Is Robbie Anderson worth a second rounder.

Oh I imagine that's true. In fact, I've prepared myself for Devin Funchess to be the "big" acquisition at WR, which would be...underwhelming. -

I might look at chris Morgan for OL coach Sweet! Now go get me Rod Wilson! -

Well, you're on the record. As the board's A-1 original Robby Anderson booster, I don't think I'm selling him short when i call him a solid WR2. There is, however, no real basis for believing that he'll eclipse guys like Julio or AB. Then again, you also once told me that habanero peppers cure cancer -

Wow. Sensitive huh? Here's a hint: if you want an echo chamber where thoughts aren't challenged you're in the wrong place. -

It's "common sense" to think it's a better investment to give up a 2nd round pick and a new contract to a guy who averages 700 yards and 5 TDs per season than to give up a 1st for one of the 3 best WRs in football because he's younger? That's not sensical--common or otherwise--in any way whatsoever. -

You're fine giving up a 2nd rounder for Robby Anderson, despite his multiple off-field issues, but you're dead set against giving up a first rounder for either Antonio Brown or Julio Jones? Sorry; I don't get it. As for Robby, no, I wouldn't give a 2. Robby is a nice player, but I had a R3 grade on him coming out of Temple; I feel like equal players can (and will) come from the middle rounds of the next 2 drafts.- 90 replies

2019 NFL Draft: Bills officially picking 9th
thebandit27 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of those positions that you pay is CB. I have no issue paying 2 of them given the rising cap and increasing rate of teams using 3, 4, and 5 WRs -
At guard, I can think (off the top of my head) of Glowinski, Foster, Cann, Spain, and Saffold. At OT, again off the top of my head I like Daryl Williams, JaWuan James, Ty Nsehke, and maybe Trent Brown as well. Center is tougher; you're basically down to Morse, because I can't imagine Denver lets Paradis walk.

That's not a better question at all. In fact the two issues are almost unrelated. Julio fills one of the biggest needs on the team; one of the ones you yourself listed. I can feel pretty confident that I can find at least 2 starting OLmen in FA. You have 9 more draft picks to add talent in areas that are very easy to fill like RB, off-ball LB, rotational DT, and TE. In fact, not a single player from LorAx, Clay, Shady, or Kyle was a high draft pick; 3 of the 4 were post 5th round. I also have no clue how you can claim to be confident that a 9th overall pick will be a 10-year contributor; just look at the last 10 #9 overall picks--only 3 turned out to be studs.
-
So his age is the issue? I mean, realistically any player you trade a pick for is going to be older than the guy you'd draft. Also, what player are you getting at 9 that you feel confident will contribute more to the team for the next 3 years than the combined effort of Brown and the player you pick at 20?

Bills Should Be Judicious in Free Agency
thebandit27 replied to racketmaster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm fine with hedging the bet on Teller and Boettger by signing a vet like Ramon Foster to a one year deal. That way if Teller or Boettger wins the job you still have a vet backup but aren't tied to an overpriced deal for multiple seasons -

No, but he should not be their de facto plan as a starting guard -

FA shouldn't affect the draft at all. Draft for talent at key positions and you'll never be without a core. -

I prefer DL as well, but if the choice is solid DLman or potentially elite CB it's an easy choice for me -

Absolutely. Greedy as a CB2 would make the secondary really solid. Wallace as the primary backup on the boundary and Lewis backing up Taron in the slot. Now about that whole Jordan Poyer holdout thing... Well, you've hit on a pretty important point: the whole philosophy is predicated upon your evaluation being sound. -
I think the guard position has enough volume in FA and the trade market to fill two spots if they want to; OT and C are bigger issues for me in terms of availability. I would be fine trading mid round picks for vets whose current teams find them overpriced. I immediately think of Kelechi Osemele and Jason Peters. Osemele had a down year, but was the best guard in football under Castillo in Baltimore, and Gruden hates his own players. Peters is 36, has a team option on his contract, and the Eagles are in a very tight cap crunch--plus they managed to win a super bowl without him, so they'd probably listen. If you could get both guys for a 3 and a 4, would you do it? Go into free agency with Dawkins-Osemele-Bodine-Teller-Peters as the worst-case scenario starting 5?

If the Bills draft to fill needs they'll be back where they were 10 years ago. They need to be smarter than that. Draft elite talents at critical positions like pass catcher, pass rusher, and cornerback. Stock the roster with talent; fill needs in free agency.- 413 replies
