  1. Not sure Dean. I think a lot of it has to do with that he was a high draft pick during a regime that took power in the latter years of the current drought, claimed they were going to bring change, and never produced the results on the field. The "he's always sucked" comments are rightly ignored; they have zero basis in fact; it's a purely emotional argument that cannot, in any way whatsoever, be supported by any real data. As for yesterday, what a cluster NE's defense is looking like right now. I'm not a big Rodney Harrison fan (mostly because he's a proven cheater and nobody appears to care about that at all), but he's right when he says that there's clearly huge communication issues. I mean, just look at the Whittaker TD yesterday: Gilmore is calling out a zone swap when McCaffrey goes in motion, McCourty looks to be calling for a man-pass to Gilmore (but he ends up following McCaffrey anyway), and Kyle Van Noy seems to think he's got the motion back in man coverage as well. So I ask myself: how can 3 different guys think that 3 different things are going on in the same defense? Gilmore had a lousy game yesterday, but the above issues are systemic in nature.
  2. Yeah, it's been a problem for a few years. It's been talked about pretty consistently on this board; by far his biggest issue. Though IMO it's never kept him from being a very good player. It has, however, kept him from being the best he's capable of being.
  3. I hope he gets burned nonstop Seriously though, I think he's a very good corner that suffers from a lack of awareness on too many occasions. If you're asking him to do more than cover a man or an area of the field, he's going to have his limitations.
  4. McDermott really has this team overachieving and believing in themselves; it's wonderful to see
  5. I know it's a bit old school of me, but it's a nasty habit that I cannot seem to break
  6. Or folks can continue to call it right down the middle, sans agenda.
  7. His penalty on the final drive was brutal. Bad, bad football at a critical time. The play where he and McCourty both went with mccaffrey was like something out of necessary roughness
  8. That was a Whaley thing (Ross)
  9. It's Steamin' Willie Beamen, and it ain't close
  10. In general, if a guy's reflexes have come back to baseline he's probably going to pass. At least that's been my experience when tested.
  11. Last few:Garappolo Osweiler Garappolo Tarvaris Jackson
  12. FWIW, Gilmore never played in a pure man scheme. Schwartz played a lot of Cover-3 Rex's D played Cover 2/3/4/6 about 50% of the time They didn't keep him because of the money they'd have to commit. That he wasn't a great tackler probably contributed to the difference in valuation between the team and player.
  13. Nobody is forgetting that, it's been mentioned multiple times in this thread.
  14. Absolutely...I had my doubts about Gaines' ability to regain his 2014 form, but so far he's been very good.
  15. To be fair, Gaines lost his starting job opposite Trumaine Johnson to Kayvon Webster in an open competition, and didn't win the nickel job against former Bill Nickell Robey-Coleman. It was smart for them to deal from a position of strength, just as it was smart of Denver to deal Kayvon Webster when it was obvious that he wasn't going to get playing time in a secondary that already featured Talib/Harris/Roby
  16. He's been very good; couldn't possibly be any happier with his level of play coming from a rookie.
  17. The only reason that I don't have Jackson ranked at the moment is that I don't know if he'll declare (which I admit doesn't make a lot of sense given that I have Rosen and Darnold on there). Jackson, IMO, would probably slot right behind Rosen at 3 right now. His passing efficiency is greatly improved IMO, as he's getting the ball out quicker, more accurately, and with plenty of zip. He'll need to show me that he can speed up the process and operate from the pocket when pressure hits, but you're absolutely right that he belongs in the conversation.
  18. I guess I don't have a reason to be moved much from my original rankings: https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/193625-top-nfl-qb-prospects-for-2018/page-20?do=findComment&comment=4411661 I'll probably swap Allen and Rudolph though
  19. They're both on the 53 man roster. If Worthy were anywhere else, he'd be on IR or NFI, and wouldn't be eligible to return.
  20. There's always a lot of opposing fans here--we live very close to Canada, and there's probably 10 million football fans within driving distance--all of them follow different teams. It shouldn't surprise anyone when 20k or so wander down here for cheap entertainment.
  21. Not specific to last night's game, but I felt prior to the 2016 season that Palmer was done...and it sure has looked that way for the majority of games played since the 2016 opener, hasn't it?
  22. He's like most NFL head coaches--it gets really difficult when you don't have a QB

  24. They're pretty solid at the tackle and center spots, but Levitre is getting long in the tooth, and the RG position has been weak this season after Chris Chester retired. Wes Schweitzer--a 2nd-year converted OT from SJ State--has looked largely out of place in pass protection, and can be taken advantage of by quicker DTs. If Ryan Schraeder is out at RT, then Ty Sambrailo is a guy you can attack with your pass rush as well. Shaq would actually be a pretty good matchup against him since he's less speed and more power, and Sambrailo lacks the sand-in-his-pants prototypical RT build.
