Ralph Wilson Holds City Hostage For New Domed Stadium
May Day 10 replied to May Day 10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
thats one of the great things about the article. you could change a couple words here and there, and you could convince someone the thing was written 40 days ago, not 40 years ago. for me, someone who wasnt alive yet, it was fascinating to see that snapshot of that time period. -
http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...018/1/index.htm This article just oozes awesomeness. It is about the Buffalo sports landscape from January 1969. It starts out about the Knoxes, covers the city's pursuit of an MLB team, and then talks at length about how Ralph Wilson is threatening to take the Bills and move them to Seattle. And OJ may have given Ralph the leverage he needed! really though, if you have time and you are a Buffalo sports fan, this is a must read.

I have a piece of turf used in the 91 Season I believe. It is mounted on a piece of plastic and the turf itself is about the size of a hockey puck. And I got it as a Christmas gift from my parents back then

If the Bills were to win the superbowl...
May Day 10 replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep going back and forth. Part of me would want to attend the Super Bowl. And the other part wants to be in Buffalo. -
The Niagara Bills & draft thoughts...
May Day 10 replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I travel from Philly to attend games... (staying on Grand Island). I dont care where they play in WNY I will go. Near Grand Island would create a nightmare on the bridges. Changing the team's identity to Niagara sickens me though. -

We need someone to start a website, study the situation in Green Bay, come up with a realistic Public-Owned solution... Then take pledges from people who would be willing to buy shares in the team to reach a goal amount. This movement could get legs in the media, volunteers could be found, people could man a table at home games and other Buffalo-area events. Then you could put a nice report forth to the guys who could make it happen like kelly, Schumer, Kemp, Goodell, etc... I think Goodell said something before (maybe to Schumer?) leaving the door ajar to the possibility of the team being at least partially publically-owned. -
Detroit Businessman looks to regionalize Bills
May Day 10 replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the grand island bridges would be miserable. and what about the awful smell of Niagara Falls? -
Im happy and proud for both of them. Looking past everything else. With no Ralph Wilson, there is no Bills and no TSW. We still do not know for sure what will happen with the team, so its tough to villify him yet. Maybe his enshrinement will create some good feelings for him and Buffalo.

Why are people in charge of cool things, always
May Day 10 replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What really bothers me is: When a football analyst immitates/rips off Chris Berman. Like how they say the "Chargers" or the "Raiders"... or rip off one of his sayings. Adam Shine on Sirius is the worst. I cant listen to that station because of him. He is so bad, he grunts out random words in almost every sentence like Berman says the "Raiders" or "Chargers" -
I would have to say either th 69ers from te late 80's... Specifically, we will say the 88 team. Or the early 90's cowboys... Specifically the 92 team.

Off topic, but anyone watch the fight tonight?
May Day 10 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in Off the Wall Archives
i still like boxing better than MMA. I watched the fight last night. Mosley owned him from the beginning. They werent even in the same league it seemed. -
it sucks for me. I was 12-16-ish at that time. I only attended 2 games from that era (dad hates the NFL). now I have season tickets and means to attend a Super Bowl and the Bills are stuck in miserable.

So Arizona is playing with their hair on fire...

did warner thank god for the win, or did he just thank god for the opportunity to play... big difference. -

Thank god. I work in Philly and there isnt one person who didnt think (or know for a fact) the Eagles would win by 30+. I had to argue with people that this isnt the first time ever (they already counted the superbowl won) that 2 teams from the same city won a major championship. A lot of them have very little knowledge and probably couldnt name 8 players on the Eagles. -
No team in LA for at least 10 years?
May Day 10 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Im not too worried about the Bills moving to LA. Our lone threat is Toronto I believe. -

The player wasnt close to being out of bounds when he supposedly touched the ball anyways. Totally blown call. -
Why NE is gonna franchise Cassel - read this
May Day 10 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Jets would appear as a lot more of a threat to poach Cassell. How would the Pats or Cassell's mom know if and what the Bills are going to offer him at this point? -
Value of a seasoned QB able to react to blitz & pressure
May Day 10 replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually paid attention to the pregame interview with Warner just before kickoff. With a stoic look on his face he said the most important thing is to stay calm and collected. He has been doing just that and I have been in awe of his composure. He showed that team how to win. Its a nice situation with those WR's, but his experience/level headedness makes this team cohesive. -
How Fast Will the Giants Decline Take Place?

the wheels fell off the night that wanna-be thug showed up at a night club with a loaded gun(s) -
the Buffalo crowd was audible from the beginning. Good show.

WHY IS RALPH WILSON STADIUM SO BAD?
May Day 10 replied to Steve In Atlanta 2008's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I had assurances that they would do it right, I would have no problem if there was a new stadium built. I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that it would be a bargain-basement dome, which would take the soul out of attending bills games -

I have zero problem with RWS. Actually, I will be upset when and if the Bills move out of it.... Especially if it is into a dome. -
i work in Philly and they really arent good fans. The majority I talk to really have little knowledge of football. they dont pay attention to much other than the Eagles, and only if they are winning. They start to lose and the bandwagon drains off quickly (if you think 2bd is bad. Its the same way with the Flyers. People here just dont stick with their teams when it is going bad with the exception of the Phillies. I think a lot of good fans were priced out when the moved to the linc. I dont think they have anything in common with Buffalo fans. Trust me, they dont deserve a super bowl.

coy wire has been a real surprise. I am happy for him. Nice guy. He used to spend all summer on the field with a trainer/coach and (oddly) Travis Henry.
