  1. I’ll guess it’s Dawkins-Spain-Morse-Ford-Nsekhe
  2. So except for the Chargers, Rams, Bears, Colts, and Steelers he was “pretty spot on”? I get that nailing appreciably more than 50% of the playoff field isn’t a cake walk, but “pretty spot on except for the 42% he got wrong” is kind of weird to say. As to his de facto prediction, meh, go ahead and pick Miami. It’s gutsy and edgy; Buffalo is the trendy, mainstream pick. May as well be ahead of the curve. Doesn't make much sense though. They’re not close to Buffalo in terms of talent...yet. Another solid offseason and they will be.
  3. Yeah that didn’t go well... either did making French toast with the maple bread or challah. It has to be brioche.
  4. Most QBs look unstoppable when they have 11 seconds to throw. That’s why Alabama QBs have often looked like world beaters in college and gone nowhere in the pros. I like Tua, but “he’s unstoppable” is a bit much sans a single NFL snap as evidence.
  5. Game day breakfast will be brioche French toast and fall spice coffee. Prepping a brisket for pastrami sandwiches for game day eats. Will probably make some refrigerator pickles too. Maybe a beer/cheese soup as well.
  6. My favorite post in that thread is the guy that said the Bills were “basically going into the season as-is” from 2019 with no improvement. Right. Definitely didn’t add Diggs, 3 veteran defensive linemen, Josh Norman, or a former all-pro right tackle. Forget about the draft; I can abide not thinking that draft picks will be impactful this season, but at least pretend to have half a clue what’s going on with your divisional foes if you’re going to speak about it. For my part, I just don’t see how the Jets move the ball reliably against Buffalo. Crowder is a good slot man, but even with a whole mess of receptions in week 1 of 2019, it wasn’t enough to put together more than a single good drive. And aside from him, their WR group is unproven to state it kindly. They're going to have to rely on Bell and their revamped OL. I liked Fant quite a bit in FA, but he’s never really been a full time starter. And while I think Becton has ability, he’s going to have his hands full with Hughes and Addison. Moreover, if and when Buffalo is able to limit the impact of their run game, what’s the plan to move the ball through the air? Better be backs and the TE group, because Buffalo’s DBs have the obvious advantage in coverage. I do think that their DL can move the LOS, so Josh is going to have to make quick decisions. I also think that Diggs/Smoke/Beasley have a clear advantage over the Jets’ group of corners. They better be able to create pass rush, or it could be a long day.
  7. Yep. This is what I mean when I say there’s just so many ways things can go weird in week 1 of a normal year, so it almost has to be exaggerated this year. I think the advantage goes to the team that can prepare better, so that should be Buffalo...but you know what I say about “shoulds”.
  8. And then had 2 in the playoff game the following week, so the “garbage time” thing doesn’t really hold water. And it doesn’t really matter what I think; the HC and DC of the 2nd best scoring defense in the game thought he was good enough to be their DE1 last year, so it stands to reason that they’d think he’s good enough to be at least their DE3 this year.
  9. Pop quiz: Which 2019 Bills, DE... Finished 3rd on the team in sacks? Lead all DLmen in FFs? Lead all DLmen in FRs? Lead all DEs in solo tackles? Finished 3rd on the team in QB hits? Finished 2nd on the team in QB hurries? Finished 3rd on the team in QB pressures? Had 2 sacks on DeShaun Watson in the playoffs? Oh, and since you brought up his salary, Murphy is the 33rd highest paid DE in the NFL. He makes less than guys like Carl Nassib and Henry Anderson. Methinks your salary barometer could use an adjustment.
  10. I hadn’t seen that they planned to bring back Roberts; this pleases me. Perhaps Hodgins or Fromm go to IR with a bruised ego.
  11. They’re particularly short at safety with Neal listed as a corner. I’m shocked that they’ve kept 27 offense and 23 defense, but my guess is that Mongo goes to IR and they re-sign Marlowe as soon as they can. No reason to keep 10 OL when they can promote 2 from the PS on game day, and this way they can avoid Mongo ending up on season-ending IR.
  12. Yeah, you just don’t have a feel for what a team can throw at you so early in the season, so weird things can happen. I mean, I don’t expect anything other than a Bills victory in fairly convincing fashion, but I won’t be shocked or proclaiming DOOM if it doesn’t go down that way.
  13. I think this is clearly a game the Bills should win based on talent alone. That said, week 1 is always wildly unpredictable, so my confidence interval isn’t as high as it probably should be.
  14. Yeah, having Murphy lead the team in snaps at DE definitely hurt the league’s #2 scoring defense last year... ...wait... Never mind, it didn’t hurt. Actually, it probably helped. That’s probably why the HC and DC of one of the best defenses in the game decided to keep him at what is not close to a big contract for a DE.
  15. Yes and no. They split the slot duties primarily among 3 players in 2019. - Taron played against 11 and smaller groupings. - Neal played against 20/21 groupings and replaced Taron when he was out - Marlowe played against 12/22 groupings almost exclusively
  16. That’s a beautiful thing. My take on Marlowe getting more snaps that JJ is that Marlowe played the slot position a lot in 2019 when teams went to 12 personnel. They seem to like him as a chess piece against move/flex TEs.
  17. I had him graded as a R4 guy IIRC, and I thought he looked like he belonged on the field in week 17, but I do think “played like a star” is overstating—which is understandable from someone that followed his entire career. He’s likely going to get snaps at some point this season, so here’s hoping he shows his mettle.
