  1. The last line of the article says the Bills can compete with the rest of the division if the right moves are made. We all know better don't we? It's going to take more than a DE to turn this around, regardless of how much praise he gets.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I don't know that Gonzalez would have been the saving grace for this team. I don't think Turk could have probably used him or anyone else to their potential. You are right, Fine may be a good tight end. I haven't been real impressed with Schouman, but that may be because of the system not the player. Right now I just don't know...I look at the situation and think maybe he could have helped. But there were a lot of variables, i.e. Trent's injuries, JP sucking, bad play calling and execution, to name a few, so really there is no way of knowing if he would have helped or not. I believe when Fine was drafted he was intended to be the pass catching tight end that we all seek, wasn't he? Within the confines of our offensive system that type of player not exist.
  3. With regards to the lack of a dominate pass rush, I'm speaking only of offense. I just feel that the receivers would have gotten more open looks because a real pass catching threat at tight end would require their attention. I think we needed all the help we could get on offense and a real TE would have been a major help.
  4. It's hard to put a number of wins on his presence, but I definitely think he would have made a difference. He requires the defense to pay attention to him. Defenders know that if they get anywhere close to Royal he won't make the catch and if they actually put a hit on him he will drop the ball. With a solid running game to end the season, Steve Johnson starting to come around, and Josh Reed grabbing just about everything in his area, I believe Gonzalez would have had a big impact on this team.
  5. And Pacman Jones has been released. For all of you that want a star with attitude and a bad boy demeanor, here is your chance. I still don't get it, why they have to be idiots to play well, but there seem to be plenty of people on here that believe that to be the case.
  6. In an earlier post I also said that this team is well on it's way to having the same issues as the other teams, so I guess we will see soon enough if character plays much of a role or if it's something more skilled, like our scouting and grading of these players.
  7. I may be wrong about them now, I guess it's the reputation I'm thinking of.
  8. I'm pretty sure if anyone is looking for a team of degenerates, the Raiders, Bengals, Cowboys, any number of teams would be glad to accept new fans. I understand we all want the same thing here, a winning team, but do we have to sell our souls to do it?
  9. Oh yeah, his irrelevance this year made me forget. Like I said, they are trying.
  10. Our guys are trying aren't they? Talk about ego maniacs---Ko could qualify after his statement of being worth millions. And we have a running back that goes Beastmode in his suv and then leaves the scene. Don't worry all you that want a team of thugs, our boys are well on their way. I've read it time and time again on here about stop living in the past, but how many of our Super Bowl teams were filled with thugs and ego driven stars? I will keep pointing to Dallas, egos and thugs don't guarantee wins. I like the good guys even if they do text their coach for support.
  11. It's always easier to point to something like the coach or quarterback, but if they look deeper it is a very real thing. I understand all teams have injuries, but not all teams have them year after year. Besides that, it's not even injuries so much as just not being ready to play 16 games. It may stem from the top, but something should be done with the strength and conditioning program. As for the ridicule, that seems to be all some of these posters look to do, it is just easier than actual thought process.
  12. Williams and Mularkey have enjoyed reasonable success as coordinators since leaving. Mularkey is still working this week, with a good shot at moving to the next round. Williams didn't do anything spectacular in Washington, but he has always had stout defenses. Even Wade Phillips was doing well as a coordinator in San Diego, before trying to coach the NFC's version of the Bills in Dallas.
  13. This could be as important as the free agent signings we may do. Our guys can't make it through a season anymore without major injury or even just being worn out and tired.
  14. I don't think there is any doubt about that. Our O-line is over paid and extremely under talented...including our All Pro left tackle that will probably hold out again. And that is my major knock on Jauron, he focuses on DB's so much that he doesn't give near enough attention to the O line. (there are a few other knocks too, but that's one)
  15. I'm with you. I still don't think Jauron is the only thing that made the Bills falter this year. I don't know if he is the answer either though. I'm just not for constant upheaval of the system. The best teams, over an extended period of time, have continuity in their staff. If nothing changes next season, then get rid of him. BTW, he does have his work cut out for him next year too. Better teams on the schedule, and it looks like better coaching in the division. I would like to see Jauron with a season without major, key player multi-game injuries.
  16. On a serious note, how about how he doesn't throw any of his staff, players or coaches, under the bus? I realize this was a really really really bad season, since we all had our hopes up, but having the former Bills QB, JP in the game so many times didn't help. I just don't think Jauron is fully to blame. Now having said that, with his style of drafting, another positive is that we should never have a shortage of defensive backs.
  17. Was he really that bad, given the circumstances? I thought he did pretty well. He had accuracy on most passes and played well, I think, once the coaches finally gave him an opportunity. He can't help bad play calling.
  18. At least the Seahawks were only down one WR at the time we played them. They did have a Super Bowl QB and the rest of the team. The Raiders are streaky, you never know how they will play. They can be good, they can be terrible. The Rams, they are bad. Maybe we should be happy though, that we didn't play the Lions. What's worse, being an 0-16 team or being the one team that a 1-15 team can beat? Of course, by record alone, 0-16 is worse, but from a fan's perspective?
  19. This is the part that gets me. I'm still amazed at how bad this team can look against a 3-4. Maybe his time on the bench helped him enough to get it together next week. At any rate, he did play well, and in the cold. I hope it snows next week and he plays well against a 3-4 and in the snow. It may offer a little hope at least.
  20. What happened to the guy that ran our stagnant, boring offense last year? His Rams put up 40 points, almost 300 yards on the ground and close to 600 total yards. Is it really just a lack of talent on our team, like Ralph said after the Miami game?
  21. Well, thank you to those that actually helped. These message boards just wouldn't be the same though if there wasn't a sarcastic ass to make someone else feel stupid.
