  1. yeah, maybe I should just stop thinking and let go. I have no control over it and just have faith that Nix, Whaley, Modrak, and Gailey really know what they are doing and will do what is right. After watching the last 10 years it just seems so impossible.
  2. I am a little discouraged with the rumors that the Bills are looking to trade for McNabb. From any outside observer, you can see this team has many holes. Just trying to patch a couple will just create more holes. This is the cycle we have seen for the past 10+ years. I feel the roster is at its weakest now... arguably worse than the 2002 squad... ESPECIALLY if Schobel retires. they should be focusing on 3 years from now. draft picks in 09, 10, and 11 will be important, mcnabb will not. Any player they do not see contributing in 3 seasons they need to dump off for whatever pick(s) they can get. Build off last year's successful draft, and hopefully good drafts in the next 2 with the odds of landing good players raised due to offloading players like Schobel, Parrish, etc. for picks. They may possibly be in a position to draft the top QB/Locker after next season. After that the Bills can fill in with FAs and trade for vets. IMO this is the direction this organization needs to go now. I suspected that is what they were planning. I kind of dont want them to try to be good this season if it means trading assets that will help in 3 seasons. Now if the young core comes together early and they win a bunch of games next year Ill be thrilled. But if they stay the course and go 2-14 I will not be upset. Im saying bring the full rebuild on. I will continue to renew my season tickets and buy as much merchandise as I would normally. This groundhog day scenario of below average teams followed by FAs walking and attempting to fill holes foolishly is what is going to suck my life out as a Bills fan.
  3. awesome article. Brings me back. I am also guilty of moving towards these electronic games. I still have my Strat-o-matic hockey and baseball games (football too). Reading that makes me want to break em out. My dad still plays Strat hockey almost every night. He just finished a complete replay of an Original 6 hockey season. A few other games I remember are Pursue the Pennant Baseball, Statis Pro Baseball, Basketball, and Boxing, Win Place and Show horse racing, and a more primitive game with a spinner called All-Star Baseball. Its a shame that tabletop games are eventually going to dry up.
  4. tabletop football never worked for me. Strat-o-matic baseball and hockey were great. Never tried APBA. I think I might skip Madden this season. There hasnt really been enough significant improvement in the past few releases to justify buying that. I buy Madden, NCAA, FIFA, and NHL every season. I like to play NCAA and use the draft classes on Madden, but usually I just get through 2 seasons of each before I move on and later the new titles come out and I start over. This year Ill just continue on my NCAA Dynasty and NFL Franchise from 2010 Madden. Ill stagger my purchases. NHL and FIFA World Cup this year, NCAA and NFL in 2011(2012), and so on. I wish EA still could make baseball games. Their last MLB release was Great. 2K sucks at baseball games.
  5. so if they won the coin flip and scored... then the OT rules would not have done justice? Didnt San Diego or Indy lose a game the same way in OT?
  6. I think it makes things very interesting. Do you kick the FG or go for it for the TD? I dont think it changes the dynamic of the game at all. A whole lot less than 2 point conversions. Watching a 16+ game season end on a coin toss and a fluky pass interference call without getting a possession is maddening
  7. I hope they change the rediculous OT. Horrible.
  8. Culpepper would be fine. The Bills arent looking for a QB of the future success. They are looking for a stopgap for a season or 2 until they draft Locker or someone next draft.
  9. this is true. The Bills have to focus on 3 seasons from now on... McNabb isnt a part of that. The Bills cant trade any picks.
  10. Dream? Looks like a nightmare to anyone interested in seeing the Bills win.
  11. I dont really see this. I see him motivated to make a great paycheck, and do and say the right things publicly. I really dont like what he said about coasting through Atlanta either. He had a great chance in Philly last year (and probably will still have the chance), but he was rather worthless to them. With that said, even if he had the fire of 1,000 suns, I dont think he (or any QB) could take the Bills to the Superbowl. It is obvious that the Bills are either closing the hatches for the labor deal (or lack of)...and/or are working on a 3 year plan which includes a top QB not yet in the NFL. If the Bills make any trades, it will be for either draft picks, or young diamonds in the rough (3 year plan in mind). They arent going to waste resources for a vet QB to play stopgap for the next few seasons. If you are a Vick fan, you shouldnt want him to come to Buffalo. Its not a good environment for him to succeed. There are better situations out there that would give him a chance to shine. I actually felt bad for T.O... but at least he only had a 1 year sentence.
  12. the Bills are walking the correcct path at this time. they are not going to be very good for the next 1, probably 2 seasons. But they will stock up on linemen and linebackers in this draft. Next year we will take Locker or another top QB and probably a WR or 2. at tht point the FAs will be brought in to complement the established core.
  13. Well, Vick is getting his chance in the NFL and life, and he will not be playing for the Bills, so everybody wins.
  14. this season and likely next season will be a joke. We will see a collection of crap players as stopgaps while the core is built through the draft and maybe a couple existing "gems" that Nix, Whaley, and maybe Gailey pick out for the long term. Think the 96, or 02-04 Sabres. They need to reload and I dont think that any vet players we see signed now will really figure in the REAL future plans this team has. Once the core takes shape, then they should go for the Greers and etc of the Free Agents. It sucks, but this is what needs to happen. Too much rotting on this team the past 10 years.
  15. I decided to keep mine. Im not watching every day for signings, etc because I know it would be a mistake to try to build a winner and look for stopgaps (like they have for almost 15 years). I realize the best thing is for the team to purge and take 2 steps back and rebuild. The team on the field needs to hit rock bottom before it rises. Im cool with that, and I am cool with the 2-14 season we may face... I am in Philly most of the time and try to make it to 4 games of the season normally. Its only like $250. I like the location of my seats and would nearly be irreplaceable if I lapsed. What the hell.
  16. oh yeah, I forgot about Mallett. Maybe a mid-major QB or 2 will emerge next season.
  17. Has anyone looked this far ahead yet? If the Bills share the school of thought that the lines should be drafted for first... and a 3-4 defense needs to be constructed, the Bills likely will not obtain their QB this year. There is a very good chance the Bills will take a step back this season in an attempt to correctly purge, rebuild, and grow. This could land a very high pick in 2011. Is there any possibilities out there this early? Locker?
  18. too bad the bills won some of those meaningless snoozefests.
  19. Name All NFC and All AFC teams and maybe 2nd teams. Make an event the week before the super bowl that is a fun event, attended by people, but mainly made for TV... like a skills competition. Lace the events with well-produced retrospectives on the season and look aheads to the Super Bowl.
  20. what would it take other than our 1st and lil Donte? 3rd?
  21. I havent seen a move yet that has really improved anything (maybe the firing of Guy). Just a lot of things that you can spin into possibly being a positive thing if you use your imagination.
  22. No way. Didnt the NHL set the record for moves at the deadline last season and/or the season before? We also just saw some GIGANTIC trades go down last month. Kovalchuk got dealt to New Jersey for crying out loud, what bigger trade to make a team a contender do you want? The cap is the BEST thing to happen to the NHL. Te league was about to go caput. Stars would end up on one of about 5 teams. Now all teams can afford to have stars and teams like the Rangers and Leafs are "stuck" with being held responsible for bad moves and building a team wisely. I cant think of one reason the NHL cap could be considered a bad thing.
  23. I see they are thinking of changing it for the playoffs only. That would be a nice start. Each team gets a possession and I am happy.
  24. It is unbelievable to me. All my friends in WNY are glued to these games. Im in Philly and some of my coworkers watch the games closely. There must be parts of the country that is completely oblivious to hockey. I cant figure out how so many people get more enjoyment out of the Pro Bowl or Ice Dancing than they do the US/Canada game.
