  1. I am friends with a number of Patriots fans who loathe that place and wont step foot in it. Meanwhile they come here and beam about the entire experience and cant get enough. I guess when youre drawing from 6 million people and are among the class of the league for a decade and a half, you can afford to alienate your original fans. I also am friends with a few Jets ex-season ticket holders who wouldnt/couldnt make the transition to the new stadium and pricing. I dont think the Bills have that luxury. There is a happy medium, and ways to get more revenue from people, but a huge cash grab isnt going to work here and I believe Pegula and Golisano both know it. We cant sustain a palace of excess like these things in Atlanta and Minnesota. Maybe a more modest stadium like Pittsburgh, Seattle, or Cleveland. I would really like for them to consider a major renovation of RWS to see if they can preserve the place. 20th in revenue. Sure there are subtle ways to improve without stabbing the heart at what makes the Buffalo Bills Great article on the subject: http://sports.espn.g.../partone/081121
  2. Isn't that the Toronto series description?
  3. I don't think we have enough high end dollars to make bells and whistles a necessity. Working class fans have and will drive attendance. Just look at the sabres' premium seats compared to the rest of the league, while "common" seats have crept to at or near league averages. The formula is pretty simple. Field a relevant football team for a season or two that includes a home playoff game or 2. Cap season tickets and create a waiting list to create a feeling of being shut out to high secondary market and box office pricing and perpetual demand. Then creep the ticket prices up.
  4. that is monster news
  5. If/when the team is secure here, I wont hold Kelly's comments against him and give him the benefit of the doubt. He provided some sort of hope/sanity and was the one thing we were able to cling to. All's well that ends well.
  6. they have also failed to really address the backup QB position in 2 years. The Browns actually snagged 2 experienced guys I think would be great to plug in there to punt Lewis: Campbell and Grossman.
  7. thats how I feel. If they make a step in the right direction, let's see it out a bit. 6-10 or a step backward... what exactly are we preserving?
  8. none of these guys need Kelly's money
  9. maybe 10 teams have bad or mediocre business people/dont care about revenue and Brandon is just average and we can do better.
  10. Agree on JK, if in fact those reported terms are accurate. You would think if he had 100% the best interest of the franchise at heart he would just back/endorse Pegula and it would be ballgame. Pegula knows better than to give JK any type of managerial role, especially a lifetime one. He would however provide a permanent job for him being an ambassador for the team. If JK is involved in a bid that will provide him with permanent say in football decisions, I really dont want that bid to win with Pegula still out there.
  11. It's very possible this team finishes last again for the 7th straight season. This is a team that put a lot of chips on the table for immediate success in the watkins deal. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to see a lot of pink slips with a new owner. They win. Everyone's happy
  12. assuming JBJ hasnt given up his desire as being the majority/controlling owner, it isnt a threat at all.
  13. this is where my mind keeps going back to. I dont know who would want to spend that much money, come in with high hopes and a renewed fanbase, and stick with the status quo unless there are signs of improvement this season (no changes are really possible or constructive until the last 1/4 of the season or after). Getting rid of Brandon doesnt cast the Bills into some financial chasm, neither does the dismissal of Overdorf, Littman, or Mary Owen. There are plenty of apt business people that will be plenty adequate and possibly someone who the new owner is comfortable with and/or is familiar with the how he/she wants to do business (face it, the Sabres and Bills are/have both run in different modes). Its also the NFL. Its very hard not to succeed, especially with a good/loyal fanbase. Likewise, if circumstances see Whaley/Marrone go, it doesnt automatically hit a complete reset button (Im talking about another last place finish anyways with no #1 pick). I do think we have a decent core of athletes that a new football department would like/choose to retain. And then you also think of the way it went with the Pegulas when they were loyal and retained Ruff and Regier.
  14. they burned themselves. Nix/Brandon/Whaley are a cohesive unit and should be viewed as such IMO. Not to mention there are positives too.
  15. If we are stuck with the kellys with final say In all football decisions, just move to toronto. Endorse pegula. Close the deal. And be set up with acknowledgement and jobs for life. Pegula gave andrew peters a job for God's sake
  16. It sounds like it's going to cost someone money to have kelly around. Kind of a shame as he can just throw his support/endorsement behind pegula and further nail the coffin.
  17. Omg. The kellys' terms. No wonder they are still outside looking in. And the article states bon jovi and his toronto pals
  18. The timing of Mr Wilson's passing in relation to the lease as well as the emergence of pegula in 2011 as well as his interest in owning a team. And if nothing else, the intent is/was there which is hackish for an "everyman" "American" "rock" "artist".
  19. I think it's unique and I am proud of it. If circumstances were just a little different, bon jovi would be buying the bills, manipulating our politicians, lying to us, and stealing the bills forever.
  20. The new owner is going to need to rebrand this franchise to the nflpa. Winning helps but there is a lot of other stuff too. Already have seen a turnaround with the sabres and they are/were at rock bottom of a lengthy rebuild
  21. It would be 7 straight seasons of that. Always reasons and excuses. If EJ stinks and/or gets hurt, its on management for putting all eggs in his basket and leaving an UDFA and a practice squad QB as the backups. Toronto games. Squabbling with Byrd. Poor coaching, you name it. Trading Stevie in favor of a powder keg of personal issues (Williams). Punting on getting a legit TE. Not finding any replacement for Levitre. Its not rocket science to be competitive in the NFL. Im done with reasons and excuses and ready for this organization to look like one, instead of rooting to be "in the hunt" as long as possible, then get bitched at about how we dont want to show up for meaningless December games. Whenever we have had enough of it, my perception is everyone takes one step to the left and its branded as change. edit: I dont mean to be a negative nancy. Im hopeful for this season and like a lot of the athletes we do have. I do fear the complete devotion to EJ and protecting him from any competition may waste all this talent though. With new ownership, I dont think we can/should accept failure and make excuses any more.
  22. who made the Evans trade when Nix alluded to others?
  23. IF the wheels fall off and the Bills finish last again this season, I cant wrap my head around why any fan would want to stick with the status quo. The "big" changes 2 years ago were moving Brandon from CEO to 'super' CEO and promoting the asst GM to GM. Team is still last place.
  24. Wilson removed him and put Nix in because the fans were ready to riot.
