. Ill set my watch to 11-13, leaning towards 12. -

Several people downplay this loss and bring up the 2014 Dolphins game. That 2014 game was on the road for the Pats against a divisional opponent. Divisional games can be tricky; and a divisional opponents home opener can be really tricky. The Pats just got trounced in their home opener vs a non-divisional opponent that had never won a game at Gillette Stadium and had lost something like five of their last seven games to the Pats. The Pats got embarrassed. -

Yup, i thought that was a good point by CC. What happened last year, 3yrs ago, or 10yrs ago doesnt matter in the NFL. Its a new team. Pats had a lot of turnover due to injuries/roster decisions. Just bc players responded to adversity 3 years ago doesnt mean the new group of players will. -

We'll just agree to disagree. I hope they suck. But they wont. Too luch leadership on that team. Too much quality coaching. They have a system in KC that has worked for 4+ seasons now. They have talented young players in Ford, Peters, Hill, and now Hunt. They have great/good players in Houston and Alex Smith and Kelce. I think people view their playoff performances and disregard the team as a whole. Lastly to be clear, im not saying the Chiefs are amazing and are going to go 14-2. But they are a top 6-7 team in AFC no doubt. -

So youre saying them going 12-4 was a fluke last yr? I dont understand your argument. When you dont see wins on their schedule are you thinking theyre going to go 6-10? Or are you talking 9-7? In another thread here i stated that the Chiefs are a lock for 9-7 or 10-6 this year (taking into account their tough division). 1-0 right now when everyone had them 0-1. They're most likely going to split (at worst) vs broncos and chargers. 2 more wins. At worst theyll split the eagles/skins which are both in their house. 1 more win. I say they split the Oakand series. 1 more win. They play us at home. 1 more win. They play the Jets. 1 more win. They play miami at home. 1 more win. They will win one of games either vs Dallas, Houston, Pitt. 1 more win. Me being completely conservative, worst case they go 9-7. I just dont get how you can say you dont see wins on their schedule. -

Lmao. They have a top 5 winning % in the NFL over the last 4 years and you have a hard time seeing wins on their schedule? This, after they just humiliated the Pats in their own stadium. They swept the Raiders last season. -

Im confused. Do the Chiefs stink or are they really good? Ill gladly bump the numerous threads on here where people constantly poke fun at the Chiefs saying theyre overrated; making fun of Andy Reid; Or how Mahomes shouldve been named starter after 20 passes in preseason. -
So how much did Gillislee help the Pats*** last night?
bobobonators replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
pretty much. maybe on only 1 of those TD's could you say he actually did anything by getting the extra push to cross the goal line. Mike G wasn't breaking 40, 50, 60yd runs last night for TD's. But I guess that's the inner ex-girlfriend in me. -

Haha. This same Pats defense, minus Hightower, is going to NOLA next weekend. Good luck! -

I actually wondered if he injured himself on that TD catch; he appeared to get up either winded or lame somehow..anyway, injuries have wrecked his career. -

I don't disagree. I don't think anyone is saying they don't have a chance. They aren't going 4-12; 6-10; or 8-8. But that offense has major injuries. Gronk isn't 23 anymore; and that defense may literally have the least amount of talent of any BB defense in the last decade. Of course they have a chance, but this is 2017 and anything prior to now is irrelevant in the NFL. -

Who cares about 2, 3, 5, or 10yrs ago? How many players on that Defense were on the Pats 3 years ago? Maybe 3? How many skill players on that offense were on the pats 3 years ago? 2? maybe 3? -

I disagree. No one on that D looked amazing. They gave up 42 points at home to an average, to above average Chiefs offense. Good thing this is no longer 2014, correct? -

While I don't believe the Pats are going to go 8-8. This defense is clearly very slow and lacks overall talent. The Hightower injury really hurts them too. They literally have no one on the Dline that scares you, and they may arguably have the worst LB grouping in the entire NFL. You can improve scheme execution, but you can't improve speed; and boy are they slow. That offense at some point will begin to click a little more I suppose, but injuries are going to hurt them big time. Anyone else notice Gronk was essentially a non factor? Even in his half-assed attempt to spike the ball after that TD that was called back, he looked like half the player he was 5yrs ago. Again, I'm not saying they're going 8-8 any time soon, but man oh man between injuries on O, lack of talent on D, that Pats team looks quite vulnerable RIGHT NOW (i don't care about how they came back 10yrs ago). -

I was personally surprised that they didn't QB sneak on one of those two short conversions. Brady's conversion rate on those is pretty damn good. Never understood why teams prefer having a RB start from 8yds back from LOS to gain half a yard when the QB is right there and can just fall forward; especially a QB as big as Brady. -

In the end, nobody helped the Pats last night. They were almost 10 point favorites at home and got their asses handed to them. Mike G, Branch, Gilmore, Hogan. None of them did enough to win. 95% of RB's could've scored the TD's that MikeG scored yesterday; he was a non factor overall. -
It may have been McCourty. Nevertheless, it looked good seeing Gilmore run like a clown.
