  1. You actually think we are going to win 3 out of our last 5 games?
  2. If the priority in the draft is to grab a QB, then the team better carry six of them on the roster next year. That should be enough to get us through the season with this O-line.
  3. Obviously, I am missing something. There seems to be a group who are obsessed with dwelling on players who have left the Bills and relishing it if they are playing poorly. Apparently this is therapy I cannot understand. It bugs me when the Bills let good players go. It it pisses me off when they fail to bring in good players. And it's frustrating as hell when they hire unqualified administration and coaching personnel. But people who are no longer in the organization (or refused to join the organization) are not the enemy in my opinion. The fact that so many of these people are succesful is an indicator of what mistake the Bills organization is making, but I can't hate them for not being here.
  4. The plan is not to use the Rogers Center for NFL football if a team moves to Toronto. What you are seeing is the research to determine the best way to make a team successful there. A number of mistakes have been made, which is why things are moving along slowly. I'm certainly not knowledgeable about Rogers' plans, but my guess is he is not worried about establishing a fan base right now. The Toronto Argos almost went bankrupt in 2003, and they are in financial trouble right now. Even if they survive, they are bottom dwellers in the CFL and would be like a semi-pro team versus an NFL franchise. Secondly, the Rogers Center will probably continue to be the home of the local baseball team for some time to come. Rogers is well aware that the real money to be made with an NFL franchise is to build a new domed stadium loaded with enough luxury boxes to accomodate the many large corporations in Toronto. The venue would probably also have more regular seats as well. Finally, if they are paying attention to the fans (and what works in other NFL cities), they are also learning about the importance of the overall experience people attending the game expect. A sprawling parking area suitable for tailgate parties, a suburban location with supporting roadways that will allow fast entrance and exit for thousands of vehicles, geographical placement to lure the huge percentage of existing fans who would be coming from southern Ontario and the Buffalo area, etc. Thinking outside the box, marketing strategies could include lake crossing boating packages for folks coming from Rochester and beyond, as well as bus excursions from Buffalo and Niagara Falls. I hate to admit it, but unless a white knight shows up soon, Bills fans best hope may be a regional team housed south of Toronto. But it still will not be the same, rooting for the Ontario Owls.
  5. The same criticism was thrown at London Fletcher, who continues to ply his trade. I have seen a number of plays where Poz makes the tackle downfield. The disconcerting part of it for me, is that he is often making the play after a teammate has missed a tackle or lost containment. That sheds a different light on Poz's performance.
  6. Just a bitter guy throwing spears at others after he got fired. Who cares what Pete Carroll does in his private life, and who cares what Charlie Weis does in his? Weis isn't enhancing his chances at getting a decent NFL coaching job by spitting venom.
  7. Were they 30 starts that were all bad?
  8. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case.
  9. Therein lies a problem. Each year it sounds like a bunch of fans are going to hit Ralph where it hurts by not renewing their tickets. Then he makes a modest move or two and they jump back onto the bandwagon. We are part of the problem.
  10. Keep in mind that Wilson has been meddling in the team's draft all these years since Polian left (which is why Polian was shown the door), except for the Tom Donahoe years. After firing Tom, Ralph made a point to say that he regretted giving Donahoe so much power and that it would never happen again. There's a strong clue regarding what is wrong with the system.
  11. Oh oh! If Wolf retired in 2001, he's probably over 70. That makes him a top candidate for Ralph's puppet government. If he really did talk to Ralph, I'm shaking in my boots.
  12. It was just a workout, not a signing. But if the kid gets back into the league, I wish him well. Just as I hope Trent Edwards gets an opportunity and excells. Your points are well taken. Just like so many players at other positions who seem to play better when they leave Orchard Park, it's likely our "failed" QBs will also. When an NFL organization sinks this low, it is so much tougher to determine how good a player is. The only organization sicker than the Bills right now is Oakland.
  13. Man, shortly after it becomes apparent that the team is dead, the dogs turn on each other and start ripping and biting. Please respond to each other the way you want to be treated and let's stick to commentary about the team and the sport.
  14. Well, it was fun for 5 days, but now the "if we win out" people will back off, the Fewell for head coach campaign will lose momentum and we can focus even more intensely on "what if Ralph Wilson really intends to clean house, build a winner and sail off into the sunset, legacy fulfilled." The only thing I came away feeling strongly about after last night's game, was... how badly Rogers blew it trying to create an artificial NFL atmosphere for a game. He should fire whatever advisers told him it was okay to charge those extreme ticket prices, piss off the starting fan base by forcing them to buy the preseason game tickets as well, overlook the need for free tailgating for everyone attending the game and fail to provide the obligatory bushes in the parking lot for drunks to piss into. I mean, how many chicks are going to have too much beer and flash topless, when the people sitting on either side of them are using napkins?
  15. Funny you should mention that. The Jets blew three sure touchdowns in the first half. It actually could have been 40 - 13.
  16. I love a good mystery, but is this really important?
  17. This just in. In an interview while working in the prison laundry, O.J. said if they get me out of jail, I'll play any position the Bills want me to.
  18. Sorry to sing the same song again, but I cannot imagine any coach or GM (take your pick from all who have been mentioned in the last 2+ weeks) being successful (or staying very long) without a totally new ownership philosophy. And I do not believe that a new ownership philosophy will occur in Buffalo without a change in ownership. The point is: Wilson will never throw tons of money at doing a complete reversal. Only a new owner who wants to gain prestige (by winning) while making his millions will make real change happen.
  19. Gentlemen, I want to thank you for the stories and the memories. Your sharing has been the most interesting I have read in a long time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bills fans truly are special and our emotional investment in the Bills has not been without its rewards. Thanks for the uplift.
  20. Cotton, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but do you really believe there is a snowball's chance in hell that the Bills will have a meaningful game at the end of the season? Are you being sincere?
  21. Damn! I was still holding onto the hope that the cheerleader would get the HC job. There are reasons not to just pass this idea off: 1. Think about all those shots they took of DJ along the sidelines during the games. How embarrassing. 2. Think about the improved sideline cheer at the start if the game. Instead of the team huddling together and saying, "1,2,3, try not to lose." 3. When was the last time you saw a head coach whose hair was as long as any of the players?
  22. It seems like in more and more of these posts, guys are immediately throwing anyone rumored not to want to work here "under the bus." And there also seems to be more sniping at the posters. Just a suggestion, but I think we should respond to threads with a little more understanding. For example, if someone decides not to be a candidate to work in Buffalo, that does not make them public enemy #1. They may like Buffalo, have friends and/or relatives here, etc., but just do not think it is their best move right now. And just because someone is not the best speller or keyboardist, doesn't mean he deserves to be ridiculed about it. Yes, we are frustrated by many recent events, but we are classy people in a blue collar area who respect others. Just making a plea for civility.
  23. Of course, if Harbaugh takes over as Bills head coach, the team loses it's top PR guy. Jim Kelly will move away.
  24. Calm down. Dan. He's not a terrorist.
  25. If multiple people have been GM and HC during the last decade and the result has been a poor record of drafting good players, acquiring good free agents and keeping our better players, isn't it obvious that the source of the problem has been the same throughout the ten years? Logically, isn't this strong evidence that the man pulling the strings (purse strings) is the villain? I've listened to the ranting about all the failings of the recent coaching and management alumni and it's hard to believe they were all so bad. For example, the best coach we ever had gets brought back as a GM. We later find out that it was a private agreement for only two years, where Marv's job was to restore improved interactions between management, coaches, the media and the fans. Marv did what he was asked to do: calm was restored. Also, when Marv was rehired, the already tight-fisted budgeting was made even tighter as Wilson announced "Cash to the Cap." I didn't really grasp the true message at the time, but now it is obvious. Marv was not going to be allowed to be a true GM and spend the money to build a competitive team. So after Marv leaves on cue, Wilson effectively eliminates the GM position by giving the puppet title to Russ. Yes, we haven't had the best management, coaches and players, and yes that is part of the problem. But the main issue has been an old man hoarding as much gold as possible to stack and count in his remaining time. That's his true obsession: not rebuilding a competitive team. It's so obvious it smells.
